<p><strong><a href="https://bolavip.com/en/topic/mls" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Major League Soccer</a></strong>’s players union revealed the salaries of all 29 teams in MLS for the 2024 season. <strong><a href="https://bolavip.com/en/topic/lionel-messi" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Lionel Messi</a> </strong>is the league’s highest earner at $20.4 million, while Inter Miami is the highest spending team in the league with a budget of $41 million.&nbsp;</p>



<p><a href="https://bolavip.com/en/topic/st.-louis-city-sc" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">St. Louis CITY SC</a> is the team with the lowest budget in the league at roughly $12 million for their entire roster. Messi makes more in salary than 86% of the rosters in the league.</p>



<p>Now, reviewing some of the players listed in the MLSPU 2024 salaries, some eye-raising things have been noticed. Namely, there are “MLS Pool” players that are being paid by the league but have no clubs attached to them.</p>

<p><strong>Jozy Altidore</strong>, who has not played professional soccer since 2022 and has not played in MLS since a poor stint with the New England Revolution, is still under contract with MLS. The former USMNT striker is still being paid $2,242,574 by the league, which owns all of the players’ contracts.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Then there are clubs still paying compensation to players who are no longer in MLS, as is the case of Santiago Sosa of Atlanta United, who is on loan to Racing Club.&nbsp; Sosa is listed as being compensated $778,100 by MLS. </p>

<p><strong>Edgar Ié</strong> and much of the world of soccer woke up to the news that a defender playing for Romanian giant <strong>Dinamo Bucharest</strong> is, in fact, a fake and has his twin brother posing as him for his new club.</p>



<p><br>The player in question is 30-year-old Bissau-Guinean Edgar Ié, who has played for clubs in Turkey, the <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/topic/netherlands" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Netherlands</a>, France, and <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/topic/spain" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Spain</a>, having even been a part of FC <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/topic/barcelona" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Barcelona</a>. Romanian journalist Emmanuel Rosu reports that directors of Dinamo Bucharest are under suspicion that the player in question is not Edgar but, in fact, Edelino, his twin brother.<br></p>



<p>The main reason cited for the switch? Language. The report indicates that Edgar is supposedly fluent in English while “this version” of Edgar has a lot of difficulty communicating with the brass at the club.<br></p>

<p>Edelino is also a footballer having played on teams in lower divisions, and according to the report, the Edgar in question refused to show club officials his driver’s license.<br></p>



<p>Reports also indicate that if the player in question is not identified, then Dinamo Bucharest will be deducted points, with the club going as far as a DNA test to find out who the player is.<br></p>

<p>Edgar Ié did not keep silent and spoke with Jijantes FC via podcast and stated that the accusations were <strong><em>“false”</em></strong> and that <strong><em>“he would never do something like this.”</em></strong><br></p>

<p>Two 19-year-old <strong><a href="https://bolavip.com/en/premier-league" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Premier League</a> </strong>players have been suspended by their club and will face rape charges after being arrested at their team stadium The Sun is reporting.</p>



<p>No names nor the club has been released pending the investigation, as both 19-year-olds were taken to a police station and questioned over the incident.</p>



<p>The rape in question is stated to have occurred on Friday, the alleged victim contacted police a few hours after the incident.</p>

<p>Well-traveled midfielder <strong>Pablo Ceppelini </strong>of Uruguay who plays for Atlético Nacional was taking a corner when he was hit by an object that fell from the stands, that object was a knife.</p>

Football is different. Having a woman decide it through VAR… is quite complicated.”</em> The comment was made regarding a non-penalty kick call Vasco suffered last week in their win over Gremio.</p>

<p>Without even leaving the stadium, Diaz and Vasco were made aware of the huge backlash there was online over his statement. The Argentine tried to explain to the members of the press still at the stadium what he meant to say, over what was interpreted about his VAR comment.</p>

In the world of normal soccer transfers there are transfer fees, loans, trades, and buyouts but in the world of MLS there is TAM, GAM, Discovery rights, and U-22 initiatives.</p>



<p>Almost every player in <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/soccer/mls-biggest-flops-reloaded-20240103-BUS-95726.html" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">MLS</a> is not a player but a player with an asterisk in regard to their status: DP, home grown, International, etc. Fans have been overwhelmed by the amount of labeling on <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/soccer/the-top-15-argentine-players-in-mls-history-20210317-0010.html" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">MLS</a> rosters and underwhelmed to see the end result.</p>



<p>Last season all of four teams had a payroll under $20 million, a very small sample of what teams in Brazil and Liga MX are spending on their rosters, Lionel Messi’s contract alone could be worth the budget of two MLS sides just on salary alone.</p>

<p>An increase in GAM in theory could help teams spend more on roster players and increase the quality of players coming off the bench.</p>

<p>The change in the DP rule seems a bit confusing as it seems to be a money shuffle of some kind.</p>



<p>The 2 buyouts are a necessity for MLS teams today as some flops are tied to massive contracts that under the current rules’ teams have difficulty getting out of.</p>

<p>All of these pending rule changes are subject to final approval by the MLSPU and the board of governors has reportedly green lighted the new rules for the summer.</p>

<p><strong>Iñigo Martínez</strong> is one of <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/topic/barcelona" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener"><strong>Barcelona</strong>’</a>s central defenders and was leaving the club’s practice on Monday when a group of teenage fans thought it was a good idea to insult him while he was leaving the club.</p>



<p>Apparently, a young fan yelled at Iñigo Martínez that he was <em><strong>“stupid”</strong></em>, it resulted in the 32-year-old defender slamming the brakes on his Range Rover and getting out, getting in the young man’s face.</p>



<p>The teenager almost immediately pointed to his friend holding a cellphone, who was filming the whole incident, and was lost for words as Martínez did not hold back.</p>



<h2>Iñigo Martínez threatens young fan</h2>



<p>When Iñigo Martínez got out of his car he pointed his finger in the young man’s face and told him<strong><em> “Who are you calling stupid? It’s the last time you call me stupid, THE LAST TIME!”.</em></strong> The young fan could be made out saying <em>“… last time…” </em>signifying that there could have been a previous incident.</p>

<p>Martínez also points to the fan holding the cellphone and reiterates, <em>“it’s the last time you insult me, you and your friend”.</em></p>

<p>Seeing some of the comments posted by young Argentine journalist Valentín Torres Erwerle, apparently many of these “fans” hang around Barcelona’s training center seeking autographs to then sell online. When they don’t get their way, these autograph seekers turn to insults.</p>

<p>Lionel Messi famously was signing autographs while leaving a Barcelona training session when a person holding a cellphone asked for him to sign memorabilia, a bewildered Messi looked at the man and told him, <em>“What’s wrong with you?
