<p>Reid, however, made it clear that the team didn’t rush his return. The Chiefs head coach explained that, while Pacheco was fully cleared to come back, the injury <strong>still took a toll</strong> on him.</p>



<p>“<em><strong>He was physically ok to go</strong>,”</em> Reid said. “<em>But when you’re looking at [the film], it’s minute stuff — just maybe that ability to cut as quick as he did before. Now it’s still quick, but you’re talking inches here. Was it what he could do before? Well, it wasn’t.”</em></p>



<h2>Pacheco’s attitude a great sign for Reid</h2>



<p>Either way, Reid appreciated Pacheco’s toughness throughout the year. In fact, it’s that mental fortitude that makes him predict a big comeback season for the running back.</p>



<p><em>“<strong>Most guys probably wouldn’t have come back</strong>, but if you know him for about a minute, you’ll know that he wasn’t going to be held back</em>,” Reid added. “<em>He was getting better every week, <strong>and I think you’ll just see him back to what he was before.”</strong></em></p>

<p>Like every Saturday, the <strong>National Football League</strong> updated its gameday accountability report with actions stemming from the previous week. And once again, <strong>Patrick Mahomes</strong> and <strong><a href="https://bolavip.com/en/topic/andy-reid">Andy Reid</a></strong> saw key contributors on the <strong>Kansas City Chiefs</strong> included on the summary.</p>



<p>The <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/nfl/nfl-imposes-hefty-fine-on-patrick-mahomes-key-weapon-for-andy-reids-chiefs">NFL imposed a hefty fine on Mahomes’ key weapon</a> for the running game, <strong>punishing Isiah Pacheco</strong> for Unnecessary Roughness (use of the helmet) during Kansas City’s Week 14 win over the Los Angeles Chargers.</p>



<p>But the 25-year-old wasn’t the only Chiefs player punished by the league office. The <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/nfl">NFL</a> <strong>has also fined guard Trey Smith and wide receiver JuJu Smith-Schuster</strong>, also for unnecessary roughness.</p>



<h2>Chiefs hit with three fines but Pacheco takes the hardest hit by the NFL</h2>



<p>The fines on Smith and Smith-Schuster <strong>were much lower compared to that of <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/topic/isiah-pacheco">Pacheco</a></strong>. The Chiefs running back, in fact, got the biggest penalty of the week along with Tampa Bay Buccaneers star Rachaad White ($45,020).</p>

<p>Smith <strong>was deducted $18,881</strong> for use of the helmet in the fourth quarter against the Chargers. The reason for Smith-Schuster’s fine was the same, though the <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/topic/kansas-city-chiefs">Chiefs</a> wideout <strong>only had to pay $6,722</strong> for his action in the second quarter.</p>

<p>Speaking to reporters after the game, the <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/topic/kansas-city-chiefs">Chiefs</a> head coach <strong>made it clear that he liked what he saw from the third-year running back</strong>, who spent time on the sidelines with a fractured fibula.</p>

<h2>Reid not so happy with Chiefs’ running game vs Raiders</h2>



<p>Kansas City didn’t run the ball that much against the Raiders though, as the team only used Hunt and Pacheco for a combined 14 running plays in Week 13 of the 2024 <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/nfl">NFL</a> season. Reid later explained he <strong>felt more comfortable with calling for passes</strong>.</p>

<p>“<em><strong>It was challenging</strong></em>,” Pacheco admitted. <em>“<strong>You’ve got days you come in and you don’t want to work.</strong> You could go as hard as you can and you could get distractions. You’ve got guys that are healthy running in and out of the facility but you as a player, you’ve got to focus on what you’ve got to come in there and do. For me, that was to get better day in and day out and eliminate distractions. <p>During his media availability, Reid suggested Pacheco has made progress and could be back on the field soon. <p>“<em>We’ll see on both those two, Charles (Omenihu) and (Pacheco), kind of go through the practice, see where we’re at this week and go from there, but we’ll just have to see,”</em> Reid said. “<em><strong>Day-by-day type of thing</strong></em>.”</p>



<p>While Reid <strong>has been cautious to provide a return date</strong> for Pacheco, he made sure to praise the running back for his work ethic during his recovery: “<em>He’s a spark plug, emotionally</em>. <em><strong>He’s something that way, and he’s worked his tail off to get to the point that he’s at now</strong>. We’ve got to keep an eye on him that way. He would’ve played three weeks ago if he had his choice, but that’s sometimes how it goes. I appreciate that, though, that mentality. <h2>Pacheco expected to play for Chiefs in Week 12</h2>



