They still have him tied for the next three seasons, so any potential trade could wait until mid-season or even next summer, although that seems unlikely.

New York can trade as many as eight future first-round picks.
As SNY previously reported, Utah seeks Barrett in a Mitchell trade. Barrett, obviously, has strong advocates within the Knicks organization. But some New York decision-makers are open to including Barrett in a trade for Mitchell, sources say.”

There’s no denying Kyrie’s talent or impact on the court. As you may know by now, The Big Diesel isn’t the only NBA star who seems to believe the Earth is flat. Just a couple of years ago, then-Celtics guard Kyrie Irving claimed it was all a part of a big conspiracy:
“The Earth is flat,” Kyrie said.“I’m telling you, it’s right in front of our faces. They lie to us.”
Kyrie’s comments went viral, and people mocked him left and right. Eventually, he had no choice but to backpedal and try to clear the air on his flat-Earth comments, but the damage was already done:
“The whole intent behind it, Coach, it wasn’t to bash science. It wasn’t to like have the intent of starting a rage and be seen as this insane individual. When I started seeing comments and things about universal truths that I had known, like I had questions,” Kyrie said.
“When I started actually doing research on my own and figuring out that there is no real picture of Earth, not one real picture of Earth—and we haven’t been back to the moon since 1961 or 1969—it becomes like conspiracy, too,” he added.

And maybe most importantly, Mitchell has three years remaining on his current deal. However, Jovan Buha of The Athletic claims the Lakers have no interest in bringing Randle back and therefore taking his lucrative contract. He is set to make $117m over the next four seasons – although the final year is a $29.4m player option.
“Charlotte, New York and San Antonio also present trade options, though any deal with them appears unlikely as of now for various reasons,” Buha wrote. “The Hornets’ future is muddied with restricted free agent Miles Bridges facing felony domestic violence and child abuse charges. Trading for Westbrook doesn’t necessarily improve their chances of making the Play-In tournament.
“The Lakers aren’t interested in taking back Julius Randle from the Knicks, considering his contract (three years plus a player option on the fourth year) and less-than-ideal fit with Davis and James. The Spurs don’t have much to offer aside from absorbing Westbrook’s contract, which is certainly beneficial for the Lakers, but not at the cost of two first-round picks.”
Randle left a lot to be desired last season, which is why it makes perfect sense if the Lakers have zero interested in striking a deal with the Knicks, even if they could involve Russell Westbrook in it.
