Of course, given his age, he would be nothing more than a stopgap for the Bulls, a team that has refused to embrace a full-scale rebuild until now. Still, they might have several questions to answer regarding their roster:

Following an early ending to their season, the Golden State Warriors have big decisions to make this offseason. One of them has to do with <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/topic/klay-thompson">Klay Thompson</a>, whose contract is up this summer.



The veteran star’s level has declined in the last two seasons, which is why it’s uncertain what the team will do. According to Anthony Slater of The Athletic, Thompson’s future may depend on what happens with <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/topic/chris-paul">Chris Paul</a>.



“If the Warriors use Paul’s contract in a trade that brings back a large salary, it’d be a pre-free agency signal that Thompson could be on the move,” Slater said. “Warriors owner Joe Lacob has expressed an expectation that they’ll duck the second apron and even a desire to get under the luxury tax (though there’s no official edict). If Paul’s contract is shed entirely, that generates room for a Thompson contract that still keeps their books manageable.”



<h2>Thompson could stay at Warriors but on a bench role</h2>



With <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/topic/stephen-curry">Stephen Curry</a> and Draymond Green not getting any younger, the Dubs aim to use the little cap space they have wisely, and some of their moves will probably be directed at creating more space to maximize their championship window.

Thompson is no longer the key contributor he was back in the day, when he helped the Dubs win four <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/topic/nba">NBA</a> championships. The team still wants him to retire as a Warrior, but of course, his return may depend on if the player accepts a lower salary and a lesser role.

“In Warriors’ coach Steve Kerr’s exit interview, he mentioned the idea of Thompson coming off the bench next season, allowing his minutes and usage to be lessened,” Slater added. “That makes sense in the grand scheme for a 34-year-old wing who has rehabbed two devastating leg injuries and has plenty of backcourt depth behind him.”



With Paul making it clear he’s not retiring anytime soon, it will be up to the <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/topic/nba">Warriors</a> whether CP3 stays or not. He’s under contract for next season but since his $30m is not guaranteed, the Dubs can opt to let him go.



<h2>Steve Kerr wants both Thompson and Paul</h2>



Coach Steve Kerr made it clear he would like to count on Thompson next season, showing support for the 34-year-old after he went scoreless in Golden State’s loss to Sacramento in the Play-In Tournament.



“We need Klay [Thompson] back,” Kerr said after their season-ending loss. “He’s still got good years left. I know I speak for everybody in the organization: we want him back. Obviously, there is business at hand, but what Klay has meant to this franchise, as good as he still is, we desperately want him back.”

However, Kerr stated he wants Paul to stay in the Bay area as well. “Chris has been fantastic, not only on the court but the leadership. He is one of our best players. I love coaching Chris [Paul]. I really hope we bring him back next year,” he said.

According to NBA insider Marc Stein, <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/topic/chris-paul">Chris Paul</a> could be on the Spurs’ radar if the Dubs part with him before his contract for next season in the Bay area becomes guaranteed on June 28.



“A potential team to watch, should Paul and the Warriors part ways, is San Antonio,” Stein said. “Among the early personnel rumbles in circulation: The Spurs could emerge as a Paul suitor if they decide to pursue some veteran know-how on a short-term contract basis to furnish presumptive Rookie of the Year winner Victor Wembanyama with more seasoned help in Year 2.”



Paul, 38, comes from a lackluster season with the <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/topic/golden-state-warriors">Warriors</a>, averaging 9.2 points and 6.8 assists in 58 games, 40 of them coming off the bench. The Dubs now have until June 28 to decide whether his $30 million salary for next season becomes guaranteed or if he’s free to go.

Wembanyama had a fantastic first season in the league, putting him in pole position to win the NBA Rookie of the Year award. But with the <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/topic/san-antonio-spurs">Spurs</a> going 22-60 to finish 14th in the West, it’s crystal clear the rookie needs more talent around him.

Even though he’s been demoted to the bench for the first time in his career and struggled to make an impact with the second unit, Paul is not ready to call it a career yet.



