Aaron Rodgers and the Pittsburgh Steelers have a 5-3 record after an impressive 27-20 win over the Indianapolis Colts. Mike Tomlinâs team avoided a three-game losing streak and maintained their two-game lead over the Baltimore Ravens in the AFC North.
After two weeks of heavy criticism, the defense finally bounced back, forcing six turnovers and, perhaps most importantly, stopping running back Jonathan Taylor, who is a candidate for the MVP award.
Meanwhile, Rodgers has proven that he can lead Pittsburgh to the Super Bowl despite being 41 years old. His numbers are very solid, with 1,692 yards, 17 touchdowns, and only five interceptions. Few mistakes could be exactly the formula for success.
Aaron Rodgers talks about Steelersâ wide receivers not getting targets
Despite the good results, Aaron Rodgers has faced some criticism from reporters and insiders in Pittsburgh for not giving his wide receivers enough targets. In fact, the quarterback has had to rely on tight ends like Darnell Washington, Pat Freiermuth, and Jonnu Smith to keep the offense rolling.
This week, before the game against the Chargers, Rodgers was once again asked about the issue, and the quarterbackâs response was straightforward. If any wide receiver has a problem, they can talk to him about it.
âI welcome those conversations. I do. You know, if somebody wants more targets, I welcome the conversation, but, I usually say: âLetâs watch the film. Letâs talk about football.â I mean, I love doing that. I think what young players learn is that practive is very important. When you show it week in and week out in practice, it gives a quarterback a lot of confidence to come your way with the football. Throw it to the open guy. So, whoever gets open, usually gets the opportunities.â
