For the first time since transferring from UCLA to the University of Miami in 2019, Phillips will call somewhere other than Vice City home.

Playing through the final year of his $14 million rookie contract with the Dolphins, the California-native will now finish out his deal with the Eagles. If he remains unsigned beyond the 2025 NFL season, he will become an unrestricted free agent (UFA). Based on his early impressions of Philadelphia, he may not want to play for any other organization.



“I thought I was excited day one. I mean, talk to me now. This is literally the greatest thing that’s happened to me my whole life,” Phillips told reporters on his arrival in Philadelphia.

Most players say the day they are drafted into the league is the best day in their lives. However, Phillips didn’t stutter when placing the trade to the Eagles over the day the Dolphins selected him with the 18th overall selection in the 2021 NFL Draft.

It’s been great so far. I love the weather, the locker room, everything is awesome.”



Phillips didn’t exactly name the Dolphins, but he didn’t need to do so for the message to be sent. Regardless, it was heard loud and clear in the Sunshine State. Underneath the praise to Philadelphia, it’s impossible to overlook the subtle exclamation points aiming at his time in Miami. 



<h2>Fresh start, familiar face</h2>



Phillips found himself in an organization that has seemingly lost its North, whose compass has been shattered to fragments, and is left on its own to wander toward an inevitable doomsday in the 2025 NFL season.

Still, Koo is arguably more reliable than 80% of the kickers in the NFL. The fact that no one gave him a chance prior is really strange, but Koo can prove doubters wrong with a good performance.

Gano has been good, scoring nine out of 10 field goals. However, his injuries have cost him games and of course, affected the Giants. Koo could easily become the starting kicker if he stays healthy and proves himself as a reliable weapon.

A few months ago, Matt LaFleur was one of the most vocal critics advocating for the NFL to ban the Tush Push, the Philadelphia Eagles’ marquee play on their way to winning the <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/topic/super-bowl">Super Bowl</a>. However, the proposal didn’t get the required votes at the owners meetings.



Now, with a blockbuster game looming on Monday Night Football between the <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/topic/green-bay-packers">Green Bay Packers</a> and the Eagles, LaFleur didn’t want to talk much about the topic.



The head coach appeared visibly annoyed when asked if he had changed his opinion on the controversial issue. “I’m not going to get into it. It is what it is. You know, the NFL made a decision and we have to find a way to try to stop the play. And it’s a tough play to stop.”



<h2>Is the Tush Push banned?</h2>



No. The Tush Push is not banned in the NFL. At that owners meeting in May, 22 of 32 owners voted against the play, but 24 votes were required for the proposal to remove it to pass.


 

 


<h2>What is the Tush Push?</h2>



The Tush Push is a short-yardage quarterback sneak used primarily by the Philadelphia Eagles, where the quarterback, often under center, takes the snap and is immediately pushed forward by one or two teammates from behind to gain crucial inches or a first down.


 


It’s especially effective near the goal line or in third-and-short situations because it combines momentum, coordination, and the element of surprise, making it difficult for defenses to stop despite being a very simple and low-risk play.



However, during the 2025 season, the Tush Push has been more controversial than in the past because television cameras have detected that on multiple occasions the Eagles’ offensive linemen jump early, yet no offsides penalties are called.



Despite the Packers perhaps being the team most critical of the play, LaFleur didn’t want to fuel the debate. “I think the best way to stop it is to not allow it to happen. You can’t allow them in those short yardage situations because you know exactly what they’re going to do and they’ve been pretty successful at it obviously.”

“A reach? This is robbery,” Prisco said. “Not only are you getting two first-round picks back, you’re giving up an enormous salary. So the Colts are giving away two first-round picks for corner who has a big salary and hasn’t quite played up to expectations. This is a desperation move by the Indianapolis Colts. Sauce Gardner at best is a really good player, but he’s not worth two number ones.”



Gardner is expected to make his debut against the Atlanta Falcons on Sunday. Going against a player like Drake London could show Prisco and others where the cornerback stands among the best in his position.&nbsp;