CP3 is planning to play in the <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/topic/nba">NBA</a> for a 20th season, though it’s unclear whether it will be in Golden State or elsewhere. Paul may have not shone for the Dubs, but he could still be useful for a team looking for veteran presence in the locker room.



“I think for me, I showed the ability to adapt and change,” Paul said about his season with the Warriors. “But first and foremost, I’m a competitor. I want to hoop and I just love to play. I love to play; I love to contribute. I think it’s a big summer. I got to get back to work.”



<h2>Warriors still consider re-signing Paul</h2>



There’s still a chance Paul comes back to the Warriors next season, but it looks like that will only be possible if he accepts a lower salary.

“I think admittedly he probably wished he had a larger role and could help the team a little bit more, but I think moving forward because of his production and the guy can still do it and what he means to winning and all that stuff, we certainly have interest in bringing him back,” said Warriors GM Mike Dunleavy, who traded Jordan Poole to get Paul from Washington in the last offseason.

It was definitely something different for Paul, but at 38, he could expect this kind of role at such a star-studded squad. Besides, he came from being shipped by the Phoenix Suns before the Wizards sent him to <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/topic/golden-state-warriors">Golden State</a>.

<h2>Steve Kerr wants Chris Paul back</h2>



Are the Dubs interested in bringing CP3 back for next season? That will be up to the front office, but head coach <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/topic/steve-kerr">Steve Kerr</a> suggested he would like to continue counting on the veteran guard.

“Chris has been fantastic, not only on the court but his leadership,” Kerr said. “It was a difficult situation for him that he handled beautifully. Even though he’s one of our best players, if we want to throw our best players out there and he’s one of them, you start adding up Chris, Steph [Curry], Klay [Thompson] – it’s not the ideal roster for him.“



Paul may have looked a bit different from the years he played in his prime, but still found a way to contribute, especially by mentoring the young players on the roster such as Brandin Podziemski, Trayce Jackson-Davis, Moses Moody and Jonathan Kuminga.



“The way he handled it this year was incredible,” Kerr added about Paul. “So professional, such a great mentor for the younger guys. One of the great pros that I’ve ever been around – just his approach and his attitude and his sacrifice. I loved coaching Chris and I really hope we bring him back next year.”

The Warriors and Thompson couldn’t reach an agreement on a contract extension, and he’ll be an unrestricted free agent, and there’s already one Eastern Conference team <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/nba/klay-thompson-to-get-a-ton-of-money-to-leave-the-warriors" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">looking to sign him</a>.

The Warriors also need to make a decision regarding Chris Paul’s team option. They could pick it up and trade him or just let him walk. Whatever the case, Kerr would also love to have him back:

Usually, <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/topic/nba" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">NBA</a> teams don’t fare well without their best player, and the <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/topic/golden-state-warriors" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Golden State Warriors</a> aren’t the exception to that rule. They desperately need <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/topic/stephen-curry" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Stephen Curry</a> to get back on the floor.



Their woes without Curry were on full display in their latest loss to the undermanned San Antonio Spurs. Fortunately, they were able to get back at them and bounced back with a much-needed road win.



Nonetheless, it seems like the Warriors will need to keep this up without Curry, as coach Steve Kerr already ruled him out from their upcoming matchup with Luka Doncic and the Dallas Mavericks.



<h2>Stephen Curry Will Miss Another Game For The Warriors</h2>



“We needed that. We will re-assess tomorrow but I don’t expect him to play in Dallas, so we got another tough game coming up,” Kerr said. “We needed this one. We’re in a fight right now down the stretch of the season, so good to get a win and build some confidence without Steph.”

<h2>Steve Kerr Trusts Chris Paul</h2>



Even so, Coach Kerr doesn’t want his team to panic. Following the win over the Spurs, he went out of his way to shower Chris Paul in praise for the way he controlled the game:



“He controlled the game, got us organized down the stretch when they were threatening, hit a bunch of big shots, distributed the ball, rebounded, he did everything,” Kerr said. “There’s a reason he’s going to the Hall of Fame, he’s one of the greatest point guards ever and he’s still got a lot left.”

