Aaron Rodgers has been with the Green Bay Packers long enough to speak his mind and go straight to the point whenever he wants to. This offseason, he looked worried about what the wide receiver group looked likeafter the departure of Davante Adams.

His concern made sense, given that he had just lost an All-Pro teammate and in exchange he was given the task to lean on a number of young targets. However, the veteran quarterback later started to see a lot of potential in the wideouts.

Recently, Rodgers had nothing but praise for the Packers WRs, lookingparticularly impressed by rookiewideout Christian Watson , who was selected in the second round of this year’s draft. In fact, he even compared Watson to a young version of Adams.

Aaron Rodgers compares Packers rookie WR to young Davante Adams

“Look, I tell you, he’s got special speed. He really does. He’s got incredible stride length,”Rodgers said on the Pat McAfee Show, via Packers Wire. “When you watch some of the film back, it’s similar to watching Davante his rookie year.

You know there were games where I didn’t give Davante a ton of looks, but you go back and watch the film, and you’re thinking, ‘Man, this guy is open often.’ It’s like that from time to time with Christian.

“There’s a few routes, I mean not as much as Davante, I just think Davante was a little more polished route runner as a rookie, but there are a few times where I might need to give him a second look even when things don’t look great from the start because he does have that different type of speed. But we’re finding ways to use him, I think, and again, we have to have patience.

Aaron Rodgers has been with the Green Bay Packers since he entered the NFL, so whenever he has this kind of praise for a teammate, he knows what he’s talking about. Watson’s stats may have yet to take off, but his potential has already caught Rodgers’ eye.
