Tha AFC has two of the best quarterbacks in the entire NFL. Patrick Mahomes and Joe Burrow are seen as the future of the league, but according to a former 1st-overall pick there's a huge difference between both that makes the Cincinnati Bengals player a better quarterback than the Super Bowl LVII champion.

In 2017, nine teams decided not to select Patrick Mahomes. Then, with the 10th-overall pick, the Chiefs added the former Texas Tech quarterback in a move that would completely change their history.

Three years later, Cincinnati called Joe Burrow with the 1st-overall pick. He has proven why the Bengals made the right choice by selecting him, guiding the team to the Super Bowl LVI and dominating the AFC North since he arrived.

Carson Palmer thinks Joe Burrow is the best quarterback in the NFL

Back in 2003, the Cincinnati Bengals held the 1st-overall pick. They selected Carson Palmer with it, hoping he would be the key piece to fight in the AFC North and finally succeed.

Unfortunately, Palmer's best years were not with Cincinnati. In 2015, when he was already playing for the Arizona Cardinals, the quarterback reached the NFC Championship Game, the biggest accomplishment of his career with a team.

The three-time Pro Bowler retired in 2017, but he's still interested in the NFL. Now, he has shared why he thinks Joe Burrow is a better quarterback than Patrick Mahomes and, of course, the best in the league.

"I think Joe (Burrow) is the best quarterback in the league," Carson Palmer said last week on The QB Room podcast. "I know Patrick (Mahomes) is phenomenal, but I just think Joe's more consistent. He's more consistent. He's more accountable to run the system and the play that's called and not feel like, 'Well, he didn't win last time and get open for me, so I'm gonna do it with my feet,' and then before you know it, you're sacked for a four-yard loss because you tried to make two or three guys miss.

"Joe is just -- talk about not having a weakness -- mentally strong, physically tough, accurate, can throw it far enough, fast enough, gets the ball out quick, and then he can actually do a lot with his legs. He just rarely shows it. I think he's as athletic outside the pocket and can do a lot of the same things Patrick Mahomes has done. He hasn't done it and showed it yet. He's played more within his system and style. But I think he's the best quarterback in the league."
