The <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/topic/tennessee-titans" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Tennessee Titans</a> fell to 0-4 after losing to divisional rivals Jacksonville Jaguars. Speaking to the media after the game, quarterback Cam Ward was in no mood to sugarcoat his team’s recent performances.



“If we keep it a buck right now, we a–. We’ve dropped a quarter of our f—— games,” <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/topic/cam-ward" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Ward</a> said during the post-game press conference. The reactions have been actually positive as fans are praising Ward for being honest.



He is really not wrong. The Titans were shut down by the Texans as they lost 0-26. Last week, the team lost by 21 points vs. another divisional rival in the Colts. They were blown out by the Rams in Week 2 and scored only 12 points in Week 1.

While Ward is not playing like a number one overall pick should, his weapons are nowhere to be found. Calvin Ridley has not been as reliable as he’s always been, Tyler Lockett has six catches all year and Van Jefferson has three catches all season.

This means the rookies Elic Ayomanor and Chimere Dike should step up. Ayomanor has, leading the team in yards with 151, which is not great, but his leading the team nevertheless.

Head coach Brian Callahan’s seat was hot before the start of the season but right now his job couldn’t be in more jeopardy. If we take a closer look on the Titans’ games, they are easily outcoached on playcalling, situational football and decision-making.



Callahan is not able to move the chains and he was supposed to be an offensive guru. His clock management is not good, the play designs are not creating openings and the team is not even close to winning games. The Titans front office must be carefully monitoring Callahan’s job.

“I would say situationally is the biggest thing. I think I’ve got better at that from last week to this week on some key downs. I would say taking care of the ball. Those would be the biggest, just to take care of a ball,” Ward said. “Even though we had two turnovers last week, one turnover this week, and just staying on schedule. Offensively, we have to stay on schedule. We have yet to do that. And the more we continue to stay on schedule, we’ll just continue to be good drives for us. Every time we don’t stay on schedule, it’s always a bad drive. So, just continue to get better, up front locking in, myself locking in, and receivers and running backs locking in.”



The Titans are far away from contention, but it’s clear that Ward is taking things slowly, as he focuses on getting better to elevate his team’s game. The Titans will clash with the 2-0 Indianapolis Colts on Sunday in their first divisional duel of the season.&nbsp;

Regarding the sacks he took, Ward did not miss the opportunity to be self-critical. “I think it was more about not getting the ball out. Especially the consecutive sacks… There are things I need to improve on week by week. At the end of the day, nobody’s perfect.”

According to the Titans website, they agreed terms on the a contract extension with safety Amani Hooker. Hooker’s agent Jack Bechta told reporters the deal is a three-year extension worth $48.6 million with $29 million guaranteed. 



Hooker was a fourth-round pick back in 2019. He spent two seasons as a backup, but he has turned into a solid player, starting every game (barring injuries) over the last four seasons. He has 335 tackles, 12 interceptions, five forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries in his career.



<h2>Amani Hooker is the only healthy strong safety on the team</h2>



Not only is this a good extension, given the fact that Hooker has proved himself, but the other strong safety on the roster is Kevin Winston Jr., who is injured with a knee issue and won’t be ready for the start of the season. This means Hooker will be a workhorse for the moment.

Last season, Hooker was stellar with five picks in a very underrated secondary. He played 96% of the defensive snaps available. He was, indeed, one of the most constant players for this defense.

<h2>Hooker and company must be elite if they want to beat the Broncos</h2>

Being in the Titans has driven the spotlight away from Ridley. However, his numbers are very good. Ridley has posted two 1,000-yard seasons back to back and has scored 12 touchdowns in the past couple of years. The guy is a menace.

Besides Ridley, there are a couple of names that are destined to be of great help for this offense. Tennessee also brought veteran wideouts Tyler Lockett and Van Jefferson. Lockett, specifically, should thrive in the intermediate level of the field.



Not to mention, they have a very good running back in Tony Pollard. He is a dual threat as Pollard also knows how to create damage from his pass-catching ability. Pollard ended 2024 with 1317 scrimmage yards and five touchdowns.

But, I mean, just coming out of college, to the draft, I thought he was one of the better quarterbacks in the draft as well, even throughout college. He’s been productive where he’s been every time.”


 


“We both started in the FCS. He was at, you know, Jackson State, I was at Incarnate Word and that’s where, really, we met for the first time, with our quarterback coach when we first got to college,” Ward continued. “He’s always been, you know, just a great person to be around. A lot of stuff out there on him ain’t really, you know, the truth, just because they spin it different ways like they spin stuff about me different ways. But, I mean, I’ve always thought he was a productive quarterback. I mean, a lot of people may have their own opinion. I have mine as well.”
