At 34, Alexis Sanchez is considering to try something new in his career. After years of playing in Europe, the Chilean superstar admitted he would like to take his talents to North America. In an interview with TUDN, the former Barcelona winger told fellow countryman and La Roja legend Ivan Zamorano he would like to spend his sunset years in <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/topic/mexico">Mexico</a> or the United States.



“I would like to play in Mexico,” Sanchez said. “The other day I was talking to a friend, I don’t know, it catches my attention, because there are teams there that are passionate, they focus on their club and all those things, I would like to, but I don’t know when. There are several clubs that I know, Pachuca, America. I like America, for the fans, for how they are, for the capital and for what Diego Valdés also told me.”



The Tocopilla-born player has been in the Old Continent since 2008, when he left Argentine giants River Plate for Italian side Udinese. Though he went on to play for five years in England, Sanchez said he would like to improve his English. The USA could be a good place for that, with Miami as one of his preferred landing spots.

<a href="https://bolavip.com/en/topic/lionel-messi">Lionel Messi</a> may have won the 2023 Ballon d’Or, but he didn’t have the same success in the <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/topic/mls">MLS</a> Newcomer of the Year award. With 27.8% of the vote, the <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/topic/inter-miami">Inter Miami</a> star finished second behind Atlanta United striker Giorgos Giakoumakis.



The prize recognizes the most impactful new player in the league with prior professional experience. The Argentine captain was eligible as he signed for David Beckham’s team in July. The Greek international, on the other hand, joined Major League Soccer in February.



Giakoumakis settled in perfectly in the US, recording an impressive 17 goals and three assists in 27 league games. The striker made the switch from Celtic to fill in the gap left by Josef Martinez, who had left Atlanta for Miami.



The league revealed that Messi was the most voted player among his colleagues, with 35.54% of the vote. Giakoumakis, however, emerged victorious through the clubs and media vote.

<h2>Why the result makes sense</h2>



While Messi’s arrival has unquestionably been a game-changer both for Inter Miami and MLS, the result of the vote makes sense. After all, Messi made just six MLS appearances, putting up one goal and two assists.

Leo did make an impact for his club in Leagues Cup play. With 10 goals in just seven matches, Messi led the franchise to its first ever title against all odds. He also made an appearance in the US Open Cup in the semifinal win over Cincinnati.



But the award considers the MLS regular season, which is why Giakoumakis is the deserved winner. Not only did he produce better numbers, but the Atlanta United sensation has been in the league for longer than Leo. It may have been just months of difference, but they are enough to give the striker the upper hand.

In all, it’s safe to say the 36-year-old joined the league too late to have a shot at this prize. Besides, a muscle injury forced him to miss a number of games. His candidacy existed mostly because of the impact he had off the field.

With the 2022 World Cup still fresh in the memory, Messi’s presence gave MLS unprecedented popularity. At 36, the Argentine star shocked the world by leaving Europe. But for US soccer meant a historic opportunity.

Unlike other stars who were practically retired by the time they joined the league, Messi was still at a great level when he took his talents to MLS. Of course, he’s not getting any younger, but Leo still has a lot left in the tank.



Messi proved that mostly in the Leagues Cup, as muscle fatigue caught up to him by the time the MLS season resumed its course. But the league still benefited from his arrival.

Suarez is continuing his good form with Gremio and that has led to him being reserved by Marcelo Bielsa to play with Uruguay in the next round of Conmebol World Cup qualifying. 



According to TyC Sports reporter Gastón Edul, Inter Miami and the former <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/topic/nacional" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Nacional </a>of Uruguay striker have been negotiating for some time now and that a decision has been made by the Liverpool legend. 



On Wednesday Suarez was provider as Gremio defeated Coritiba 2-1 to move into third in Brazil’s Serie A. It was announced last month that Suarez, who has one year left on his Gremio deal, will be allowed to leave to join Inter Miami on a free transfer.



<h2>Luis Suarez’s current form </h2>



Inter Miami could not be asking for a better striker, Suarez is 36 years old, yes, slower, yes, but he is still lethal. The Uruguayan has 10 goals and 10 assists this season in 26 games for Gremio.

Suarez is currently the Brazilian league’s assist leader and will make his return to the Uruguayan national team in November. If signed, Inter Miami will have the top two Conmebol all-time World Cup qualifying goal scorers on their roster.

Pírez’s transfer situation at River Plate has fluctuated in his two year stay, the Argentine club has paid a loan fee but in October was in talks to keep the player after two years, now things seem to be changing.

The Venezuelan star joined the club from Atlanta United in January. But after only one season, the Herons decided not to exercise his contract option. Victor Ulloa and Jake Lacava are also leaving Miami this offseason.



Far from showing any hard feelings towards the franchise, Martinez looked grateful for his time in South Beach. The 30-year-old took to Instagram to officially say goodbye to the club.



“It has been a beautiful period. I will always cherish the love I was given. Thank you all for this special year. And mainly to thousands of Venezuelans for so much love and for making me feel at home,” wrote Martinez.

Martinez benefited from <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/topic/lionel-messi">Lionel Messi</a>‘s arrival in July, as he helped Leo lead Inter Miami to the Leagues Cup title with three goals and two assists in seven games. Still, the club had bigger expectations for the Venezuela international.

Luis Suarez has been continuously linked with a move to South Florida since Messi moved to the US, and it looks like it could finally happen in 2024. The Uruguayan striker couldn’t join Leo before because Gremio wouldn’t let him go, but the Brazilian club confirmed Lucho will leave the club at the end of the year.



The former Barcelona star has been playing through pain in his left knee, but he cannot go on like this for another year in Brazil. Suarez has yet to make a decision about his future, as he’s not even sure if he’ll continue playing. But chances are that we see him in an Inter Miami uniform in 2024.
