Tom Brady and Bill Belichick formed one of, if not the greatest quarterback-coach duo in <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/nfl">NFL</a> history. Together, they led the New England Patriots to an unprecedented six Super Bowl wins.



But it wasn’t all sunshine and roses in Foxborough. While Brady has shown nothing but praise for Belichick even after leaving the <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/topic/new-england-patriots">Patriots</a>, Tom has recently admitted there was something about Bill’s coaching style he didn’t like too much.



“We all felt fortunate to play for him, and there were many benefits to his approach, but his motivational style — often based on fear — was sometimes difficult,” Brady said, via Harvard Business Review‘s Nitin Nohrin. “So as a team leader, I tried to complement that approach by being a bit more upbeat.”



This doesn’t take away from the fact Brady refers to <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/topic/bill-belichick">Belichick</a> as “the greatest coach in the history of the NFL,” but it does seem to shed more light into his decision to leave New England in 2020. Either way, Brady still appreciates everything he’s learned from his former coach.

“I like to think my style complemented coach Belichick’s,” Brady said. “I was lucky to play for a coach who was so smart, hardworking, and focused on discipline — a coach who relentlessly held people accountable for doing their job. He was fortunate to have someone like me who could recognize where the team was at emotionally, rally the troops, and pull people together.”

During the team’s 14-13 loss to the Eagles in Week 2 of the preseason, Boutte caught three out of four passes for 23 yards, with a remarkable catch following a poor throw by Drake Maye.



“He’s making a great case,” head coach Jerod Mayo said about Boutte. “Seems like every day he’s making plays. He runs good routes. He has good hands. The run after, the catchability, it’s all there. Now, it’s about gaining the trust not only of your teammates but also the coaches. So, he definitely has a chance.“

“And it ultimately comes down to Jerry Jones. And Jerry Jones wants to win a [Super] Bowl. For him to get that Bowl, his options are running out. And that last option for him to make this thing come to light is Bill Belichick,” Samuel added.

<h2>McCarthy in a make-or-break year with Cowboys</h2>



<a href="https://bolavip.com/en/topic/mike-mccarthy">McCarthy</a>, 60, took the reins of the Cowboys in 2020 after a 13-year stint in charge of the Green Bay Packers, whom he led to Super Bowl victory in the 2010 NFL season.



However, his time in Dallas has been marked by the lack of postseason success. The Cowboys have had strong regular season performances, but have so far failed to make a deep playoff run under McCarthy.



Last season ended with a humiliating home loss to the Packers in the Wild Card round, which put the head coach under heavy fire. In the final year of his contract, McCarthy seems to be under the microscope.

Jimmy Garoppolo is starting a new chapter in his career. The 32-year-old will be playing for the Los Angeles Rams in the 2024 <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/nfl">NFL</a> season, following stops with the New England Patriots, San Francisco 49ers, and Las Vegas Raiders.



Even though he’s expected to sit behind Matthew Stafford this year, <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/topic/jimmy-garoppolo">Garoppolo</a> seems to be happier with his role in LA right now than with his previous teams. That’s what he suggested in an interview with The Athletic.



“This place allows you to be yourself, too, which is different than other places I’ve been,” Garoppolo said. “You’re getting pressed with a sense of urgency but in a good way. Obviously, everyone wants to win. Everyone wants to perform well. They do it in the right way here. They push you positively. There’s just a lot of good things going on, man. I’m enjoying every bit of it. Even the meetings are a good time. Everything is going good right now.”



Jimmy G was drafted by the <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/topic/new-england-patriots">Patriots</a> in 2014, but with Tom Brady above him, he left for the Niners in 2017. Garoppolo got to start and even made a trip to the Super Bowl in <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/topic/san-francisco-49ers">San Francisco</a>.

However, his time in the Bay area came to an end in 2022 with the team promoting Trey Lance and Brock Purdy. Garoppolo tried to get his career back on track in <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/topic/las-vegas-raiders">Las Vegas</a> last season, but nothing went according to plan.

“It was chaotic at times, but they’re all learning experiences,” Garoppolo said. “That’s one thing I’ve taken from this. The NFL is crazy, man. Everyone has got a story. Everyone is going whichever way trying to make it. But at the end of the day, it’s your story, and you’ve got to make the best of it. Good, bad, or indifferent, whatever happened in the past, it happened. . . . Now I’m here, and I’m just trying to make every day the best day.”

The organization had high hopes for the former North Carolina standout, but his inconsistent performance during training camps and the impressive showings of fellow rookie Joe Milton III have left the starting QB position still uncertain.



<h2>Alternatives for the quarterback position in the debut</h2>



Although third overall pick Drake Maye was initially the favorite to start the season as the quarterback, his underwhelming performances have led to a reassessment of that decision. Behind him are the experienced Jacoby Brissett, whom head coach Mayo has spoken highly of, and fellow rookie Joe Milton III, who is also under serious consideration due to his strong showing in minicamps.



Also in the mix, though somewhat less prominently, is Bailey Zappe. He has previously competed for the QB position against Mac Jones in past seasons.

On Wednesday, it was confirmed <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/topic/bill-belichick">Belichick</a> will provide team-by-team and game-by-game analysis on a weekly basis for a show he will create and co-produce with Underdog Fantasy.



“… I want to find a connection to the fans where I can give the fans what they’ve asked me for in terms of content,” Belichick said in a promotional video, as quoted by NESN.

“Out here on the field, you can script everything. You have a controlled environment, and when I talk about pro-ready, it’s the off-schedule plays. It’s being able to pull the nose up on the plane as it’s going down. However, it looks like the six-time Super Bowl champion didn’t give much advice to his former player as Mayo prepares for the job <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/topic/bill-belichick">Belichick</a> had for 24 years.



In an interview with Kay Adams on “Up &amp; Adams” Monday, Mayo was asked whether Belichick reached out ahead of his new gig in <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/topic/new-england-patriots">New England</a>, in what will be Mayo’s first experience as head coach.



“That’s a tough question,” Mayo said. “We haven’t had a lot of communication since I’ve been here and honestly, for me, my focus is the players. It’s all about the players. I learned a lot from Bill, I honestly did — X’s and O’s and also structure in practice and things like that. But, like I said, it’s a different era and a different time, and hopefully we can have that same success.”

Even though he bid farewell with a press conference alongside Patriots owner Robert Kraft, Belichick is probably not happy with the way his time in New England came to an end. And it may explain why he hasn’t talked that much with the man who will replace him.

<h2>The history between Belichick and Mayo</h2>



Belichick was responsible of Mayo getting selected out of Tennesse by the Patriots with the 10th overall pick in the first round of the 2008 NFL Draft. From then on, they forged a great relationship that continued after the linebacker’s retirement.



Mayo spent his entire playing career in Foxborough, playing for the Patriots for eight seasons between 2008 and 2015. Four years after retiring, he joined Belichick’s staff as linebackers coach. Five seasons later, Mayo was promoted to become the franchise’s first head coach after more than two decades on Belichick’s watch. 



Even though he’ll try to bring back glory days to Gillette Stadium, <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/nfl/nfl-news-jerod-mayo-warns-patriots-fans-ahead-of-first-season-without-bill-belichick">Mayo has already warned Patriots fans</a> to have realistic expectations for 2024 as the team has a long way to go to get back to the top.
