Aaron Rodgers admitted that his experience in big games could be key for the Pittsburgh Steelers to have success over other AFC teams on the road to the playoffs. With Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs no longer in the picture, the veteran is the only one who knows what it takes to win a championship at the quarterback position.
“Well, I’ve been a part of a lot of meaningful football games down the stretch in my career. I think it’s just a steadiness. Like every game is the same. The games in the beginning of the season are just as important in the win loss column as the games late. Obviously, there’s more pressure. There’s more to play for late in the season because things have started to shake out and you know where you are in the standings. You know what you need to do to get to the next phase of this chapter.”
Although no one considers them favorites, the reality is that the Steelers have the active player with the most MVP awards and the only quarterback in the conference with a Super Bowl ring. That could be a major advantage in the coming weeks.
How can the Steelers clinch a playoff berth?
The Steelers can clinch a playoff berth if they win their three remaining games against the Lions, Browns, and Ravens. Aaron Rodgers said that even though the pressure increases, the approach must remain the same.
“It’s just trying to be the same every single week and trying to bring the same energy, the same consistency and the same level of confidence that you do in Week 1 also in Week 16.”
Another path for the Pittsburgh Steelers to reach the playoffs is if the Ravens lose their upcoming games against the Patriots and the Ravens. In that scenario, Mike Tomlin and the Steelers would only need one win over the Lions or the Browns to get in.
