Steph talked about how much things have changed and how tough it’s been for them this season. Still, he has faith in this team’s ability to get over the hump and go back to its winning ways:



“We’ve been through a lot this year, the three of us,” Curry continued. “Especially with Draymond’s absence for a while, with Klay taking on a new role, the new cast of characters that we have that are right alongside in this journey. I think it’s extremely possible to accomplish both. We just have to protect the identity of who we are the best we can and I think we’re moving in that right direction.”

As of now, the Warriors sit one game over .500 and at the 10th spot in the Western Conference. Still, they’re the last team you want to come across in a potential seven-game series.

With that in mind, team owner Joe Lacob was pretty much forced to explain his team’s rather shocking approach to the NBA trade deadline, and he had some interesting things to say.



<h2>Warriors Were Happy With Their Team</h2>



“Well, first of all, backwards is never an option, not for me, not for us,” Lacob told The Athletic. “I know that people would say it should be. But I don’t think we’re ever going to be sellers in a situation like this in a big way. But you know, there were things we could’ve done that might’ve looked that way, that might’ve been setting us up for something better next year.”

More than that, the business mogul claimed that he felt like the team had found its stride before the trade deadline, which is why they didn’t see a big need to make moves:



“(But) I think the team has found something. I think our coaching staff has found something,” Lacob added. “I’m extremely high on what I’ve seen, we all should be, over the last, what, 11 games or so, 12 games. When Draymond came back, he’s changed everything. The lineup with Draymond at center and Andrew (Wiggins) and the ascension, of course, of JK, along with Steph and Klay (Thompson) or Steph and (Brandin Podziemski), both lineups, actually, looks great. We’re pretty fast and great ball movement and we’re scoring and we’re playing better defense, so it impacted the trade deadline.”

This is a valid approach, but it could also be a costly one. The Warriors could rally late and be at their best when it matters the most, but if that’s not the case, they will have wasted another year of Curry’s prime.

“I expect him to test the marketplace,” Charania said on the Pat McAfee show. “I would expect both Florida teams, both LA teams, potentially a couple East Coast teams [to show interest]. As of right now, unless there’s a miracle extension, he’s gonna test the marketplace and I think the Warriors have understood going into the year that his future is up in the air.”

Thompson recently agreed to come off the bench before a game vs. the Utah Jazz, and it paid off. He scored 35 points and admitted that he felt his legs were fresher, and it helped him be at his best.



He’s always been a team-first kind of guy, and he has sacrificed a lot for the sake of the organization. So, it wouldn’t be shocking to see him do that again to stay with Stephen Curry.

Still, NBA stars also have an ego, and Thompson is no exception to that rule. Another team might be willing to offer him not only more money but also a bigger role, and that could be hard to turn down.

The<a href="https://bolavip.com/en/topic/golden-state-warriors" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener"> Golden State Warriors</a> star has fallen from grace and struggled with his shot all year long.



He was benched down the stretch in back-to-back games for the first time in his career, and he might be falling behind in Steve Kerr’s pecking order for the remainder of the season.



Thompson came off the bench for the first time since 2012 in their win over the Utah Jazz. However, it worked out perfectly, as he went off for 35 points on 13-of-22 shooting, including seven three-pointers. 



<h2>Klay Thompson Talks About Coming Off The Bench</h2>



With that in mind, the four-time NBA champion admitted that coming off the bench was actually a positive for him, as he was able to play with fresh legs. Notably, he claimed to be inspired by Manu Ginobili, one of the greatest Sixth Men in NBA history:

“I thought about Manu Ginobili,” Thompson said. “That guy has four rings and a gold medal, and he came off the bench his whole career. And I don’t think anyone looks down on his Hall of Fame candidacy because he’s one of the greats. I embraced it before tip.”



Following the win, Coach Kerr admitted that he didn’t know whether this was going to be a permanent change or matchup-based, stating that they would be more balanced with rookie Brandon Podziemski starting in his place:



“It doesn’t mean it’s permanent, but as I said, I like that lineup with BP and the other four and Klay coming off the bench gives us a lot of firepower. We’ll give it a little look and we’ll see how it goes from there,” Kerr said.

Per the report, the Warriors spent 24 hours trying to convince James to leave Southern California and take his talents to the Bay area to team up with<a href="https://bolavip.com/en/topic/stephen-curry" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener"> Stephen Curry.</a>



The idea was pitched by fellow Klutch Sports client Draymond Green, who’s also quite close with the<a href="https://bolavip.com/en/topic/los-angeles-lakers"> Los Angeles Lakers </a>veteran. However, he decided to stay put in Hollywood. With that in mind, team owner Joe Lacob explained his reasoning behind this trade attempt.



