Once again,<a href="https://bolavip.com/en/topic/kevin-durant" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener"> Kevin Durant </a>was the centerpiece of the most disappointing team in the <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/topic/nba" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">NBA</a>. Perhaps he’s cursed, but it seems like it doesn’t matter how many stars he teams up with, he’s always going to fall short.



Needless to say, he’s far from the only one to blame for the <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/topic/phoenix-suns" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Phoenix Suns</a>‘ debacle. He averaged 26.8 points per game on 55.2% from the field, yet he couldn’t prevent a first-round sweep against the Minnesota Timberwolves.



Following the elimination, a report by Shams Charania of The Athletic revealed that the two-time NBA champion never truly felt comfortable in the offense next to Devin Booker and Bradley Beal.

“Meanwhile, Durant, among the best scorers in NBA history, was not always happy with how he was used,” read the report. “Sources briefed on the matter told The Athletic that Durant never felt comfortable with his role in Phoenix’s offense alongside Booker and Beal this season. Those sources said Durant had persistent issues with the offense, feeling that he was being relegated to the corner far too often and not having the proper designs to play to his strengths as the offense was built around pick-and-rolls.”

This is far from a surprise, as the Suns didn’t have a floor general or a traditional point guard. That made their offense stagnant, predictable, and ISO-heavy, with four players looking around whenever one had the ball.



<h2>Durant Never Complained</h2>



Despite their evident issues, Durant never complained. Some close to him thought he had to address those concerns with coach Frank Vogel, but that was never the case:



“At the same time, some teammates and people close to the organization believed Durant needed to voice his concerns more adamantly and directly with Vogel and his coaching staff,“ the report added.



Durant has never been that kind of player. He’s not a vocal leader — which is fine — and he takes pride on being a plug-and-play kind of guy. In the end, that cost his team again.



Perhaps this will finally make people appreciate Stephen Curry a little more. Durant has played with countless future Hall of Famers, yet he’s never even been back to the NBA Finals since he left his side.

Now, the Suns’ future is more than uncertain. They’re in a tough spot with the salary cap, and have no control of their first-round picks through 2030, so this potential dynasty could end up being another disaster.

Now, despite dominating them in the regular season, they’ve fallen to a 0-2 hole vs. the Minnesota Timberwolves. Even so, the Big 3 of <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/topic/kevin-durant" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Kevin Durant</a>, Bradley Beal, and Devin Booker still like their chances.



<h2>Suns Stars Are Still Confident Vs. Timberwolves</h2>



“Don’t count us out,” Booker said after the loss. “It’s a series for a reason. I don’t think any road teams won so far. I know that doesn’t have anything to do with us, but it’s just the situation that it is.”

The series will now head to Phoenix for Games 3 and 4, and Durant wants the fans to rally behind them and become a factor when the Timberwolves arrive in The Valley:



“Can’t give up on us right now,” Durant said. “Sh*t, need it more than anything. I know it’s been a disappointing last couple games, even the season for our fans, but we need you more than ever now coming back home for Game 3.”



The Suns have struggled to dig themselves out of big holes, and their offense has been stagnant at times. That’s why Beal knows they have to be mentally stronger and get everybody on the same page:



“You have to,” Beal said. “Whatever it takes as a team. We gotta be better at coming together collectively in those moments. It’s crazy, nobody’s energy is in the wrong space, nobody’s mindset is in the wrong place.”

Durant doubled down on his take by stating that he’s identified and purposedly gotten away from some players, adding that they’re ‘crash dummies’ who won’t mind huting people to sell a foul call:



“Just stay away from the crash dummies, you know,” Durant added. “The dudes who try to sell calls and don’t mind hurting people by diving on the floor trying to sell a call. I know who those guys are, and I try to stay away from them.”

Then, in the eleventh hour, they wound up signing for their city rivals, the<a href="https://bolavip.com/en/topic/brooklyn-nets" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener"> Brooklyn Nets.</a>



Fast forward to today, and the two-time NBA champion dunked on the Knicks once again, admitting that his agent was pushing for him to join them, but they just weren’t cool.

