For the past couple of years, Dan Hurley has become one of the most talked-about figures in<a href="https://bolavip.com/en/college-basketball" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener"> college basketball</a>. Long before he turned down the Los Angeles Lakers, he was already drawing mixed reviews.



While his tactics and his basketball savviness cannot be discussed, the UConn Huskies head coach also has a fiery nature. Of course, that has often rubbed some people the wrong way.



That’s why, following his latest outburst, in which he proclaimed himself the best coach in college basketball and called out the referees, NCAA analyst Jeff Goodman put him on blast.

<blockquote class="wp-block-quote">“No matter whether you’re pissed off at a call or not, no matter whether you think a ref sucks or not, there’s a way to to deal with referees,” Goodman said. “They’re human beings. They miss calls. They’re out there. And I think the other thing is, if you’re yelling and screaming at these guys and chirping at them the whole time, I’ve always said this, it’s much harder for them to do their jobs.“</blockquote>

Goodman continued by stating that Hurley was ‘disgusting’ for the way he talked to the referees at times, urging him to stay out of their way and just let them to do their jobs:

But just the way he talks to these guys, to me at times, is disgusting. It’s disgusting. and it needs to stop,” he added.</blockquote>

At the end of the day, everybody has their own style, and Hurley’s methods have clearly worked. Then again, perhaps the recent success has gotten a little to his head.

When the Arkansas Razorbacks brought John Calipari to be their next head coach, they hoped it wouldn’t be long before he took them to the top. And with a star-studded roster, it surely seemed that way.



However, that hasn’t been the case so far, and his team may have reached a new low. They dropped to 0-5 in conference play after a 83-65 setback against Missouri on Saturday.



With that in mind, former <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/nba" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">NBA</a> player Theo Pinson claimed that even though it’s his first year and he’s John Calipari, he should still be at risk of losing his job after this season.

The Razorbacks’ offense needs a lot of sharpening, and time is running out of them. They’re currently rank 91st in offensive efficiency, and it seems like the players are being asked to play out of the strengths.

To add insult to injury, their schedule won’t getmuch easier. They have to meet the Georgia Bulldogs on Wednesday night, and another loss could all but end their campaign.

When it rains, it pours for the Arkansas Razorbacks. The team couldn’t get past Missouri in their latest outing, and that 83-65 setback dropped them to 0-5 in SEC play this season.



If that wasn’t bad enough, they will now have to get by without one of their best players for the remainder of the season. Boogie Fland has been struggling with a hand injury, and he will have to miss a long time.



Fland sustained the hand injury against Florida on January 11. And while he was still able to play against LSU and Missouri, John Calipari just confirmed that he’ll miss the remainder of the year.

Fland had been a bright spot for the slumping Raxorbacks, averaging 15.1 points, 5.7 assists, and 3.4 rebounds per game. Some even considered him a potential <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/nba" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">NBA</a> draft pick.

Now, with the 6-foot-2 guard out for the long run, the Razorbacks will need a team effort to recover from their worst start to conference play in the past four decades.

With 18 points in the 96-36 blowout win over Seton Hall, the future WNBA star became the fastest player to score 2,000 points for the Huskies. Given their plethora of top recruits, that’s a lot to say.



Bueckers only needed 102 games to reach that milestone, six fewer than the legendary Maya Moore. She’s now the 12th player in program history to score 2,000. When asked about that, however, she know it was about to happen eventually.

The coach raved about his players’ focus. He believes that has been the key behind their development and continuous improvement throughout the course of the season:

They’ve fared quite well so far, going 15-2 overall and 7-0 in the ACC. Nonetheless, Jay Jack still doesn’t see them being ready to win the whole thing this season.

Jay did admit that the Blue Devils are as talented as any team can hope to be. Nevertheless, they’re also very young, and he knows they’ll be under a lot of pressure:

He then doubled down on his criticism of Coach Cal by pointing out how Mark Pope was able to build a competitive squad at Kentucky despite not having any returning starters:

However, there’s one guy who could still challenge him at the top of most big boards. Rutgers star Ace Bailey is also a unique physical specimen, and his scoring prowess is off the charts.



Nevertheless, as impressive as Bailey has been and as high a ceiling as he has, Derek Parker of Sports Illustrated still has some legitimate concerns about his game.



<h2>Ace Bailey’s defense continues to raise doubts</h2>



<blockquote class="wp-block-quote">“While Bailey has shown high points throughout the entire season, there’s been low points in the form of inefficient shooting, little to no distribution and inconsistent defense,” Parker wrote. </blockquote>

Of course, it’s not all bad. Even though the defensive consistency and the playmaking haven’t been there, Bailey’s shot selection and effectiveness have improved over the season:

Dawn Staley has had one of the most incredible careers in basketball history. She’s excelled at every level, and as such, it’s only right that she finally gets her flowers.



That’s why the South Carolina Gamecocks head coach is about to get perhaps the biggest honor anybody tied to the beautiful game of basketball could ever hope for.



According to a press release, Staley is set to be inducted into the FIBA Hall of Fame Class of 2025. They’ll honor her unmatched trajectory with Team USA, both as a player and a coach. 



<h2>Dawn Staley to be a FIBA Hall of Famer</h2>



<blockquote class="wp-block-quote">“Staley won a total of 10 gold medals as an athlete, before transitioning to the sidelines. As the head coach, Staley steered the USA to gold at the FIBA Women’s Basketball World Cup 2018 and at the 2020 Olympic Games,” the institution wrote in its release. </blockquote>

That kind of fast-paced offense will definitely put the Wildcats’ defense to the test. There will be no time to celebrate a big play; everybody will have to get back on defense right away:

That was perhaps the most impressive part of the game. Flagg only missed three of his 14 shots to get his 42 points. He went to the line 17 times and made 16 of his shots. At that rate, he’s just going to be impossible to stop.

Notre Dame Fighting Irish guard Hannah Hidalgo has been one of the most talked-about players in all of <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/college-basketball" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">college basketball</a> this season. She’s put on a show night in and night out.



The tiny sophomore is shooting the ball at a 50.7% clip and 45.8% from beyond the arc, and her explosive outbursts have become more common as she gets settled in.



However, she’s not that moved by her scoring prowess. If anything, the 5-foot-6 player recently said on the “Sometimes I Hoop” podcast that, given her lack of size, she’s always taken pride in her defense. 



<h2>Hannah Hidalgo says she’s driven by defense, not offense </h2>



<blockquote class="wp-block-quote">“I get my energy from my defense, especially being a smaller guard,” Hidalgo said. “Always being a smaller guard, I had to figure out how to do something else, because scoring wasn’t always my thing, especially playing against bigger girls.”</blockquote>

Hidalgo admitted that she didn’t have much of a physical edge over her competition. As such, she had to become a crafty scorer and, more importantly, a lockdown defender.

Of course, her defense has been notorious, but her 25.7 points per game would make people think of her as an offensive-driven player, even though she also averages 4.1 steals per game.