The future Hall of Famer PG turned back the clock by scoring 19 points with eight assists and nine rebounds, and he’ll have to be at his best again to keep the ship afloat while Curry works his way back to the court.

The dynasty seems to be in life support, but just as we’ve seen countless times in the <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/topic/nba" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">NBA</a>, a simple move could galvanize an entire season.



For the first time in his career, it seems like<a href="https://bolavip.com/en/topic/stephen-curry" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener"> Stephen Curry</a> is asking for help. The Dubs have been mostly quiet at the trade deadline during the Steve Kerr era, but they have a new GM in Mike Dunleavy Jr., and they’re going through a bit of a crisis.



Ideally, this team would rather keep their championship core together. Then again, that might not be compatible with what they need to do right now, and the front office could be forced to make some uncomfortable decisions.



The fact of the matter is that all players not named Stephen Curry should be up for grabs. They need to make the most of his prime and title window while it’s still open, and he’s the only player who has proven to be able to lead them to the mountaintop.

<h2>NBA Rumors: Players Who Could Be Traded By The Warriors</h2>



With that in mind, we’ll take a look at the Warriors’ current roster and take a pragmatic approach. Emotions aside, we’ll assess the Warriors’ trade chips and choose the three players they should strongly consider trading, as hard as it might be.



<h2>3. Andrew Wiggins</h2>



Andrew Wiggins played a huge role in their last championship run, and they rewarded him with a big contract. Unfortunately, he was never to play up to that same level, missing most of last season with an undisclosed personal matter, and now even losing his starting spot.



Wiggins had become a fan favorite and a big part of the rotation, but he’s lost his ground. Rookie Brandon Podziemski has been better, and Wiggins’ salary could be a valuable asset in any potential move.



<h2>2. Draymond Green</h2>



As much as everybody would hate to admit it, Draymond Green has overstayed his welcome in the Bay area. His character issues have hurt the team too often this season, and he’s not making much of an impact on offense when he’s not creating for others.

Green is still an elite and versatile defender and a very intelligent player. Then again, it’s Jonathan Kuminga’s time to break out, and team owner Joe Lacob has made it loud and clear that he won’t trade him, so Green is now the odd man out.



<h2>1. Chris Paul</h2>



Chris Paul’s trade value took a massive hit when he suffered an injury a couple of weeks ago. Even so, and even though he’s not to blame for the team’s struggles, it’s more than evident that he hasn’t done much to help with them either.

It’s tough and sad to realize that one of the greatest point guards of all time might retire without an NBA championship. But the Warriors need to just cut the cord and use his expiring deal to get themselves some more depth and guys who can help them now and in the future.

Even non-NBA fans seem to be aware of Scott Foster’s feud with <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/topic/chris-paul" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Chris Paul.</a> Regardless of what he or the league has to say on the matter, it’s more than evident that he’s got a personal agenda against CP3, and he’s not even trying to hide it anymore.



Paul’s feud with Foster has been on for quite a while now. It reached a point when CP3 and his teams went 13 straight playoff games without a win when Foster was the lead official. That just cannot be a coincidence.



Notably, the feud has followed Paul all the way to the Bay area. Foster ejected him with two quick technical fouls the last time he officiated the <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/topic/golden-state-warriors" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Golden State Warriors,</a> with Paul having a tough choice of words for the referee.



That’s why <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/topic/nba" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">NBA</a> Commissioner Adam Silver recently addressed the issue, stating that he hopes both can do their job to the best of their capacities even if they don’t like each other.

<h2>Adam Silver Says The League Reached Out To Both</h2>



“You have there — two veterans who are the best at what they do,” Silver said on SiriusXM NBA Radio. “Scott is one of the most respected NBA officials, one of the highest-rated NBA officials, which is why he referees in our Finals games. Of course, Chris [Paul] ‘s track record speaks for itself.”



