<p>The Chiefs know surrounding Mahomes with more talent is crucial to do that, which is why they landed free agent wide receiver <strong>Marquise “Hollywood” Brown</strong>. The deal was <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/nfl/kansas-city-chiefs-sign-big-offensive-weapon-to-help-patrick-mahomes">reported last week</a>, but <strong>the team made it official on Monday</strong>.</p>



<p><em><strong>“Hey Chiefs Kingdom, Hollywood Brown here, excited to be here, excited to get to work, let’s go for this three-peat!,”</strong></em> the 26-year-old said in a video shared by the Chiefs on social media.</p>



<p>According to Dianna Russini of <em>The Athletic</em>, the terms of Brown’s agreement with the Chiefs is a <strong>one-year, $7 million deal worth up to $11</strong> million. Speaking to reporters for the first time as a Chief, the wideout said he <strong>turned down money to play at Arrowhead.</strong></p>

<p>The Florida native was selected 25th overall by the <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/topic/baltimore-ravens">Baltimore Ravens</a> in 2019, spending three seasons with the team before being traded to the Arizona Cardinals in 2022.</p>

Hardman, who had <strong>only 28 snaps for just one reception in five games</strong> with the Jets, blames<strong> Nathaniel Hackett </strong>for his failed stint in New York<strong>.</strong></p>

<h2>Hardman ends up being Mahomes’ partner for Super Bowl LVIII win</h2>



<p>Hardman’s return to Arrowhead paid off, as he ended up <strong>catching the game-winning touchdown in the 2024 Super Bowl</strong>. The wideout hadn’t much made of an impression until then, but he certainly helped Mahomes <strong>in the biggest moment of the year.</strong></p>



<p>“<em><strong>Y’all can’t tell me about winning,”</strong></em> Hardman said. <em>“I’ve been to four Super Bowls in five years now. Before, I had been to four SEC championships and three Super Bowls. I’ve won two of them. I know what winning looks like. I know what winning is. So y’all keep telling me certain things and I’m not going for that, because y’all are not doing it right.</em>“</p>



<p>Hardman believes the reason the Chiefs succeed is because there’s a team-first mentality, something he feels the Jets lack. Rodgers’ injury didn’t help, but the Georgia product claims the atmosphere <strong>was not good</strong> in New York anyway.</p>

<p>Jets general manager <strong>Joe Douglas reacted</strong> to Hardman’s comments on Tuesday, avoiding to fire back with another jab at the player.  </p>



<p>“<em>Yeah, look, not to get into any specifics on what Mecole said,</em>” Douglas said, via <em>Pro Football Talk. “I’ll just say, look, <strong>we were excited to sign Mecole</strong>. He was excited to obviously join our team. <strong>It was a situation that really Xavier Gipson came on for us this year, and he did an outstanding job for us</strong>. Ultimately, we made the decision to move on from Mecole. <strong>Our process of that, and Mecole, he was excited to be here, and it just didn’t work out and a lot of that has to do with Xavier</strong>.”</em></p>

<p>According to Jeremy Fowler of <em>ESPN</em>, the Chiefs are releasing wide receiver <strong>Marquez Valdes-Scantling</strong> on Wednesday. The move comes as no surprise to the football community, with the team <strong>saving $12 million in cap space</strong> by doing this.</p>



<p>The 29-year-old was heading into the final year of a three-year deal with Kansas City, where he only showed glimpses of his talent despite <strong>celebrating two Super Bowl victories.</strong></p>



<p>Valdes-Scantling wasn’t very productive in 2023, with only 21 receptions for 315 yards and a touchdown, though he did <strong>come up with a big moment in the big game</strong>, posting the Chiefs’ only touchdown in regular time.</p>

<p>Overall, the former <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/topic/green-bay-packers">Green Bay Packers</a> wideout racked up 63 receptions, 1,002 yards and three touchdowns in two years with the Chiefs. <h2>Chiefs save cap space to keep strong team around Mahomes</h2>



<p>The Chiefs’ priorities this offseason are to keep <strong>impending free agents Chris Jones and L’Jarius Sneed.</strong> Though we’re talking about different positions, it makes more sense for them to try and save the $12m on Valdes-Scantling to keep these players.</p>



<p>Jones at defensive tackle and Sneed at cornerback have played an instrumental role on a Chiefs’ defense that <strong>ranked second in yards and points allowed per game in 2023.</strong></p>

<p>Therefore, even if they’re not in Mahomes’ unit, they’re still more important for the quarterback to succeed than Valdes-Scantling. Last year, Mahomes’ most reliable weapons were Travis Kelce, rookie WR Rashee Rice and running back Isiah Pacheco.</p>



<p>It will be interesting to see if the Chiefs can surround him with more weapons this year. But first, Kansas City has to make sure to <strong>build on what it already has</strong>. Letting Valdes-Scantling go may be the price to pay to keep other stars, and the Chiefs didn’t hesitate to do just that.</p>

<h2>Chiefs will franchise tag L’Jarius Sneed</h2>



<p>The Kansas City Chiefs officially placed the non-exclusive franchise tag on cornerback <strong>L’Jarius Sneed</strong>. The big story is that, if there’s no long-term deal with the cornerback, a trade is also a possibility and <strong>Andy Reid</strong> is open to that scenario.</p>

<p>This means that the star would be able to talk to any team in the <strong>NFL</strong>, but, the Kansas City Chiefs will keep the right to <strong>match any offer</strong>.
