Even if TB wins their last 2 games and CAR loses their last 2, they’re both 9-8 and Carolina owns the tiebreaker,” Salmingo wrote. 



Of course, at the end of the day, it will all depend on whether the Panthers can get the job done as well. And while they haven’t been in this position in quite a while, it looks like they will be just fine.

Rivers made his last career appearance on January 9, 2021, when the Colts lost to the Buffalo Bills by a score of 27-24 in the Wildcard Round of the <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/nfl">NFL</a> Playoffs. Rivers hanged the cleats after that defeat in upstate New York and hasn’t played since. However, desperate times require desperate measures, and the potential future Hall of Famer could write one last chapter in his career.



If Rivers indeed plays for the Colts in the 2025 NFL season, he would become the <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/nfl/oldest-quarterbacks-in-the-nfl">oldest active quarterback in the league</a>, and possibly the fourth-oldest to ever start a game.

<h2>Rivers’ stats during 2020 season with Colts</h2>



Though Rivers is mostly linked to the Chargers—San Diego and Los Angeles—as he played for that organization from 2004 to 2019, he did put together an incredible season with the Colts in 2020. Rivers finished the campaign with 369 completions for 4,169 passing yards, 24 touchdowns, and 11 interceptions. Moreover, he led Indianapolis to an 11-5 finish, though he couldn’t get past the first round of the postseason.

Since Rivers retired, the Colts haven’t seen such prolific production at the quarterback position. Carson Wentz, Matt Ryan, Gardner Minshew, Anthony Richardson, and Joe Flacco all tried to establish themselves as QB1, but each and every one struggled to be consistent. Daniel Jones has been the biggest beacon of hope for the fanbase in The Crossroads of America, but that has now come crashing down after the heartbreaking non-contact injury.



<h2>Colts face drama at QB room</h2>



With both Daniel Jones and Anthony Richardson placed on Injured Reserve (IR), the Colts currently have no other healthy option at the quarterback position than rookie Riley Leonard.

However, even the product out of the University of Notre Dame is now questionable to play on Sunday. Dealing with a knee injury, if the rookie quarterback can’t put on the pads when Indianapolis takes on the Seattle Seahawks in Emerald City, then Shane Steichen and company will find themselves in a hole not even Jonathan Taylor can climb them out of. 



As it stands, rookie tight end Tyler Warren is listed as the emergency quarterback in Indy. The Colts selected Warren largely because of his ability to mold into any position and virtually play in every inch of the field. Still, commanding an offense against one of the top defenses in the NFL seems like a task too big for a first-year playmaker like Warren. Perhaps, as wild of an idea as it sounds, bringing Rivers back from retirement is a far wiser decision for Indy.

This was asked because of Johnson’s comments saying he enjoyed beating LaFleur twice a year when he was the Detroit Lions offensive coordinator. 



Well quarterback <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/topic/jordan-love" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Jordan Love</a> didn’t agree with his coach. “Yeah, it meant a lot to everybody. But obviously, we’ve all known the comments that were out there so it is what it is. This is a game that means a lot to everybody. It’s an NFC North matchup. Obviously, Bears were No. 1 seed. So, it’s a huge game. We’ll see these guys here in a couple weeks again.” Love has his coach’s back.



<h2>Ben Johnson was somewhat unapologetic</h2>



Instead of going back on his words or apologizing, <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/topic/ben-johnson" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Johnson</a> pretty much avoided the topic altogether. He was more adamant that his revenge will come in a matter of weeks.

“I think it’s awesome to have this rivalry alive and well right now. We’ll get another chance at it here in two weeks,” Johnson said after the game. And that is true, LaFleur, Love and the <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/topic/green-bay-packers" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Packers</a> won the first round, but Week 16 will pit them against the Bears once again, but this time in Soldier Field.

<h2>It was a close, tough game between two really good teams</h2>



Packers won 28-21 but the Bears had the tie if it wasn’t for a <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/topic/caleb-williams" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Caleb Williams</a> end zone interception with less than 30 seconds to go. In fact, the Bears were very successful in the second half after the first one ended 14-3 in favor of Green Bay.



To be fair, Green Bay deserved the win when looking at the stats, but the Bears almost pulled a miraculous comeback by pure grit. In two weeks time, the Packers can knock out the Bears, or Chicago can exact revenge on Green Bay.

Making the postseason is a longshot, but as long they are mathematically alive in the race, McDaniel and company will give their best effort. Ahead of the visit to <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/topic/mike-tomlin">Tomlin</a>, Rodgers, and the Steelers in Pittsburgh, McDaniel made something clear about Achane, who missed a big chunk of the action during Miami’s 34-10 win over the New York Jets.

“I promise you, [Achane] will be in there if he’s ready,” McDaniel answered on a question about De’Von Achane, via ESPN’s Marcel Louis-Jacques on X. If Achane is truly 100%, Tomlin and the Steelers must come up with a plan to neutralize one of the best running backs in the NFL.



<h2>Steelers vs Dolphins: A pivotal matchup</h2>

As reported by The Miami Herald’s Barry Jackson, McDaniel stated Achane is very motivated. Had the Dolphins needed him, Achane would’ve returned to the game against the Jets. However, as Miami cruised to victory at MetLife Stadium, McDaniel believed resting Achane was the smarter decision.



The Dolphins could afford to rely on depth options like Jaylen Wright and Ollie Gordon when facing the bottom-feeding Jets. However, when taking on <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/topic/aaron-rodgers">Rodgers</a>’ Steelers in a cold night game on the road, Miami will need all hands on deck. 



Tua Tagovailoa has long struggled when playing outside in the elements and away from Miami Gardens late in the year. If the best player on the team isn’t good to go, the game could be over before kickoff for the Phins—and with it, their playoff dreams would come crashing down.

One of the most underrated things in football are the coaching rivalries. Head coaches Matt LaFleur and Ben Johnson had a quick handshake filled with tension. 



<a href="https://bolavip.com/en/topic/matt-lafleur" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">LaFleur</a> spoke to the press and he wasn’t eager to speak too much about the incident. “Just a quick handshake,” LaFleur said about it. “We’ll see them again in two weeks.” Not that many words, but the latter part of the quote is very telling. Pure divisional rivalry there.



The pot was initially stirred by <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/topic/ben-johnson" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Ben Johnson</a>, who jabbed LaFleur as soon as he got hired as the Bears coach. He said he enjoyed beating the Packers coach twice a year when he was the Lions’ offensive coordinator. However, LaFleur now rubbed it off saying no extra satisfaction was taken after the win. “No, absolutely not. It’s Packers-Bears. It’s a great rivalry. Certainly, with what was at stake in regards to positioning in the NFC North, that’s the only thing that matters.”



<h2>Ben Johnson loves football</h2>

“I do think there’s some aura that comes with playing here and competing here. I love it for our guys. This is what the football gods made football to be, cold weather in December like this,” Johnson said. “Green Bay, Chicago, I think that’s outstanding. The Bears were the number one seed, and after yesterday’s loss, they got downgraded all the way to the seventh seed. It was a very tough loss for a team that was riding on big momentum. 



Now the Packers lead the NFC North with a 9-3-1 record, while the Bears have a 9-4 record. However, the <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/topic/detroit-lions" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Lions</a>, Johnson’s former team, is just behind at 8-5. Right now is a tough division, made in football heaven.

Daniel Jones’ severe injury will sideline him for the remainder of the campaign, and looking ahead, Shane Steichen still has no certainty about who will step in as his replacement.



What’s causing this situation? According to insider Adam Schefter via his X account, Riley Leonard is dealing with a knee injury and is doubtful to be available in Seattle next weekend.
