That’s why you see guys playing a lot longer.”



“I know there’s this load management conversation, and a lot of that falls from the narrative perspective on the players like they don’t want to play 82 games. That’s not it,” Curry continued. “There’s smart, professional, well-studied individuals that prepare athletes to play not just now, but for years and years and years and years, and perform at a very high level. That’s why going into my 15th year, I feel as fresh as I’ve ever been.”

So, now that there are multiple rumors of Mitchell not wanting to extend his contract in The Land, an unnamed executive told Heavy Sports that the Cavs are going all-in to try and keep him for the long run.

But what they did was go and get players who can shoot and by doing that they sort of said to him, ‘The playoffs, that was our fault, not yours.’ That’s an attempt to keep him happy right there.”

There is a case to be made for kicking the tires on this, even though it’s not Lillard’s first choice. He’s signed for four more years, so his leverage is fairly limited. The lengthy negotiations between Heat and Blazers also fuel speculation that Lillard could expand his wish list. According to Ramona Shelburne of ESPN, the guard may consider opening the doors to other teams if this saga extends for months:
