The tournament went on without any kindof setbacks, so we’re glad to announce that Major League Soccer has already released its schedule<strong> for the 2020 MLS season.</strong></p>
<p>There have been several questions about the upcoming campaign that are yet to be answered. In the meantime, <strong>FC Dallas and Nashville SC </strong>will face off three times to make up for the games they missed after being withdrawnfrom the MLS is Back tournament.</p>
<p>So, in the following paragraphs, we’ll break down everythingthere is to know about the 2020 <a href="https://www.mlssoccer.com/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">MLS season</a>: how to watch, schedule, key dates, and all safety protocols <strong>as shared by Major League Soccer.</strong></p>

<h2>Schedule</h2>
<p>Every team will play <strong>an additional 18 games</strong> following the MLS is Back Tournament, for seeding purposes. As we mentioned before, FC Dallas and Nashville SC will face off three times to make up for their missed games.</p>
<p>The 2020 MLS season will start on Thursday,August 20. All teams will face off vs. six regional opponents through September 14 for the first face of the season. <strong>The regular season will end on November 8, with the rest of the schedule set to be released in September.</strong></p>
<p>It’s also worth noting that for the first time, the Audi MLS Cup Playoffs <strong>will feature 18 teams</strong>, up from 14 last year. The playoffs are slated to begin on November 20 and will go through December 12.<span></span></p>

<p>All teams will travel in chartered flights and buses and their parties will consist only of essential staff and players. Also,<strong> Canadian teams will most likely have to play in the U.S</strong>. due to current travel restrictions.</p>
<p>Moreover, all teams will establish partnerships with local labs to test their players and staff every other day, including the day before each game. <strong>Every team will also enforce health guidelines</strong> to prevent players from contracting and spreading the virus while away from the team.</p>

<p>Major League Soccerannounced that<a href="https://www.espn.com/soccer/nashville-sc/story/4131378/nashville-follow-dallaspull-out-of-mls-is-back-tournament-after-coronavirus-tests" target="_blank" rel="noopener"> FC Dallas and Nashville SC have withdrawn</a><strong>from the MLS is Backtournament</strong>. Players andstaff members tested from both teams tested positive for Covid-19. The decision was made in the best interest of the health of all players and staff participating in the tournament, the league said.</p>

<p>This past week there was another rumor in the <strong>Inter Miami</strong> world, one of the many rumors that we will be hearing for the next couple of months until the club finally signs their top world football star they’ve been searching for. But this rumor is more significant than the other ones for one main reason: this player is only 28 years old and is still in his prime.</p>
<p>If you guessed <strong>James Rodríguez</strong> then you guessed correctly, the Colombian,<strong> Real Madrid </strong>and <strong>Bayern Munich</strong> number 10 is rumored to be the one player that <strong>David Beckham </strong>is trying to lure to the beaches and warm weather of South Florida. As an Inter Miami fan it would be a dream come true if a player like James Rodríguez came to play for us.</p>

<p>Yes, we’re all very aware that he will be by far the hardest player to sign from amongst the other players that have been linked to be coming to Miami (<strong>Edinson Cavani, Cesc Fàbregas, David Silva, Luis Suárez and Luka Modric</strong>) mainly because he’s only 28 years old and the other players mentioned are passed 32 years of age, but he would be the best option for the team, he would give the team a whole lot more years than the other rumored players.</p>
<p>There are some Inter Miami fans that don’t like the idea of James Rodríguez joining our squad, many say that he’s not a caliber player, some say that he’s constantly injured, or that he’s too lazy of a player. <strong>Some say that it will be impossible for him to sign for Miami when top clubs such as Arsenal and Manchester United are also going after him.</strong></p>

<p>Personally, I feel that James best option is Miami, as crazy as it sounds. But if I were to put myself in his shoes, considering the fact that he is constantly moving with his family every two years and hehasn’t had much playing time in the teams that he has played for in the past six years, why would I want to move to the <strong>English Premier League</strong> to either Arsenal or Manchester United, two struggling teams that have been trying to rebuild their squads for the past few seasons?</p>
<p>If he chooses Miami, he will be playing every week and his family will be in a city that I’m sure they would love, considering the fact that South Florida has a large Colombian community. It would be like home away from home for the Rodríguez family. <strong>Although he can still choose to play at the highest level in Europe, no team will assure him of secured playing time which is something that he really needs since the 2022 World Cup is just around the corner.</strong></p>

<p>I’ve followed James since the <strong>2014 World Cup in Brazil</strong>. I remember watching the<strong> Colombia vs Uruguay</strong> game in which James chested down a passed and turned and volleyed the ball into the back of the net. If I recall correctly, that was the goal of the tournament, at the point I knew that top teams would come knocking on his door the second the cup ended.</p>
<p>Unfortunately for James, the wrong team came knocking: <strong>Real Madrid</strong>, a team whose playing style doesn’t benefits him.<strong> The fast playing style of Real Madrid is the opposite of the “tiki taka” style of football that James plays with the Colombian national team</strong>. I always thought that he would have been more successful playing for<strong> Barcelona</strong> <strong>than Madrid.</strong> I can’t say that I was fully right because he never played for Barcelona, but I was right that he wasn’t successful at Madrid because of his lack playing time.</p>