<p>After missing Pacheco for weeks, it looks like <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/nfl/nfl-news-andy-reid-patrick-mahomes-will-recover-key-chiefs-weapon-but-only-after-game-vs-bills">Reid and Patrick Mahomes will recover their key weapon</a> for the running game. On NFL GameDay Morning before the Week 11 games, NFL Insider Ian Rapoport claimed Pacheco is <strong>expected to play in Week 12</strong>.</p>



<p>On Sunday, November 24, the Chiefs will hit the road for the second week in a row to <strong>take on the Carolina Panthers</strong> at Bank of America Stadium. Reid, meanwhile, <strong>has yet to give any sign</strong> on whether the Chiefs plan to activate Pacheco for that game.</p>

But how does <strong>Kareem Hunt</strong> feel about it?</p>



<p><strong>Far from looking worried</strong> about his role on the team, the 29-year-old <strong>is excited</strong> about Pacheco’s return. Speaking to reporters on Wednesday, Hunt made it clear to <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/topic/andy-reid">Reid</a> that he and Pacheco <strong>can perfectly coexist</strong> on the Chiefs’ offense.</p>



<p>“<em><strong>I think that’s great, man. I’m happy for him</strong> (Isiah Pacheco), and I know he’s excited to get back and get out there</em>,” Hunt said of Pacheco, via <em>ChiefsWire</em>. “<em><strong>I think it’s gonna be a heck of a one-two punch.”</strong></em></p>



<p>Pacheco is coming back from a fractured fibula sustained during the Chiefs’ Week 2 win over the Cincinnati Bengals. Hunt, who returned to Kansas City when Pacheco was placed on Injured Reserve ahead of Week 3, <strong>has been the go-to player</strong> in the Chiefs’ running game during Pacheco’s absence. The Toledo product, however, warned the rest of the <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/nfl">NFL</a> that he and Pacheco <strong>could make a powerful duo</strong>.</p>

<h2>Chiefs OC Matt Nagy echoes Hunt’s sentiment on duo with Pacheco</h2>



<p>Hunt is definitely not the only one who thinks he and Pacheco could make life difficult for the rest of the league. During his media availability on Thursday, <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/topic/kansas-city-chiefs">Chiefs</a> offensive coordinator <strong>Matt Nagy echoed Hunt’s comments</strong>.</p>

<p><strong><a href="https://bolavip.com/en/topic/andy-reid">Andy Reid</a></strong> got terrible news early in the 2024 NFL season with <strong>Isiah Pacheco</strong>‘s fractured fibula, an injury that left <strong>Patrick Mahomes</strong> without his primary running back on the <strong>Kansas City Chiefs</strong>. However, it looks like <strong>both the head coach and quarterback are satisifed with the response from Kareem Hunt and the rest</strong> of the RB room.</p>



<p>Hunt, who returned to Kansas City after five seasons with the Cleveland Browns, was <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/topic/patrick-mahomes">Mahomes</a>‘ go-to player in the running game in the Week 4 win over the Chargers in Los Angeles. Rookie fullback Carson Steele had assumed that role in the Chiefs’ first game without Pacheco in Week 3. But with Hunt active this time, the 29-year-old <strong>immediately received more workload</strong>.</p>



<p>“<em><strong>With playing Kareem more, I just kind of went with the hot hand</strong></em>,” Reid explained, though he clarified it had nothing to do with Steele fumbling the ball in the <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/topic/kansas-city-chiefs">Chiefs</a>‘ first possession. <em>“<strong>I’m not down on Carson. He had the fumble, he’ll figure that out</strong>. We’re lucky to have three good guys in there. (Samaje) Perine had a touchdown and had some nice runs for us, too. <strong>We’re in good shape there at that position</strong>.”</em></p>



<p>Hunt led the Chiefs <strong>in carries (14) and rushing yards (69)</strong> in LA, while he also made two catches for 16 yards. Apart from making a great impression on Reid, Hunt also drew praise from Mahomes, who <strong>echoed the coach’s sentiment</strong> on the Chiefs’ RB room.</p>

<p>“<em><strong>I thought he did a great job</strong>,” </em>Mahomes said of Hunt<em>. “For someone to come into an offense – I know it’s an offense he’d been in, but an offense he hadn’t played in years – <strong>to be able to run the football hard, get well-earned yards [and] catch the ball out of the backfield, it was good to see</strong>. I’m just glad (Brett) Veach is building a great running back room [and] that we can get guys to step up and make plays while Isiah’s not here.”</em></p>
