Reported by Cameron Wolfe of NFL Network, Maye’s evolution has been incredible. His report also say he has “increased [his] processing speed” and that he is already developing “a little chemistry” with <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/topic/stefon-diggs" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Diggs</a>. All good news for Patriots fans as Maye and Diggs are the ones called to shine on offense.



While <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/topic/drake-maye" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Maye</a> keeps improving, it’s also worth noting that Wolfe says Diggs isn’t limited at all. The wideout is recovering from an ACL tear last year, but it seems his rehab was perfect and Diggs is back to his best.



<h2>Diggs might be a star, but he is looking for a bounce back</h2>



Diggs is entering his 11th year in the NFL and will turn 32 as the season rolls around. Every time he’s played double-digit games in the NFL, he has surpassed 700 yards. He had six straight 1,000-yard seasons as well. The streak came to an end last year as he got injured on Week 8.

That meant it was a career-low year for Diggs, who is now on a new team with all the spotlight on him. Diggs and Maye should be a very good duo as Maye completed 66.6% of his passes with a subpar receiving corp. Diggs brings prolific route-running, massive experience, safe hands and ability to create separation.

That’s the question Maye might be asking himself. <h2>Drake Maye was a breath of fresh air despite not having top-tier weapons</h2>



The Patriots drafted Maye last season, but he wasn’t the starter as veteran Jacoby Brissett played the first five weeks of the NFL season. A 1-4 record made the coaching staff shift gears. Maye had a 3-9 record but was much more accurate, and somehow moved the offense much better.

Maye had 2,276 yards and 15 passing touchdowns. He impressed so much that he went to the Pro Bowl. This gave the Patriots hope for the future. Last year, no player on the roster surpassed 1,000 scrimmage yards. That says a lot about the Pats’ struggles last season.

Diggs is one of the biggest names in the NFL at the wide receiver position. However, it’s not a secret that his prime might be a thing of the past. He is 31 years old coming off an ACL tear and he wasn’t setting the NFL on fire last year.



Diggs’ strengths are his skills of separation and route running. Those will fade with age and injuries. Now, it seems like his rehab is going pretty well. If Diggs can be as explosive on his release as before, he will be very valuable. If not, well, that will be a problem as Maye won’t have the weapon that he was promised.

According to The Athletic’s Chad Graff, <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/topic/stefon-diggs" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Diggs</a> will “likely open camp by working on the side until he’s cleared from his injury.“ In spring practices, Diggs took some reps with the team, of course, in a limited capacity. Then, he was seen partying and doing everything but football during offseason.



It was so much so, the team even considered cutting him from the team. However, now it seems the team will monitor Diggs to see if he can start the season, or if he will be placed on the physically unable to perform (PUP) list.



<h2>Maye really needs a wide receiver he can trust</h2>



The WR room of the 2024 <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/topic/new-england-patriots" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Patriots</a> left a lot to be desired. In fact, it was tight end Hunter Henry who led the team in receiving yards. Demario Douglas was the best wideout with 621. Following that, Kayshon Boutte (589), Kendrick Bourne (305), and Ja’Lynn Polk (87) were the others.

Somehow, someway, rookie quarterback <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/topic/drake-maye" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Drake Maye</a> was able to impress. Maye completed 66.6% of his passes, passed for 15 TDs and got 10 picks. But in the end, no one can blame him for the picks.

“The last two years were the worst years of my 31 years of ownership,” Kraft told Adam Schefter of ESPN. “We have to change that. We have a new coach in Mike Vrable who is really connected with the players, who is doing great work. We have a young quarterback and a lot of great veterans — free agent veterans who came in. A great draft class. We’re gonna have fun this year, I promise.”

“I’m starting to really find a stride,” he said. “It’s all the same concepts in the league, but it’s different words, different verbiage. It’s mostly the same guys running [routes], but just feeling out how they run it and timing when you get into different concepts. It’s been good.”