<p><strong>Zinedine Zidane</strong> didn’t like his playing style, and Madrid loaned him to Munich, another team that plays extremely vertical, fast pace football, something that James finds a hard time getting used to. That’s why I don’t think that it would be a very good idea if James chose to play in the<strong> Premier League</strong>. If he found it difficult to get used to the pace of the<strong> Bundesliga</strong>, then he will find it even harder to get used to the fast, physical pace of the <strong>Premier League</strong>.</p>
<p><strong>If Miami were to sign James Rodríguez, he would be by far, the biggest signing in MLS history. </strong>He might not be the best signing ever when it comes to “football quality”, because players like <strong>Thierry Henry, David Beckham, David Villa, Frank Lampard </strong>and others are far better players and accomplished more than James has in his career. But the fact remains and James is still a world football star, only 28 years old, still at the peak of his career.</p>

<p>He would be considered the biggest signing in history, it would change MLS fame as a “retirement” league, which is something that MLS has been trying to change little by little in the past years especially when they brought<strong> Sebastian Giovinco to Toronto</strong>. The Italian Ace was also in his late 20’s when he moved to MLS from world class team<strong> Juventus</strong>, but he isn’t at the level of James Rodriguez when it comes to the level of football.</p>
<p><strong>Imagine if James came to Inter Miami, he would provide the team with at least 6 or 7 years of top football. </strong>He would accomplished what other world class players that have come to MLS didn’t accomplish, and that is, that he would help to build up the history of a team by playing more than five seasons in a top level and not retire after playing only two or three seasons in MLS.</p>

<p>From a marketing point of view, James would be an incredible signing for Miami. <strong>The large amount of Colombians living in Miami would be extremely happy to see their “number 10” playing in their backyard every weekend.</strong> Some might not be so happy because they would consider the level of MLS too low for James, but one thing is for sure, James will sell a whole lot of jerseys for the team, as well as tickets. <strong>Inter Miami has already sold their season tickets for their inaugural season, and it’s extremely difficult to find individual game tickets. The signing of James Rodríguez would make it even more difficult.</strong></p>
<p>For a fan, such as myself, the one and only reason why his signing would matter to me is that I know that he would bring a lot to the team with his football. I don’t care about the marketing aspect, as I mentioned before in <a href="https://us.bolavip.com/soccer/opinion-gonzalo-higuain-would-not-be-a-quality-signing-for-inter-miami-20200423-0001.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">my previous column</a>. <strong>What I want is a player that will provide the team with world class football for many seasons and not only two seasons.</strong></p>

<p>If this signing were to come true, it would benefit the team, the league and James. He would have stability with his family, he would be in a team in which he would be respected by his teammates, coaches and owners, something that he hasn’t had since arriving in Madrid. It would also benefit the <strong>Colombian national team</strong> because James would be playing every week and not sitting on a bench, no footballer wants to be sitting down on bench for an entire season. <strong>That wouldn’t be a problem in Miami.</strong></p>
<p>I read some comments from Inter Miami fans saying that we don’t need him in the team because we already have<strong> Rodolfo Pizarro </strong>as our number 10. My answer to that comment is that <strong>James or Pizarro are two world class players and can adapt to each other if they were to play together.</strong></p>

<p>In Madrid, James played out on the right<strong>, Luka Modric</strong> is their number 10. I’m sure James would be delighted to play as a false 9, someone who roams around wherever they like, kinda like what <strong>Lionel Messi does in Barcelona</strong>. Pizarro can still be the number 10, providing the strikers with passes to score goals.</p>
<p>Only time will tell where James will end up playing, but <strong>if he were to choose Miami over any other teams in Europe, it will mean a whole lot for the league and for Inter Miami.</strong> We, the fans, would welcome him with open arms. We would say: “Bienvenido a Miami, James!</p>

<p>For the past two weeks, there was a rumor that <strong>Inter Miami CF</strong> made an offer for <strong>Juventus’ striker Gonzalo “Pipita” Higuaín</strong> to join the team this summer once the pandemic is under control and<strong> MLS </strong>resumes its season. Although those are just rumors, there are already <strong>a large amount of the Inter Miami fans that are not happy with the idea of seeing Higuaín playing for Miami.</strong></p>
<p>There are many factors, or reasons why most fans oppose to this signing, but I think<strong> the main reasons are that most people feel that Higuaín is past his prime and is a bit too slow and not very technical</strong>. In fact, despite his more than 256 goals scored throughout his career, most fans still don’t consider him a world star, they don’t see him at the same level as <strong>Lionel Messi, Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Cristiano Ronaldo, Neymar, Kylian Mbappe, Luis Suárez, Edinson Cavani</strong> and many others.</p>

