<p>The <strong>Braves</strong>‘ move from <strong>Milwaukee to Atlanta</strong> was a painful example of a team abandoning a successful market for purely financial reasons. After moving from Boston, the Braves were a smash hit in Milwaukee, winning a World Series and drawing 1.8 million fans in their first season. </p>



<p>However, by the mid-1960s, the ownership sought a larger TV market. Despite intense legal battles waged by Milwaukee officials, the National League ultimately approved the move to Atlanta, making the Braves the first major league professional sports team in the Deep South.</p>



<h2>The Twins’ origin story: Washington D.C.’s first loss</h2>

<p>It wasn’t just the four home runs that put Kurtz in the history books. It was everything he did during the<strong> 66th game of his career, </strong>contributing nearly half of the A’s total runs against Houston.</p>



<p><em>“Never in baseball’s 150-year history has a player finished<strong> a game with at least six hits, six runs and eight RBIs</strong> until Nick Kurtz tonight,” </em>reported ESPN’s Jeff Passan on X.<em> “His 19 total bases tie Shawn Green’s single-game record—and Kurtz had one more RBI. There’s a genuine argument it is the best game ever.”</em></p>

<p><em>“It still really hasn’t set in that it actually just happened. A game like that is stuff that you don’t even dream about, because it doesn’t really happen,” Kurtz said. “It’s just an unbelievable feeling. Glad we got the win, obviously. That performance was awesome.”</em></p>

<p>It’s a rare sight in Major League Baseball when a player hits four home runs in a single game, but 2025 has already seen it happen twice—<strong>first with Eugenio Suárez and now with Kurtz.</strong> The last time two players recorded four-homer games in the same season was back in 2017, when J.D. <p>The <strong><a href="https://bolavip.com/en/topic/boston-red-sox">Boston Red Sox</a></strong> have bolstered their pitching depth by signing left-hander <strong>Sean Newcomb </strong>to a minor league contract. Newcomb, a former first-round draft pick, joins the organization following a challenging stint with the <strong>Oakland Athletics</strong>. This signing comes on the heels of the Red Sox acquiring another former A’s pitcher, <strong>Austin Adams</strong>, as they continue to fine-tune their <strong>MLB</strong> roster.</p>



<p>Drafted 15th overall by the <strong>Los Angeles Angels </strong>in 2014, <strong>Newcomb was part of the blockbuster trade </strong>that sent Andrelton Simmons to the Angels and landed him with the <strong><a href="https://bolavip.com/en/topic/atlanta-braves">Atlanta Braves</a></strong>. He made his MLB debut with Atlanta in 2017 and was a member of the Braves’ World Series championship team in 2021.</p>

<p>One era ends so another can begin, the <strong><a href="https://bolavip.com/en/topic/oakland-athletics" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Oakland Athletics</a></strong>, winners of 9 World Series and a landmark of the Oakland sports scene since 1968 are leaving town. The<a href="https://bolavip.com/en/topic/mlb" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener"> baseball</a> club will eventually call Las Vegas their fifth home, the A’s began their history in Philadelphia, then Kansas City, before moving to Oakland.</p>



<p>Sacramento was chosen as a “connecting flight” to Las Vegas given the hostile nature between Oakland fans and owner John Fisher. The lease to the Oakland Coliseum ends this season and the general feeling is that politicians, fans, and owners want this to be done with already, as negotiations of an extension agreement with the City of Oakland were stated as “far apart” earlier this week. Since the announcement that the club was looking to move, stadium attendance has plummeted, this season the A’s drew only 13,522 fans on opening night and did not reach 7,000 fans in any of the next six games.</p>



<p><strong>John Fisher</strong> stated that while the decision to leave Oakland was hard, the club did its best to stay until Las Vegas was ready but instead thought best to move, <em>“Even with the long-standing relationship and good intentions on all sides in the negotiations with Oakland, the conditions to achieve an agreement seemed out of reach. We understand the disappointment this news brings to our fans, as this season marks our final one in Oakland. Throughout this season, we will honor and celebrate our time in Oakland, and will share additional details soon.”</em></p>



<h2>Sacramento new home of the Oakland A’s</h2>



<p>The only thing Fisher has done over the past few years was destroy the club’s long-standing relationship with fans, who have boycotted showing up to games and protesting the owner for moving the team and letting it fall flat in the process.</p>

<p>On the field, Fisher has frankly given up putting a competitive team on display, the A’s last made the playoffs in 2020, since then they have produced two seasons where the club lost over 100 games.</p>



<p>While the end result of this brutal blow for Oakland fans will be seeing their team move to Las Vegas, that future venue will not be ready in the next few years resulting in operations being moved to Sacramento.</p>

A fourth victim later walked into a local hospital. All four victims sustained non-life-threatening injuries.</strong></em></p>