<h2>Warriors Owner Says They Have An Aggressive Culture</h2>



“We have a culture that is very aggressive,” Lacob said on The TK Show. “We’re always going to try to be aggressive, we’re going to try to put the best team on the court. And if it costs a lot of money, it’s gonna cost a lot of money. We’re willing to invest in it. We do those things, hopefully at the right time, not the wrong time.”

Lacob still thinks the Warriors have more than enough talent in their ranks to pursue another NBA championship. Still, all great things can be better, and this roster isn’t the exception to that rule:



“That was an incredibly aggressive move that we made where I think half of our roster went away in order to accomplish it,” Lacob said. “We felt, even though, we had a really good team we could be better.”

At the end of the day, this may have been for the best. James and Steph have been rivals for too long, and watching them team up may have hurt their legacy at this point in their careers.

As much as he trusts this core of players, the team owner hinted at making some major changes in the offseason if this roster doesn’t get the job done or underperforms again at the end of the season.

“Plan 1B is: We can make big changes if we had to. If this team were to slide all the way down and not do well at the end of the year, you know there’s going to be big changes. If we do really well, we might decide to go the other way,” he said.



The executive added that the team will keep an open mind and will be flexible in their approach to the offseason. Still, they’ll move the pieces they need to move to get back to their championship-winning ways:



“So, everything’s open. We have to be flexible. The goal is to not be a lottery team, ever. The goal is to be competitive. The goal is to win. And ideally, if it’s possible, to win championships or compete for championships,“ he added.

The Warriors can still compete because Stephen Curry is one of the greatest players of all time, but no one can win on his own, and the rest of the team also must step up.

Green and Durant seemed to have buried the hatchet ever since. They’ve done an interview to clear the air on their feud and played together in the Olympics, and they’ve even been spotted hanging out together.



Nonetheless, friendship doesn’t mean a thing in the heat of the battle, especially in the NBA. “Everyone was questioning what I said to KD at the end of the game,” Green said on his podcast. “‘This is me. It’s me.’ I’m not going to share the other word that I said because, you know, that’s a spur-of-the-moment type of thing.”



Green admitted that he’s lost plenty of money for using that word so lightly. Then again, he was as unapologetic as always, and he’s just not going to change the way he handles hismelf on the court:



“You’re in a game and words come up,” Green continued. “But this is me. I do this. [I’ve] been doing this. Going to keep doing this. Which is the same thing that I said in that Clippers game years ago. [I’ve] been winning championships. [I’ve] been doing this. [I’m] going to keep doing this when you leave here. I didn’t lie, got fined a whole game check which is like $160,000 for saying that.”

Green’s antics have made his pockets lighter multiple times, and he’s even been suspended multiple times this season. Now, it seems like not even his friends are safe.

Steve Kerr’s arrival in the Bay area changed everything for the <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/topic/golden-state-warriors" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Golden State Warriors</a>. The team had already set a strong foundation with Mark Jackson, but they needed a change to get the monkey off their backs and become a legitimate contender.



Kerr took the reins of the team and immediately turned <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/topic/draymond-green" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Draymond Green</a> into the player he is nowadays. The front office made some key moves to surround the Splash Brothers with talent, and the rest is history.



However, all good things eventually come to an end, especially in the <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/topic/nba" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">NBA.</a> Kerr’s contract will expire at the end of the season, and there has been plenty of talk about his future.



<h2>Steve Kerr Says He Wants To Stay</h2>



With that in mind, the championship-winning coach admitted that he’s always been vocal about his desire to stay with the organization, and that hasn’t changed the slightest:

“I want to be back,” Kerr told Logan Murdock. “I’ve made that clear every time I’ve been asked about it. The only thing I won’t talk about is just any detail of contract stuff, but I’ve been very open. I want to come back. Joe [Lacob has] told me he wants me back, so I think I’ll be back.”



Kerr talked about some of the players he’s had an opportunity to coach since taking the reins of the team in 2015, and he knows he’s become a Bay area legend:



“I coach an unbelievable group of guys,” Kerr said. “I love my coaching staff. I love Mike Dunleavy. Mike has been amazing to work with. Joe’s an incredible owner. When you think about what he’s done with his franchise and to have been a part of it with Bob and with Steph and Dray and Klay, it’s amazing. So just because we’re not as good now doesn’t mean I’m going to just jump ship and say, ‘All right guys, see you later.’”

The Warriors haven’t been at their best this season, but everybody knows better than to count them out. So, don’t sleep on coach Kerr now or ever, as he’s not going anywhere.