“At that time, they weren’t. The Knicks weren’t cool,” Durant said. “But they are a cool brand. Like right now, they poppin’—last few years. But before that—the brand was cool, but I was looking at the team.”

Durant stated that the team simply wasn’t cool to watch. He loved living in New York City, and the Knicks were a strong brand, but that wasn’t enough to convince him:



“And the team was not cool to play for,” continued Durant. “The team was not cool to watch— I might have embellished or lied a little bit about the brand; I might’ve thrown the brand in there too. But of course, the Knicks brand, like—living in New York made me truly realize how it’s the greatest city in the world.”



Ironically, it’s not like the Nets were the most competitive team in the league by any means when he signed with them, so he would’ve also had to uplift their brand with his arrival.

At the end of the day, after all that transpired, perhaps Knicks fans are actually relieved that he didn’t join the team. Even so, some will always wonder what could’ve been.

“Everyone was questioning what I said to KD at the end of the game,” Green said on his podcast. “‘This is me. It’s me.’ I’m not going to share the other word that I said because, you know, that’s a spur-of-the-moment type of thing.”



Green admitted that he’s lost plenty of money for using that word so lightly. Then again, he was as unapologetic as always, and he’s just not going to change the way he handles hismelf on the court:



“You’re in a game and words come up,” Green continued. “But this is me. I do this. [I’ve] been doing this. Going to keep doing this. Which is the same thing that I said in that Clippers game years ago. [I’ve] been winning championships. [I’ve] been doing this. [I’m] going to keep doing this when you leave here. I didn’t lie, got fined a whole game check which is like $160,000 for saying that.”

The rematch between <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/topic/golden-state-warriors" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Golden State Warriors</a> and <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/topic/phoenix-suns" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Phoenix Suns</a> had some heated moments, including both players trading ‘too small’ celebrations after buckets.



Green dominated Nurkic all night long, and the Bosnian big man didn’t care for his trash-talking. That’s why, following the loss, he took a big shot at Green, taking back the wishes he shared when he was suspended:



“I mean, it’s sad. He didn’t learn anything,” Nurkic said. “Just matter of time; he’s gonna knock somebody else again. I take everything back, what I said. He don’t deserve a chance. His antics. Try to hit people. Just stuff he shouldn’t do.“

Needless to say, that rubbed Green the wrong way. He went on his podcast to put Nurkic on blast, stating that he was out of line for those comments after he beat him fair and square:

“What happened in the game that would make you say that, other than you getting embarrassed because you’re just not good enough?” Green said. “He starts to question my character. What a coward.”



Notably, he didn’t stop there. He also took offense at Kevin Durant’s previous comments when he said he hoped Green would ‘get the help he needed,’ going as far as to say it was ‘cowardly:’



“Guys are making a habit out of that. Him and Kevin questioning my character before, as if you’re going to question somebody’s character by the basketball game as if it’s not real life,” Green said. “As if that don’t affect people’s pockets. Like, I think all of it was really cowardly if you want my honest opinion.”

Green will never be the one to mince his words about anything, and he’s a bit of a troublemaker. Then again, it’s not like he was in rehab or something like that, so perhaps the Suns’ players’ comments were uncalled for.

Durant’s tenure in Brooklyn was dark and full of controversy, drama, and shortcomings. It wasn’t his fault for the most part, but it wasn’t an enjoyable moment for the fans, the organization, or even his teammates.



That’s why he admits that there should be no point in him getting any sort of tribute or video from the organization, and he simply didn’t do anything to earn that honor.



<h2>Durant Says He Doesn’t Deserve A Tribute From The Nets</h2>



“What did I do to deserve that? Seriously, or is it because of my name?” Durant asked. “I’m just another player, man. I don’t deserve none of this extra attention, everybody looking at me when the game starts. The game is about all the players on the court. It ain’t about me. I was there for three years, four years and we didn’t accomplish anything worth being celebrated for. That’s just how I feel. I didn’t feel like I stayed there long enough. I didn’t put in enough work. I didn’t leave a lasting impact.”

