The Dallas Cowboys are bolstering their roster. Ahead of the trade deadline, owner Jerry Jones has confirmed that a new player is joining the team amid strong rumors linking the club to Myles Garrett and Maxx Crosby.
Jerry Jones is a master at building hype among fans. Last year, the Cowboys owner surprised everyone by acquiring Jonathan Mingo in an unexpected trade with the Panthers, and now he appears to be pulling off a similar move.
On Monday, Jerry Jones told SiriusXM that the Cowboys have made a trade and expect to complete a couple more before the deadline — sparking speculation about who those players might be.
Myles Garrett, Maxx Crosby? Unlikely, but not impossible
Earlier this year, the Cowboys traded Micah Parsons to the Packers. That move had a massive impact on Dallas, as the defense lost its biggest star and elite pass rusher.
Following his departure and the defense’s struggles this season, rumors swirled that Jerry Jones might pursue another top-tier pass rusher, such as Myles Garrett or Maxx Crosby.
As of now, there is no indication that the player Jones traded for is either Garrett or Crosby. However, given how poor the Cowboys’ defense has been, the idea of landing one of them doesn’t seem far-fetched.
