It’s crazy to think that it’s been years since the late great Kobe Bryant left us. The Los Angeles Lakers legend went down as one of the greatest players in<a href="https://bolavip.com/en/nba" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener"> NBA</a> history, on and off the court.



Kobe’s signature, ‘Mamba Mentality,’ has been an inspiration for thousands of people, even those outside of sports. Notably, that includes UConn Huskies star Paige Bueckers.



In an interview with ESPN, Bueckers admitted that she found solace in Bryant’s book “The Mamba Mentality” when she suffered a season-ending injury back in 2022.

The book digs deep into Kobe’s mindset and approach not only to the game of basketball but also to life. That inspired Bueckers and helped her cope and get back stronger.

Nonetheless, Jon Scheyer’s team has also had a bit of an unsung hero lately. Kon Knueppel has been on a tear over the past couple of weeks, and that was on full display in the 89-54 win over the Miami Hurricanes.



Knueppel posted career bets in both points and three-pointers in a game, pacing his team with 25 points and six triples. Following the triumph, he shared his thoughts on his epic performance.

The talented youngster continued praising his teammates for spreading the wealth and making sure to get easy shots. It’s always better to get clean looks at the rim:

That’s why Jaxson Robinson and his team looked to make an example in the win over Texas A&amp;M. Robinson scored 22 points and stared down at the opposition’s bench after a big three-pointer, and the whole team looked angry. When asked about that, he sent the naysayers a message.

Mark Pope’s team brought a different kind of physicality against Robinson’s former team. That was a much different effort from their tough loss to Georgia two games ago.

Nonetheless, it didn’t come without a price. He went to the line 17 times, knocking down 16 free throws. He didn’t shy away from contact, but the Fighting Irish kept being overly physical with him.



That’s why coach Jon Scheyer lost his temper. The officials called Flagg for an offensive foul for seemingly pushing off on a drive. He had clearly been held first, so Scheyer emphatically went after the officials, being called for a technical foul. Even so, he has no regrets.

<blockquote class="wp-block-quote">“People are going to do things to try to make it easier to guard him,” Scheyer said. “And grabbing and holding is going to be something that’s there. So it wasn’t just one play isolated for me. It’s just understanding that he does get hit.”</blockquote>

Scheyer doubled down on his determination to defend Flagg when he’s getting hit. Then again, he also made it loud and clear that he had no ill feelings towards the referees:

As a player, you always want to know your coach has your back. And while Scheyer could’ve handled things a little differently, he won’t apologize for standing up for his players.

The UCLA Bruins started the season with a bang. They had one of the best — if not the best — defenses in all of <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/college-basketball" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">college basketball</a> and looked like a legitimate dark horse.



That’s no longer the case. They’ve lost multiple games, and to add insult to injury, head coach Mick Cronin has made the rounds for all the wrong reasons, calling out his players and throwing them under the bus after every loss.



That’s why it wasn’t much of a surprise to see him do the same again after losing to Rutgers. In spite of all the criticism he’s gotten for this, Cronin continued to blame his players.

<blockquote class="wp-block-quote">“We’re missing wide open shots,” Cronin said. “I mean, go on the road, take care of the ball, you only get nine turnovers. Obviously Tyler [Bilodeau] had a tough night. Their physicality bothered him, clearly, but he missed some open looks too, had a lot of open looks.”</blockquote>

Cronin continued to point the finger at his players. Never once did he also acknowledge that the coaching staff had something to do with yet another avoidable setback:



<blockquote class="wp-block-quote">“Lazar [Stefanovic] off a play we ran. He’s unguarded, Eric Dailey [Jr] unguarded top of the key. He was 0-for-3… we had a lot of open looks. We never trailed the first half. Maybe we could have got up 10 or so. He [Kobe Johnson] made a really bad decision with his foul in the backcourt. 75 ft from the basket to just, he just whacked the guy, it was a foul. You know it’s a bad decision. Didn’t help,” he added.</blockquote>

Needless to say, these comments will continue to rub people the wrong way. And while accountability is important, the coach should also lead by example, and he might lose his players’ trust with these kinds of statements.

When the Arkansas Razorbacks hired John Calipari to take their program to the next level, it didn’t take long before fans and analysts alike gave them the nod as a legitimate dark horse.



This season, however, they have struggled to live up to those expectations. That was the case again in the loss against LSU, as they blew a 12-point lead late in the game for another loss.



The Razorbacks were up by seven in the second half, but LSU took over with 11 minutes and never lost control of the game. After the 78-74 setback, coach Calipari admitted that the loss was on him.

<h2>Dawn Staley excited about Unrivaled</h2>



Staley will also have a reason to stay busy off the court with the start of Unrivaled, a 3-on-3 women’s basketball league where she’s an investor, as the competition starts on Friday.



“I think it’s a great time because we’re in a great place where women’s basketball is wanted, we’re in demand,” Staley said Wednesday. “I think it’s going to be a success and I would have supported it without monetarily supporting it just because I am a fan and enthusiast of women’s basketball.”

Flagg put together a tent and camped at the free-throw line all game long. He went 16-of-17 from the charity stripe, and he headlined the importance of drawing contact:

The young guard then made sure to give legends like Chris Paul and Dwyane Wade their flowers as well, as they’re very close to him and his brother and two of LeBron’s lifelong friends in the league.

Geno Auriemma has coached more stars than the average head coach. During his long and successful 40-year tenure with the UConn Huskies, he’s established himself as a <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/college-basketball" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">college basketball </a>legend.



Auriemma has taken many legends of the game under his wing. Notably, that includes WNBA superstar Diana Taurasi, who once took the team on her shoulders.



Taurasi was forced to do all of the heavy lifting to keep her team afloat. That’s why Coach Auriemma put his players on blast, letting them know the kind of burden they were laying upon her teammate.

Needless to say, the internet never forgets. Every now and then, those comments resurface and go viral again, with the fans mocking Staley for wrongfully betting against Stephen Curry.

Carmelo Anthony doesn’t get the credit he deserves for an amazing career. Notably, it all started at Syracuse, a program he led to the national championship before entering the NBA.



Now, his son, Kiyan, is looking to follow his steps. A consensus four-star prospect, Anthony is considered to be the best player in the state of New York and also the 33rd-best prospect in his class.



Unsurprisingly, Kiyan announced his commitment to play for his father’s alma mater. With that in mind, Carmelo shared the words he told Kiyan about carrying his torch.

Anthony still has one season left in high school before leaving for college. Given his preparation and skills, it wouldn’t be shocking to see him climb even higher in the rankings.

Flagg, unlike most modern players, takes pride in playing both ends of the floor. Hence, some have compared him with another big forward with 3-and-D expertise, like Andrei Kirilenko.



However, as impressive as his defense has been, his offense hasn’t fallen much behind. According to Koby Del Rosario of Sportskeeda, with his 17.5 points per game, Flagg is on pace to match or surpass Kyrie Irving and Brandon Ingram’s scoring average at Duke.
