After the Los Angeles Lakers’ second <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/nba">NBA</a> preseason game against the Phoenix Suns, the rookie, who celebrated his birthday, reflected on the momentous occasion.


 

 


Bronny took the floor in the second quarter with four minutes remaining, marking the first time the father-son duo played together. While LeBron did not participate in the second half, he and Bronny were able to share the court for a few minutes.



Much was anticipated about their on-court chemistry, but Bronny admitted that the family connection was hard to overlook. When asked about how he views LeBron during games, the rookie said: “I’m always thinking about, ‘That’s my Dad’ because that’s literally my dad. When I’m playing, he’s just my teammate. The Warriors’ interest of Bronny was genuine, and even had the chance to draft him as they had the 52nd pick. However, as many sources reported, the team decided not to move forward, choosing center Quinten Post, and respecting the wishes of <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/topic/lebron-james">LeBron</a> to play with his son.



Ramona Shelburne, the main source of this information, wrote on ESPN: “(JJ) Redick was in the room when the Lakers made history and a dream into reality. He stood next to (Rob) Pelinka as the <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/topic/golden-state-warriors">Golden State Warriors</a>, who had tried to trade for (LeBron) James last season, weighed whether to take Bronny at No. 52. The Warriors liked Bronny’s skill set and had him on their draft board, sources said. 



“Selecting him ahead of the Lakers, who held the 55th pick, would’ve been a shrewd move — perhaps even to entice James to sign there as a free agent,” she added. “But ultimately, sources said, the Warriors opted to respect the wishes James had made clear and the Lakers signaled they would grant,” Shelburne stated.

Los Angeles Lakers played their first NBA preseason game on Friday night, losing 107-124 to the Minnesota Timberwolves. <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/topic/jj-redick">JJ Redick</a> opted not to start LeBron James, instead giving minutes to his son Bronny James, who made his unofficial debut with the first team.

“He’s still figuring out what kind of player he is and that’s our job to help him do that. I liked the way I saw him, we’re happy with his progress. “He is very easy to train. He has a lot of spirit and energy. I’m rooting for him, he’s a good player. I’m happy to have him with us,” Redick sentenced of Bronny. LeBron’s son is expected to see minutes in the pros this season, but he’ll have to establish himself as a player who can live up to expectations. There is even speculation that he could get minutes in the G-League with the <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/topic/los-angeles-lakers">Lakers</a>.

<h2>Bronny James’ preseason debut with Los Angeles Lakers</h2>



Despite Redick’s optimistic statements, Bronny James’ game was far from spectacular. The son of LeBron finished with 2 points, one rebound and one assist, shooting 1/6 from the field, missing his only three-point attempt and failing to convert his first five shots of the game. As Redick remarked, James was solid on defense, contributing three blocks.

However, JJ Redick recently singled out another of the team’s players for his professionalism and reliability..



In a recent interview, <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/topic/jj-redick">Redick </a>praised Gabe Vincent, saying: “We have a lot of these guys. But he’s one of those guys where you’re like ‘I’d love to have 10 Gabe Vincents’. He’s just easy to coach, you know what he is going to be day to day in terms of consistency.”



Now recovered from the injuries that prevented him from playing regularly during the previous season, Vincent will be key as a rotation piece for the <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/topic/los-angeles-lakers">Lakers </a>this year. “In terms of the basketball piece, he and I spent about three and a half hours together with a couple of glasses…. In Vegas during Summer League,” Redick revealed.



On the role that the guard will have within the team, the coach explained: “The biggest thing for him is just having a really aggressive mentality. Don’t turn down shots, coming off an action, your first shot is to shoot a three. For him, specifically, creating that level of freedom and clear-mindedness is important.”

<h2>JJ Redick faces a tough challenge</h2>



Redick, appointed as the Lakers’ 29th head coach in June, faces a major challenge in his first stint as an <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/nba">NBA </a>head coach. “I take that responsibility seriously,” JJ stated upon his appointment, fully aware of the expectations that come with leading a storied franchise like the Lakers.