Needless to say, those words rubbed some fans the wrong way, as usually happens with everything revolving around Durant. That’s why he took some time to explain his reasoning, adding that he didn’t even ask for any of this:



“I’m not expecting people to praise me or honor me,” Durant said. “I didn’t even pose the question. Somebody else brought it up randomly out of nowhere. I just gave them my input on that. I don’t feel like I deserve one. I didn’t feel like I stayed there long enough. I didn’t put in enough work. I didn’t leave a lasting impact.”



At the end of the day, Kevin Durant will go down as one of the greatest players without a single fan base rooting for him. That’s, of course, unless he leads the P<a href="https://bolavip.com/en/topic/phoenix-suns" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">hoenix Suns</a> to an NBA championship.



Durant’s words have often been misinterpreted, and his unapologetic and harsh nature has helped him be portrayed as this kind of villain who won’t tolerate any sort of criticism or comment about him.

With that in mind, Duane Rankin of The Arizona Republic revealed that they’re keeping tabs on <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/topic/charlotte-hornets" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Charlotte Hornets</a> SF/PF Miles Bridges, a bruising and physical scorer and rebounder.

“Sources confirmed to The Republic the Suns are interested in the Charlotte Hornets forward, who will be an unrestricted free agent after this season,” wrote Rankin. “The Suns aren’t just looking at Bridges as they have 10 or more players on their radar, sources tell The Republic.”

Needless to say, trading for Bridges does come with some questions because of his well-documented character issues, and it could be a bit of a PR risk. Then again, this team is willing to do whatever it takes to get to the next level.

ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, perhaps the most reliable source when it comes to NBA news, reported that Durant has grown sick and tired of<a href="https://bolavip.com/en/topic/bradley-beal" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener"> Bradley Beal’s</a> constant absences and his team’s struggles this season:



“Let’s start with Kevin Durant. He talked to people around the Phoenix organization. They can feel the frustration with Durant. Part of it is because of the missed game for Bradley Beal. This team was built around those three stars,” reported Woj. “They lack the assets to go out and improve this team. This is something they have to manage in Phoenix with Kevin Durant. It’s a stark reminder of how short of a window. This team needs to win big and win big quickly. Having Kevin Durant still play at an All-NBA level and be healthy, there’s a lot at stake for this organization.”



<h2>Durant Dismisses Woj Report</h2>



Durant took to Instagram to claim that Woj’s report wasn’t accurate, adding that it’s crazy that people ignore when his teammates speak highly on him, but don’t hesitate to believe negative reports about him.

The reality is that the Suns aren’t playing good basketball right now, and Durant does have a tendency to bail on his teammates and throw them under the bus when things don’t go his way, so it’s hard not to believe the most reliable source of NBA news for the past two decades when he reports something like this.

At least on paper. But as we’ve seen countless times, paper doesn’t win<a href="https://bolavip.com/en/topic/nba" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener"> NBA</a> championships, and it takes more than just stacking talent to make things work.



Br<a href="https://bolavip.com/en/topic/bradley-beal" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">adley Beal’s </a>addition was as promising as it was intriguing. Most people expected him to mesh right away with <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/topic/kevin-durant" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Kevin Durant</a> and Devin Booker, but those who were worried about his availability — or lack thereof — were proven right at the beginning of the season.



The former <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/topic/washington-wizards" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Washington Wizards</a> star has missed 22 of his team’s first 28 games. They’re 14-14 and have gone 8-11 in their last 19, ranking 16th in points scored per game (114.5) and 15th in points allowed per game (114.0). Needless to say, those aren’t championship-caliber numbers.



With that in mind, veteran Eric Gordon expressed his concerns about this current slump, urging coach Frank Vogel to get all scorers — not just their two biggest stars — more looks.