The Commissioner stated that the league has actually reached out to both parties in an attempt to clear the air, adding that the expectation is that they can both act like professionals:



“The way you handle that, at least the way we’ve tried to handle that, is talk to both of them and say, ‘The expectation is that you’re going to be professional.’ And deal privately with the two of them and say guys, ‘Whatever the bad blood is between you two, you don’t have to be friends, but you got to both go out and do your jobs.’ So that’s my expectation moving forward,” Silver said.



<h2>Paul Denies Silver’s Story</h2>



Nonetheless, Paul recently denied that story, stating that no one from the league has gotten in touch with him regarding the incident and adding that he had to reach out to the President of League Operations about the matter:

“Nah, ain’t nobody called me since all that happened. The league, usually sometimes they’ll call or interview you, but nobody texted, called or nothing since it happened,” Paul said. “I don’t know. I haven’t talked to Adam. [President of league operations] Bryon [Spruell]. Nobody. I talked to Bryon, but I had to call him. He didn’t call me. I don’t know, it’s weird.”



<h2>The League Needs To Stop This</h2>



We don’t know if Chris Paul started this or if it was Scott Foster. Paul says it’s personal — and it definitely looks that way — although no one could find any evidence of Foster talking about Paul’s son in the altercation that led to his ejection, which is what Paul said.

Then again, it just doesn’t matter at this point. This is hurting the league’s credibility, and you cannot have a player-referee feud being a talking point. It’s time to cut it out and just ban Foster from officiating games involving Chris Paul, for everybody’s sake.

The first team that came to mind when the <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/topic/golden-state-warriors" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Golden State Warriors </a>traded for <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/topic/chris-paul" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Chris Paul </a>was: He’s got to come off the bench, right? Needless to say, that was followed by questions about whether he’d be willing to accept that role for the first time in his 19-year <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/topic/nba" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">NBA</a> career.



That seemed to be the only way this experiment would work. Beef with <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/topic/draymond-green" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Draymond Green</a> aside, the Warriors already had<a href="https://bolavip.com/en/topic/stephen-curry" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener"> Stephen Curry</a> still in his prime handling point guard duties, and he wasn’t the reason why they fell in last year’s playoffs.



Steve Kerr’s team desperately needed someone who could pull the strings of the second unit, and it was hard to think of a better guy to do that than one of the greatest players of all time.



Nonetheless, Paul didn’t seem too open to the idea at first. But now that he’s got a full training camp and some games with his new team under his belt, he finally explained that he wasn’t bothered about coming off the bench as much as he was about the assumption that he was going to do it.

<h2>Paul Is Doing What’s Best For The Team</h2>



“It was over-exaggerated because I’ll tell you this: It wasn’t a question,” Paul told The Athletic. “She [the journalist who asked him about coming off the bench] made a statement. I know what the media is like. I know what I said in there. I know what bullet points gonna be taken from that.”



Then again, Paul admits that him leading the second unit makes the most sense for the team. He knows he’s playing with a talented group of players with several potential starters:



“It works,” Paul said. “It gives us a bigger lineup. I’ve never been on a team, probably with this type of depth. I’ve been on really good teams, don’t get it twisted. But not necessarily where you could say: ‘All these guys can start.’ And I think last year that was the best starting five in the league.”



<h2>He Won’t Change His Ways</h2>



As good a player as he is, Paul’s ways have often been questioned. He won’t hesitate to get on a teammate’s face if needed, and that often rubbed people the wrong way. However, he’s not going to change his ways just because he recently arrived and is playing with the second unit:

“I’m an over-communicator,” Paul said. “I say that all the time. Some people don’t like it. But that’s me. That way, you don’t have to guess how I feel about you. A lot of time, people are scared to have those conversations. But you got guys who’ve won, guys who want to win, and everyone understands what they mean to the team. When you done [sic] played this long, you want to enjoy the people you’re around, and you want to win.”

At the end of the day, Paul, Green, Curry, and Klay Thompson are all veteran players who know what it takes to find success in this league. All concerns about the fit and his attitude were valid, but it seems like they’ve figured things out already.
