NFL News: Mike Tomlin and Steelers reportedly get Chris Olave trade update from Saints

Mike Tomlin and the Pittsburgh Steelers are interested in a star wide receiver to boost Aaron Rodgers’ offense. One of the most sought-after names is Chris Olave.

Mike Tomlin and the Pittsburgh Steelers will not be able to acquire Chris Olave, according to a report from Dianna Russini. Although general manager Omar Khan is very active in seeking a star wide receiver to help Aaron Rodgers, the Saints are not an option.

“Barring an unforeseen change, the Saints are not expected to move Chris Olave prior to the trade deadline. Meanwhile, the Bills and Steelers are in the receiver market, while the Ravens, Colts, Lions and Rams are inquiring about corners, sources say.”

Despite a strong start to the season, it has become clear that the Steelers need a No. 2 wide receiver if they want any chance of contending for the Super Bowl. For that reason, they are one of the teams to watch before the November 4 trade deadline.

Do the Steelers need a wide receiver?

Yes. Although publicly Mike Tomlin has expressed confidence in Calvin Austin III and Roman Wilson, the reality is that neither has been able to replace the production of George Pickens, who was traded to the Dallas Cowboys.

The ideal scenario would have been to keep Pickens alongside DK Metcalf, but his alleged character issues and the fact that it was the final year of his contract led Pittsburgh to let him go.

As a result, Aaron Rodgers cannot have two receiving threats and has had to rely on his four tight ends. If Olave is not available, the options could be limited to Jakobi Myers or Jaylen Waddle, although that seems unfeasible at the moment.