<h2>Eric Gordon Complains About Lack Of Touches</h2>



“Early on in the season, it was better,” Eric told Bleacher Report. “And lately, there just hasn’t been an emphasis [to get me more looks]. So, it’s definitely different. Lately I haven’t been getting hardly any touches really.”



The sharpsooting veteran believes that not only himself but the rest of his teammates could contribute to a bigger extent if they got more involved in the offensive gameplan:



“No question. Everybody knows the type of player I am and what I’m about. I came here to win, but what I do is score,” Gordon said. “And I think when I score, it really opens up the door for a lot of people because I can score in big games and in big ways. That’s just what it is.”



As of now, Durant and Booker currently combine for 40.2 of the team’s 86.0 field goal attempts per game. That number goes up to 51.7 whenever Beal is also on the court. Gordon is the only other Sun averaging double-digit in field goal attempts (11.0 per game).

<h2>Booker Is Unfazed By The Struggles</h2>



Even so, Devin Booker isn’t all that concerned about what’s going on. He’s been a part of some very bad teams, so as much as he would rather things look differently right now, he’s got full confidence in Frank Vogel:



“I’ve been through worse than this,” Booker told Bleacher Report. “Remember those first five years for me? I’ve seen this before. I trust everybody in here. We have the talent to turn it around. <h2>Stephen Curry agrees with NBA suspension for Draymond Green</h2>



Furthermore,&nbsp;Stephen Curry&nbsp;agreed with the type of suspension announced by the&nbsp;NBA considering the most important aspect of the game is to protect the integrity of the players.







“The tone has obviously changed from any other suspension. Times have passed where we’re just here because we’re playing basketball. You’ve got to take a step back and make sure everybody is right.”

The incident put Green in the eye of the storm, but Nurkic says he doesn’t have any hard feelings anyway.



“I have a lot of respect for him, obviously, even before this,” Nurkic said, via Duane Rankin of Arizona Republic. “I still have it. I don’t know what people go through. It’s not our problem, but he’s an NBA champion for me, Hall of Famer still.”



Green has been indefinitely suspended by the NBA, with the league claiming a “repeated history of unsportsmanlike acts” led them to make this decision. Nurkic, however, doesn’t celebrate any punishment against the Warriors star.



“It’s kind of sad to see people going in a bad direction,” Nurkic said. “I want him to succeed and still be the Draymond we all know. I have no bad feelings or any hate towards him.”

<h2>Draymond Green apologized after the game</h2>



The clip of Green swinging and hitting Nurkic on the face immediately went viral, as it looked like the Warriors big man was ruthless on his opponent. However, he apologized for the situation, claiming it wasn’t his intention to hit Nurkic.

“I thought he was pulling my hip and I was swinging a way to sell the call, and [I] made contact with him,” Green said, via NBC Sports. “As you know I’m not one to apologize for things I meant to do, but I do apologize to Jusuf [Nurkic] because I didn’t intend to hit him. I sell calls with my arms. I don’t fall to sell a call; I’m not a flopper. So I was just selling the call because he was grabbing me and pulling my hip back. So I spun away and unfortunately, I hit him.”



Since Green was ejected in the third quarter with a Flagrant 2 foul, he had enough time to review the action before addressing the media. Even after watching the replay, Green insisted he had no intention to hit the Suns center on the face.



“If I go look at every replay of everything, a replay is never going to look good,” Green said. “But I know my intentions and my intentions were to sell the call. I also don’t think I’m an accurate enough puncher to do a full 360 and connect with someone. So it’s unfortunate.”



<h2>Nurkic was more angry at Green in his initial reaction</h2>



Nurkic already let it go by Wednesday, but he did look quite angry at Green when talking to the media on Tuesday night.

Green had already received a five-game suspension earlier in the season for putting Timberwolves center Rudy Gobert in a chokehold, adding to his history of altercations. Last year, he stomped on Domanta Sabonis’ chest. Months before that, Green punched Jordan Poole in the Warriors’ training camp.