<p>The main reason why fans don’t consider him a player at the level of the players that I just mentioned is the lack of his technical abilities, and <strong>his fitness, which is something that has haunted him for many years already, since his Real Madrid playing era.</strong></p>

<p>Another reason why most Inter Miami fans reacted so negatively to this rumor is that most of them are South Americans, many from <strong>Argentina</strong>, who still haven’t forgotten Higuaín’s missed goals in the <strong>2014 World Cup </strong>and missed goals in the 2015, 2016 <strong>Copa América </strong>editions. Three consecutive world stage tournaments that Higuaín missed clear chances that would have given Argentina two Copa América titles and one World Cup, thus, <strong>giving Leo Messi the one cup that would consecrate him as the best footballer in history</strong>.</p>

<p>In the eyes of many soccer fans, the name Gonzalo Higuaín is a synonym of failure, as sad as it sounds, as cold as this may sound. This is what most people think whenever they hear his name. Soccer can be cruel at times and this is one of those times in which soccer cruelty applies to its maximum force.</p>
<p>As for me and many Inter Miami fans, one of the other reasons why we wouldn’t be happy with the signing of Higuaín is that<strong> we feel that he’s too old to come here</strong>. Yes, we know that MLS is known for bringing world soccer players past their primes, but at least those players that have come to MLS past their primes are in good physical conditions and are highly technical, that’s something that Higuaín lacks, technical abilities.</p>

<p>Many people think that playing in MLS is easy, that most European players can play here without any problems, <strong>when in fact it’s the other way around.</strong> MLS is a tough league to play at, for one, there are long flights from one state to the next, different time zones, long bus rides, most teams fly coach, there’s little rest for the players when they arrive to different cities, many games are played during the day, summer days in states such as Florida, Georgia, LA, Dallas, and NY are very hot. Most European players aren’t used to playing at temperatures past 100 degrees.</p>
<p>During the 2014 Brazil World Cup, they had to implement water breaks during the games because of the high temperatures, <strong>very seldom you see water breaks in MLS during summer games. A lot of games are played at 2 pm in Miami, meaning, the temperature will be past 100 Degrees Fahrenheit.</strong> Imagine Higuaín playing for Miami during a hot mid-July game? Most likely he wouldn’t last the entire game because he’s not used to playing at such a high temperature.</p>

<p>It’s a lot easier for Higuaín to score goals in teams such as<strong> Juventus</strong> and <strong>Real Madrid</strong>, just look at the world class players that he was surrounded by. <strong>That wouldn’t be the case here in MLS.</strong> That means he would have to rely more on his own technical abilities to create chances of his own, and that will be a high problem for him.</p>
<p>Players such as <strong>Zlatan, David Beckham, David Villa, Kaká </strong>and many others didn’t find any problems scoring goals because these players are highly technical and are used to creating their own scoring chances, unlike Higuain, who pretty much served as a post in which the ball bounces off of him and goes into the net, something similar to <strong>Chicharito Hernández</strong>, who’s having a hard time scoring goals for<strong> LA Galaxy </strong>for the same reasons, lack of technical abilities.</p>

<p>In conclusion, as an Inter Miami fan,<strong> I would like the team to focus more into bringing young players, young up and coming players that will build up the future of our team. </strong>We want Inter Miami to follow the footsteps of what <strong>Atlanta United</strong> has done since their inaugural season in which they brought young talent from South America, their gamble paid off and the team has already established themselves as a powerhouse in MLS.</p>
<p>They brought young players such as<strong> Miguel Almirón</strong>, who’s now playing for <strong>Newcastle United of the Premier League</strong>. They also brought <strong>Josef Martínez</strong> who has broken MLS scoring records, and now they brought <strong>Gonzalo Martínez from Argentina Primera División power house River Plate</strong>. The latter player could have gone to<strong> Europe</strong> or <strong>Mexico Liga MX</strong>, but he chose Atlanta United, a young team with no history but with high ambitions, that’s what most Inter Miami fans want.</p>

<p>We want a team with high ambitions, to build up our team for our present and future. <strong>We don’t want old players from Europe to come here and play two years and then retire</strong>. We want players that will give us <strong>at least seven years at the highest level of their playing careers</strong>. We want a team that will compete to win every game, to win every title, we want to be the best in MLS, and why not, the American continent.</p>
<p>We have a great team of owners that are as ambitious as their fans, they don’t settle for less, and neither do us, the fans, thus the reason why <strong>we feel that Gonzalo Higuaín isn’t the player that we’re looking for.</strong> We need someone better, and<strong> if they do decide to bring someone his age, then try to sign Cavani</strong>, a proven goal scorer, highly technical and who’s still hungry in winning. As for now, all we can do is speculate, wait and see what happens, only time will tell, but<strong> I rather dream big and wish my team bring the best young players they can bring, players that will build our team and will give it their all for the entire 90 minutes on the pitch.</strong></p>
