<h2>Post: A new chapter for the Warriors</h2>



In his final college season, Quinten Post averaged 15.1 points, 5.6 rebounds and 1.5 assists per game, numbers that earned him recognition as the ACC’s Most Improved Player. In addition, he proved to be an effective shooter from the three-point line (43%) and from the free throw line (83%).

However, <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/topic/nba">NBA</a> reports note that Post still needs to work on his defense, a key aspect to fit into the Warriors’ game scheme. The young player will have the opportunity to learn and develop under the tutelage of seasoned veterans such as Curry and Draymond Green.

With multiple injuries that made him go under the knife more than once in the las few years, Thompson’s level has been on decline, with his production felling off a cliff last season.

<h2>Clippers have an alternative to Chris Paul</h2>



The <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/topic/los-angeles-lakers">Lakers</a> may have slight advantage in a potential competition to get Paul’s signature, as the Clippers are also understood to have Kyle Lowry on their shortlist. However, Stein claims the Sixers guard is likely to stay in Philadelphia:



“I’ve been hearing for weeks now that the Clippers — even though Russell Westbrook possesses a $4 million player option for next season — have interest in both Paul and Kyle Lowry to supply backcourt depth. Lowry, though, is a Philadelphia native who is widely expected to re-sign with the 76ers.”



Paul did quite well in his first season in Golden State, averaging 9.2 points, 6.8 assists and 3.9 rebounds primarily coming off the bench in 58 games. Even at 39, he would still be an interesting option in the open market.

“I think it’s kind of a right of passage for young players, whether it’s the WNBA or the NBA. The other players are going to test you. Actually, Caitlin reminds me a lot of Steph Curry,” Kerr said. “A lot of people may not remember this, but in Steph’s first couple of years, he was not a superstar. He was not who he is now. He had to get stronger, he had to understand people were coming after him. That’s what is happening with Caitlin right now.”

An assistant at the Milwaukee Bucks before taking the reins of the <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/topic/los-angeles-lakers">Lakers</a> in the summer of 2022, Ham left Los Angeles with a 90-74 record in his first head coaching experience.

That’s not what Marreese Speights thinks. The former <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/topic/nba">NBA</a> champion with the Dubs in 2015 believes the front office should run things back with the current core in order to get back to glory days.



“I 100 percent think they got one more run in them,” Speights said on NBC Sports Bay Area’s “Dubs Talk” podcast. “Those guys are dangerous, man. It’s going to take one or two more pieces they need to sign. And some of them young boys need to step up, get (Andrew) Wiggins locking in for the (entire) year. It’s not over for them.”



Speights spent three seasons in the Bay area, so he knows a thing or two about the organization. In his eyes, Curry’s presence is enough to be optimistic, <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/topic/golden-state-warriors">Golden State</a> just needs to make a move or two: “If Steph is there and a couple of those other guys are still there, they still got a chance. No matter what.”

“I was kind of surprised that they got that (No. 10) seed because everybody expects so much from them,” Speights said. “I know next year they got something under their hat. They’re going to come back and be who they are.”



It remains unclear what the Warriors’ strategy moving forward looks like. One thing seems for sure, that Curry, Draymond Green and <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/nba/nba-rumors-the-other-player-besides-stephen-curry-deemed-untouchable-by-warriors">Jonathan Kuming are integral pieces</a> for their plans.

<h2>Klay Thompson’s future in Golden State up in the air</h2>



Thompson has been a key contributor to the Warriors’ success in the last decade, playing a pivotal role in a dynasty next to <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/topic/stephen-curry">Stephen Curry</a> and Draymond Green that delivered four rings to the franchise.



However, multiple surgeries and decline in his play could lead to a breakup now that his deal is running out. Four years ago, the Warriors had the No. 2 pick in the 2020 <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/topic/nba" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">NBA</a> Draft, which they used to get James Wiseman. Fast forward to today, and Wiseman is a backup for the league-worst Detroit Pistons.



