Belichick, who saw Brady’s potential before anyone else in the 2000 NFL Draft, explained how the quarterback’s dedication and hard work made him so valuable for the Patriots. And he feels Mahomes has just the same importance on the Chiefs.

“The big thing every year was ‘Who are the receivers? Who are the tight ends? How do I make them better‘. How do you learn to use those players. That’s one of the things that Mahomes does really well. He knows what his players can do, how to get the most out of them.”

Tom Brady and Bill Belichick formed one of, if not the greatest quarterback-coach duo in <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/nfl">NFL</a> history. Together, they led the New England Patriots to an unprecedented six Super Bowl wins.



But it wasn’t all sunshine and roses in Foxborough. While Brady has shown nothing but praise for Belichick even after leaving the <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/topic/new-england-patriots">Patriots</a>, Tom has recently admitted there was something about Bill’s coaching style he didn’t like too much.



“We all felt fortunate to play for him, and there were many benefits to his approach, but his motivational style — often based on fear — was sometimes difficult,” Brady said, via Harvard Business Review‘s Nitin Nohrin. “So as a team leader, I tried to complement that approach by being a bit more upbeat.”



This doesn’t take away from the fact Brady refers to <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/topic/bill-belichick">Belichick</a> as “the greatest coach in the history of the NFL,” but it does seem to shed more light into his decision to leave New England in 2020. As the interview progressed, Brady ultimately moved James from that position and named Joel Embiid, known for his size and agility on the basketball court, as the Tight End.

When the Jets traded for Rodgers in the summer of 2023, the expectations in the Big Apple were through the roof. However, it didn’t take long for their hopes to be crushed.



Only four snaps into his Jets debut, the veteran quarterback suffered a season-ending injury. The team couldn’t succeed without him, which is why all eyes are now on his long-awaited return this season.



With Rodgers healthy, the Jets believe they can go far in the AFC. It won’t be easy, since making it out in their own division already looks like a challenging task with the Bills and Dolphins also in a strong position to contend. But Rodgers is trying to make his team have that competitive mentality.

Brock Purdy came close to completing a Cinderella story in 2024, but Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs stood on the <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/topic/san-francisco-49ers">San Francisco 49ers</a>‘ way. The third-year quarterback, however, is determined to coming back stronger this year. And he’s inspiring on none other than Tom Brady to do so.



“With as good of a team that we have, I want to get to that point where we get to the third quarter, there’s a couple of drives that are crucial, I’m on top of my stuff, we convert on third downs, and we score touchdowns and the lead just gets out of hand,” Purdy told Mike Silver of the San Francisco Chronicle. “It’s having that Tom Brady kind of feeling. Late in the game, it always felt like Tom was just gonna take over and not make it close. I feel like I can get to that.”



<a href="https://bolavip.com/en/topic/tom-brady">Brady</a> is the greatest example of an underdog story not only in NFL but probably in sports history, having become the most successful quarterback of all time against all odds. Selected with the 199th pick in the sixth round of the 2000 NFL Draft, the expectations around him were not big when he joined the New England Patriots.



<h2>Purdy wants to defy the odds like Brady did to dominate over Mahomes</h2>



But eventually, Brady proved his doubters completely wrong. <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/topic/brock-purdy">Purdy</a> can relate to the feeling of being underestimated as a rookie, as he was “Mr. Irrelevant” of the 2022 NFL Draft by joining the Niners with the final pick of the draft.

It didn’t take long for Purdy to prove he’s actually relevant, leading the 49ers all the way to the NFC Championship Game in his rookie year as Trey Lance and Jimmy Garoppolo suffered season-ending injuries.

With the starting job under his belt for his second year, Purdy went a step further by guiding San Francisco to the Super Bowl. Even though his performance was decent, <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/topic/patrick-mahomes">Mahomes</a> gained the upper hand with an amazing drive at the end.



Now, Purdy wants to build on his growth to reach new heights in the NFL. Just like Brady managed to dominate the league back in the day, the 49ers QB aims to become an even better version of himself to rule in the NFL. 



“I want to be dominant,” Purdy said. “Not just win games and feel like, ‘Eh.’ I want to be dominant with consistent decisions and [feel] like we’re the top dogs every day. … There were moments last year in games where I would just — I don’t know what it was in the situation — but we’d be up and it’s, ‘All right, be smart with the ball,’ or ‘Let’s just make sure we don’t mess up.’ I want to break through that and get to this point of just being dominant, for four quarters, man. That’s my mindset.”

<a href="https://bolavip.com/en/topic/tom-brady">Tom Brady</a> has made up his mind long ago. After coming back from a one-month retirement in 2022, the most successful quarterback in NFL history hang up his cleats for good in 2023.



And while a return to the gridiron looks extremely unlikely at this point, not everyone gives up. Star wide receiver Davante Adams, for instance, admitted he would love to see Brady on the <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/topic/las-vegas-raiders">Las Vegas Raiders</a> uniform.



“Hell yes,” Adams told Shannon Sharpe when asked if he would want Brady to play for the Raiders. “Tom know how I feel about him, man. I mean, he’s getting older. But he gotta still be able to throw it better than half these dudes in the league.”



At 46, Brady is preparing for his first season as an <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/nfl">NFL</a> analyst for FOX, so the chances of seeing him on the field again are slim. However, the seven-time Super Bowl champ has already warned he would be open to unretiring.

<h2>Tom Brady “not opposed” to come out of retirement for Raiders</h2>



Brady made big headlines in April, when in an appearance on the “Deep Cut” podcast admitted he would consider coming out of retirement for two teams. One of them are the Patriots. But he also mentioned the Raiders, so Adams may have reasons for optimism.

“I’m not opposed to it,” Brady said when asked about potentially returning to play if a team calls midseason. “I don’t know if they are going to let me if I become an owner of an NFL team. I’m always going to be in good shape. I’ll always be able to throw the ball. So, to come in for a little bit, like (Jordan) coming back, I don’t know if they would let me. But I wouldn’t be opposed to it.”



In May 2023, Brady reached an agreement to join the Raiders’ ownership group, so he’s staying pretty busy away from the football field. As exciting as a comeback sounds, it seems unlikely.

ESPN revealed Thursday a ranking with the top 100 professional athletes since 2000, with Lionel Messi making the podium as the Argentine ace was ranked higher than other legends such as <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/topic/lebron-james">LeBron James</a>, Tom Brady, and Cristiano Ronaldo.



The Inter Miami star, who “completed” soccer by lifting the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, is only behind two athletes in <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/topic/espn">ESPN</a>‘s ranking: iconic swimmer Michael Phelps and tennis superstar Serena Williams.



Of course, the ranking has given plenty to talk about on social media, as not many agreed with the order of these athletes. However, <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/topic/lionel-messi">Messi</a> fans were happy with the fact ESPN placed the soccer star above many other legends.



LeBron and <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/topic/tom-brady">Brady</a> are just behind Messi, and while <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/topic/cristiano-ronaldo">Cristiano Ronaldo</a> was not even included among the top 10, the Portuguese star was ranked one place higher than Stephen Curry.

Many of these athletes are still active, so we’ll have to wait and see whether this ranking should require even more updates when it’s all said and done for some legends. Either way, most of the names who appear on the list have made a strong case to be there. But of course, these kinds of lists are always polarizing.
