“You can’t put the ball in harm’s way at that position. But certainly Drake wasn’t alone. But there’s a lot of really good things in there, his ability to extend plays, scramble, pick up 1st downs for us, run multiple plays inside the pocket, outside the pocket. There’s a lot of good things in there, just some decision making that we need to have be better for him and for himself.”

Maye says he doesn’t want run much while scrambling. Having said that, it’s safe to assume Vrabel, with new offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels, will still design some plays where Maye’s athleticism comes in handy.

Nevertheless, Zolak believes that Diggs should remain in New England. “The videos look great of him working out,” he said. “I’ve touted the videos. I know you need diva receivers. I say he shouldn’t be cut, because I think he would help Drake Maye and this offense and Josh McDaniels, because you would have a true viable guy that would set coverage. Right now, you still don’t have a guy who sets coverage.”

“When we do certain things, like his competitive spirit is starting to show more, in my opinion, which I love. Coming out of that shell, you know, he’s gonna become a vet. So I think that’s what he’s embracing. He understands. He’s familiar with what to expect, what to feel, and that just creates a better, confident quarterback going into Year 2.”


 


<h2>Bourne shares his thoughts on what’s ahead</h2>



A new era is beginning in Foxborough following the arrival of <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/topic/mike-vrabel">Mike Vrabel</a> and several fresh faces on the roster. Kendrick Bourne will have another opportunity to showcase his full talent, and he knows that his strong mindset is something that can help him perform at the level the situation demands.



“It was never the confidence in my mind … it was my mind and body being connected to do exactly what I was trying to do,” the wide receiver told reporters at Gillette Stadium. “Sometimes you make a move after [recovering from] an injury and your body doesn’t go how you thought it was going to go. It makes you question your confidence. So I’m eliminating that now. Where I’m at, I’m just I’m thankful.”



<h2>McDaniels is back in Foxborough</h2>



Another familiar face making his return to <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/topic/new-england-patriots">New England</a> is Josh McDaniels, the franchise’s longtime offensive coordinator. Bourne knows what it’s like to play under him and is someone he truly feels comfortable with.



“I had my best year with [Coach McDaniels,] but I’m not banking on that,” Bourne started. “I love his offense. I fit in well with it.”


 


“But I’m just [going to] put my best foot forward,” he also added. “I think that becomes an issue when you try to overthink, you try to do too much to control the outcome. When you just let it flow and let it come to you, study what you’re supposed to do … Coming off an injury was really tough on me. I underestimated it. This year I feel really strong, really polished. I’m just banking on that.”

“I’m pumped. A lot of new faces. A lot of guys, veterans that played at a high level,” Maye said. “We kind of found answers at a lot of different spots. Hopefully can plug and play, and I think that’s what the point of free agency is. Get guys that can come here and help us win. Help us win now. Add that in with some young talent we’ve had in the past couple of drafts, hopefully we’re heading in the right direction.”

And a bunch of different guys have played at a high level in the offense, not just Tom, so it’s been cool to watch and I’m kind of learning the ins and outs of it.“

Will Campbell was selected by the Patriots with the fourth pick in the first round of the draft, addressing a major weakness from last season: quarterback protection. Upon hearing his name called, the talented offensive tackle vowed to ‘die protecting Maye’ on the field — a promise that resonated deeply with his new QB.


 


“I listened to it live,” Maye told reporters. “It gets you going, gets your juices going. I think it makes you want to go out there and play football now. Pumped that we picked Will. We got a chance to meet him when he flew in on Friday. Pumped to get things going. Obviously, he seems like a football player. That’s what you want around here.“
