In a hilarious turn of events, Messi responded to that situation with a great effort to put the ball in the back of the net, pulling one back for Inter Miami as they were trailing 2-0.

But eventually, their penalty takers did terribly – except for Ronaldo. Khalid Eisa denied Marcelo Brozovic, Alex Telles then hit the woodwork, and even though Cristiano scored, Otavio’s miss sealed Al-Nassr’s fate in the tournament.

<h2>Al-Nassr force the extra time but lose on penalties</h2>



After losing 1-0 in the first leg last week, Al-Nassr returned to Al-Awwal Stadium forced to turn things around. But it didn’t start well, with Soufiane Rahimi putting the visitors in front 1-0 (2-0 on aggregate).



With help from Sadio Mane, Ghareeb capitalized on a terrible mistake at the oppostion’s back, making things level just before halftime. But Al Ain came back stronger from the break, as Rahimi restored their lead after 45′.



Al-Nassr never gave up though, and put themselves back on track as an own goal by Khalid Eisa (51′) paved the way for Alex Telles to put the home side in front. With a 3-2 lead in regular time and the scored tied 3-3 on aggregate, the match went to overtime.

Sultan Al-Shamsi once again put Al-Nassr’s back against the wall by scoring after 103′, but Ronaldo seized a penalty kick 15 minutes later to tie the aggregate score and force the penalties. 



In the end, it was still a disappointing ending for the veteran striker’s team, but Cristiano finished the game on a high note considering how frustrating he looked with the missed opportunities at some point.

“I respect all clubs. And the joy after the shot expresses strength and victory, and it is not shameful. We are used to it in Europe,” Ronaldo reportedly said, as transcribed by Goal.



Ronaldo scored the first goal of the night through the penalty spot, with Anderson Talisca later scoring a brace to secure a hard-fought win for the away side. However, Cristiano’s reaction to the fans’ chants has been the biggest talking point about about the match.

Ronaldo is reportedly facing a potential two-game suspension as well as a monetary fine for his gestures, though we’ll have to wait and see what the final decision is.



The former Manchester United superstar is the Saudi Pro League top scorer with 22 goals, while his nine assists are tied with those of Alvaro Medran for the most in the tournament.

Al-Nassr are riding on a six-game winning streak in the league, which keeps them within touching distance of the top spot. But Al-Hilal are on an even better string of good results to stay seven points clear of Ronaldo’s team atop the standings.