Some called them out for not taking LaMelo Ball instead. Now a report by Brian Windhorst of ESPN revealed that they could’ve traded with the <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/topic/minnesota%C2%A0timberwolves" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Minnesota Timberwolves </a>to get <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/topic/anthony-edwards" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Anthony Edwards</a>.



<h2>The Timberwolves Didn’t Want Him Anthony Edwards</h2>



Apparently, the Timberwolves were aggressively trying to trade down from the first-overall selection. Nonetheless, then-GM Bob Myers and the Warriors’ brass weren’t interested.

“To go back to draft night — the Wolves were very interested in trading out of this pick,” Windhorst said. “They were trying up until they were on the clock, from what I have been told, to get the Warriors interested in moving up.”



<h2>The Warriors Weren’t High On Edwards</h2>



According to Jonathan Wasserman of Bleacher Report, there were some concerns regarding Edwards’ drive and enthusiasm for winning, which is why Steve Kerr’s team didn’t want anything to do with him: 



“Teams are worried about Edwards’ drive and enthusiasm for winning, and according to a source, the Golden State Warriors aren’t a likely landing spot due to these concerns,” Wasserman wrote. 



Granted, the COVID-19 pandemic made the process for that year’s draft class a little different. But Edwards has proven to be a relentless competitor who’s absolutely obsessed with winning and being the best in the league.

There would be no better redemption arc for Durant than going back to the Oklahoma City Thunder. He’s one of the greatest players in franchise history, and the fans would definitely forgive him after all these years if he goes full circle.

Following an early ending to their season, the Golden State Warriors have big decisions to make this offseason. One of them has to do with <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/topic/klay-thompson">Klay Thompson</a>, whose contract is up this summer.



The veteran star’s level has declined in the last two seasons, which is why it’s uncertain what the team will do. According to Anthony Slater of The Athletic, Thompson’s future may depend on what happens with <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/topic/chris-paul">Chris Paul</a>.



“If the Warriors use Paul’s contract in a trade that brings back a large salary, it’d be a pre-free agency signal that Thompson could be on the move,” Slater said. “Warriors owner Joe Lacob has expressed an expectation that they’ll duck the second apron and even a desire to get under the luxury tax (though there’s no official edict). If Paul’s contract is shed entirely, that generates room for a Thompson contract that still keeps their books manageable.”



<h2>Thompson could stay at Warriors but on a bench role</h2>



With <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/topic/stephen-curry">Stephen Curry</a> and Draymond Green not getting any younger, the Dubs aim to use the little cap space they have wisely, and some of their moves will probably be directed at creating more space to maximize their championship window.

Thompson is no longer the key contributor he was back in the day, when he helped the Dubs win four <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/topic/nba">NBA</a> championships. The team still wants him to retire as a Warrior, but of course, his return may depend on if the player accepts a lower salary and a lesser role.

“In Warriors’ coach Steve Kerr’s exit interview, he mentioned the idea of Thompson coming off the bench next season, allowing his minutes and usage to be lessened,” Slater added. “That makes sense in the grand scheme for a 34-year-old wing who has rehabbed two devastating leg injuries and has plenty of backcourt depth behind him.”



With Paul making it clear he’s not retiring anytime soon, it will be up to the <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/topic/nba">Warriors</a> whether CP3 stays or not. He’s under contract for next season but since his $30m is not guaranteed, the Dubs can opt to let him go.



<h2>Steve Kerr wants both Thompson and Paul</h2>



Coach Steve Kerr made it clear he would like to count on Thompson next season, showing support for the 34-year-old after he went scoreless in Golden State’s loss to Sacramento in the Play-In Tournament.



“We need Klay [Thompson] back,” Kerr said after their season-ending loss. “He’s still got good years left. I know I speak for everybody in the organization: we want him back. Obviously, there is business at hand, but what Klay has meant to this franchise, as good as he still is, we desperately want him back.”

However, Kerr stated he wants Paul to stay in the Bay area as well. “Chris has been fantastic, not only on the court but the leadership. He is one of our best players. I love coaching Chris [Paul]. I really hope we bring him back next year,” he said.
