However, he still understood where he was coming from at the time.</p>

<p><em>“I was surprised by it. Draymond probably gets the worst rap,” </em>McCaw told NBA Buzz. <strong><em>“It’s because of the passion that he cares about the game for. It’s more than just the game he cares about, he cares if his teammates are as passionate as him.”</em></strong></p>



<p><em>“You don’t have to play with that energy, you don’t have to yell and scream like he does,</em><strong><em> but he wants to make sure you’re on the same page as him,”</em> </strong>continued McCaw. <em><strong>“Like, ‘Do you care about it as much as I do?’ Once he senses maybe that feeling that you don’t care as much or not playing up to your potential, he’s gonna almost instantly get on you about it.”</strong></em></p>



<p><strong><em>“And of course, the way he probably goes about it isn’t the best, but you probably get the point faster when somebody yells or screams or gets in your chest,” </em></strong>McCaw added. <em>“He gets a bad rap for how he does it, but you can’t really take that away from him. That’s who he is. The energy, the effort, it’s every night. The passion: that’s the misinterpretation for people. <strong>How he does it and how he expresses it. For him, it works.”</strong></em></p>

<p>For the first time in <strong>the Steve Kerr era,</strong> the <strong><a href="https://bolavip.com/en/topic/golden-state-warriors" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Golden State Warriors</a></strong> lost a playoff series to a Western Conference team. The<strong><a href="https://bolavip.com/en/topic/los-angeles-lakers" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener"> Los Angeles Lakers</a></strong> were too much for the <strong>reigning <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/topic/nba" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">NBA</a> champions.</strong></p>



<p><strong>Jordan Poole and Klay Thompson</strong> were missing in action for most of the series. They still lost two games by a couple of possessions or less and ultimately failed to get the job done.</p>



<p>Notably, that wasn’t exactly surprising for their coach. Apparently,<strong> Kerr didn’t see his team as legit championship contenders</strong>, given how much they struggled this season.</p>



<h2>Steve Kerr Says Warriors Weren’t A Championship Team</h2>



<p><strong><em>“To be fair, I think this team ultimately maxed out,” </em></strong>Coach Kerr said. <strong><em>“We were barely in the playoff picture most of this year. (…) This is not a championship team.”</em></strong></p>



<p><em>“We did a pretty damn good job of finding something here over the last month,”</em> continued Kerr. <em>“We came close to recapturing what we had, but we didn’t quite get there. <strong>We didn’t feel like a championship team all year, but we had the guts and the fortitude to believe.”</strong></em></p>



<h2>Curry Admits Warriors Weren’t Good Enough</h2>



<p>Notably, <strong>Stephen Curry</strong> might have felt the same way. As much as he hated to admit it, he acknowledged that they weren’t good enough to get the job done this season.</p>



<p><em><strong>“I mean, we lost, so that’s a hard truth at the end of the journey,”</strong></em> Curry said. <em>“No competitor believes that until you’re proven that <strong>you’re not a championship team, </strong>and that’s what getting beat in a playoff series means.”&nbsp;</em></p>

We’re just not a team that goes out there and looking for flopping opportunities”, he responded. <p>“I HATE IT! Started from the bottom, now we here, we made it!”, James wrote in a video full of images from the series. However, that was not the whole message. It was the specific part of the song “Tuscan Leather” by Drake that he added what completed the shot at Green. <strong>“Bench players talkin’ like starters, I hate it”</strong>, something that seems to be a clear reference to the minor role Green has in <strong>Golden State</strong>. LeBron finished at the top again, although he is already thinking about the <strong><a href="https://bolavip.com/en/nba/Nikola-Jokic-puts-NBA-on-blast-after-elbowing-Suns-owner-Mat-Ishbia-20230508-0007.html">Nikola Jokic</a></strong>-led Nuggets.</p>

<p><strong>LeBron James</strong> and <strong>Anthony Davis</strong> were spectacular to close out the series at home and now they’ll face <strong>Nikola Jokic</strong> and the <strong>Denver Nuggets</strong> in a blockbuster matchup to clinch a ticket to the NBA finals.</p>

<p>However, <strong>Steve Kerr</strong> pointed out his players let the series slip away in two special moments. Furthermore, the coach admitted <strong>LeBron James</strong> and <strong>Anthony Davis</strong> absolutely dominated the Warriors even with <strong>Stephen Curry</strong>. </p>



<p>“LeBron and AD are just brilliant players. They controlled the series. I thought we had our chances. To me <strong><em>the series came down to Games 1 and 4</em></strong> and the Lakers outplayed us in key stretches of those games. Down the stretch. That’s really the difference. The better team won. Good luck to them moving forward.”</p>



<p>At the same time, in a very surprising and strong message, <strong>Steve Kerr</strong> was the first to admit this version of the Golden State Warriors didn’t have championship material.</p>



<p>“To be fair, I think this team ultimately maxed out. We were barely in the playoff picture most of this year. This is not a championship team. We did a pretty good job of finding something here over the last month. We came close to recapturing what we had, but we didn’t quite get there. We didn’t feel like a championship team all year, but we had the guts and the fortitude to believe.”</p>

They broke the <strong><a href="https://bolavip.com/en/topic/chicago-bulls" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Chicago Bulls’ </a></strong>record for the <strong>most wins in a regular season in <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/topic/nba" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">NBA</a> history,</strong> topping what <strong>Michael Jordan’s legendary squad </strong>had done 30 years prior.</p>



<p>However, unlike the Bulls, the Dubs weren’t able to get the job done in the playoffs. They were up 3-1 in the NBA Finals, and then allowed the <strong>Cleveland Cavaliers</strong> to storm right back and beat them.</p>



<p>Notably, people have mocked them ever since. And according to team owner J<strong>oe Lacob</strong>,<strong> even <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/topic/michael-jordan" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Michael Jordan</a> himself</strong> made sure to remind him that ’73-9 don’t mean a thing without a ring.’</p>



<h2>Michael Jordan Trash Talks The Golden State Warriors</h2>



<p><em>“On the collective bargaining agreement, I was on the labor committee, and I was in New York having a bunch of dinners with Michael Jordan and other owners,” </em>Lacob told CBS Sports<em>. “There were six of us. Actually, Dan was one of them, Dan Gilbert. <strong>Anyway, Michael Jordan—people are drinking and having a good time and all that, but there was a moment where he said, you know, ’73 don’t mean s**t.’ He did it, Michael Jordan did that. And I looked at him, and I just decided not to make a big deal of it. I said, you know, you’re right, we didn’t win it, we had to get better.”</strong></em></p>



<p>Still, Lacob <strong>didn’t take it personally.</strong> He claims he still embraces that 73-win season, and he doesn’t see it as a failure, as opposed to how some of the players may feel:</p>



<p><em>“</em><strong><em>I have to be honest: It’s painful more to the player,”</em></strong> Lacob said. <em>“I don’t really think of it that way. I think that was one of the greatest years you could ever have in any sport. So many things went right. If you remember, all of the games that went our way. I mean, just amazing. It was an unbelievable year. <strong>When I wear golf, I wear a hat that says 73 on it. It’s sort of my little remembrance of it. </strong>Because I know people all say, ‘Oh, well, you didn’t win the championship’—all the talking heads. You know what, we didn’t. <strong>But it was still an incredible year, and I will never forget it. And we should be very proud of it. And I think as time goes by, there will be more thinking about it. Because I don’t think it’s gonna be replicated very easily.”</strong></em></p>
