Aaron Rodgers has had several days to process the Steelers’ loss to the Los Angeles Chargers. According to the veteran quarterback, these were the key factors behind one of the offense’s worst performances of the season.

ā€œThird down wasn’t very good. Obviously, field position didn’t help, but, when you’re backed up, you got to get a first down or a couple of first downs to shift that. We didn’t do that and we turned the ball over too many times.ā€

The Pittsburgh Steelers have a 5-4 record, and their inconsistency keeps them from being considered Super Bowl contenders by experts. However, Rodgers believes they can improve to make a deep playoff run and thinks the team is prepared for anything opposing defenses throw at them from now until the end of the season. ā€œThere’s some things we can work on for sure. I have a lot of confidence in our ability to counter whatever anybody throws our way.ā€

Who is starting running back for Steelers?

Jaylen Warren is the starting running back for the Steelers, but one of the major criticisms of Mike Tomlin’s offense is that they haven’t used him enough, especially in short-yardage situations on third downs.

Practically all week, the questions have focused on why Warren hasn’t appeared more in those crucial plays, and while Rodgers knows that Jaylen is a great asset, he also points out that Kenneth Gainwell has been very productive for the Steelers on third downs.

ā€œYeah, I’d love to see Jaylen on first, second, or third down, but, I’d love seeing Kenny (Gainwell) on first, second and third down too. So, we got the luxury of having those two guys. I think we need to keep getting Jaylen more runs on first, second down and mix them in on third down, but, Kenny’s done a great job on third down for us.ā€
