Nevertheless, in a highly competitive battle, it was the consistently reliable Jacoby Brissett who was chosen to start the season as the starting quarterback—someone with significant experience in such games.

I got let down again and was like, ‘I’m done after this year. I’m going to retire. Football is breaking my heart more than it’s making me happy.&apos;”

During the preseason game against the Commanders, Jacoby Brissett injured his shoulder and had to leave the game. Nevertheless, he has assured that he will be available for the season opener.



In statements to WEEI, the former Colts and Browns player declared: “It’s good. I think it was more of like a precautionary measure. . . . I’m fine. I hadn’t gotten hit in eight months, so it kind of surprised me more than anything. I feel good, excited, ready for the season.”

But a starting job may not be on the cards for him anymore, so it looks like the Bills would have to give him a reason to prefer being a backup in Buffalo than elsewhere.

These signal-callers could be among the candidates to take over in 2023.

Though on paper this would be a major downgrade, the Buccaneers may consider promoting from within given that theirsalary cap situation next year is not pretty at all. Since Blaine Gabbert is not getting any younger, the Bucs may try their luck with Kyle Trask.
Drafted in the second round of the 2021 NFL Draft, the Florida product has yet to make a name for himself in the NFL – he made his first appearance in 2022, completing 3 passes for 29 yards in the season finale loss to the Falcons. That said, Trask knows the offense and may have learned a thing or two about Brady all these years.

Another realistic target for the Buccaneers if Brady leaves, Jacoby Brissett could be a better option if they want experience. The 30-year-old quarterback is out of contract in 2023 and his salary wouldn’t be an obstacle.
After a rather disappointing stint with the Dolphins in 2021, Brissett did fine for the Cleveland Browns during Deshaun Watson’s suspension. At least while they figure out how to fix their salary cap for the future, Brissett could help them get through the year.

Though Brady’s departure would leave the Bucs in a tough spot, they could still find a solution in Jimmy Garoppolo. His departure from San Francisco may have been delayed by a shoulder surgery last year, but now he looks ready to move away.
Jimmy G will probably be one of the biggest names on the QB free agency in 2023, but unlike other options, the Bucs could actually work out a dealwith him that fits in their salary cap. Garoppolo has plenty of experience, as well as deep playoff runs under his belt.

After months of speculation, we finally know how long <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/nfl/deshaun-watson-case-what-does-the-nflpa-mean-by-will-stand-by-the-judge-ruling-20220801-0001.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Deshaun Watson</a> will be on the sidelines.The former <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/nfl/2022-houston-texans-hc-lovie-smith-second-nfl-black-coach-wife-family-and-career-20220222-0016.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Houston Texans</a> star will be suspended for six weeks, but he’s free to join the <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/nfl/nfl-news-deshaun-watsons-potential-suspension-revealed-amid-federal-lawsuit-threat-20220719-0005.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Cleveland Browns</a> for practice as soon as Week 4.
Some believed that the NFL would look to make an example out of him and suspend him for an entireyear, and Watson’s camp was reportedly ready to sue the league if that happened. So now, the team will have to hold down the fort without him:
“<a href="https://bolavip.com/en/nfl/nfl-news-deshaun-watson-could-face-year-long-suspension-and-still-play-this-season-20220701-0003.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Browns</a> coach Kevin Stefanski said at the start of training camp last week that Jacoby Brissett would become Cleveland’s starter in the event of a Watson suspension,” reported Jake Trotter of ESPN. “Through the first week of camp, Watson took the majority of the snaps with the first-team offense, but Stefanski indicated the Browns “may adjust” their plan following Robinson’s ruling.”
<h2>NFL News: Browns Won’t Make A Trade For Another QB</h2>
Clearly, the Browns are high on Brissett and don’t think they need to add more depth a the QB position. According to NFL Network’s James Palmer, they won’t engage in talks for Jimmy Garoppolo or any other quarterback:
“From a football standpoint, the #browns are currently going with Jacoby Brissett for the first 6 games of the season and are not actively looking outside the building at quarterbacks,” Palmer reported.
Brissett has some nice pedigree for a backup QB. He had stints with the New England Patriots and was even the starter for the Indianapolis Colts, amassing 7,742 passing yards, 653 rushing yards, 49 total TDs, and 17 INTs throughout his career.
So, even though he’s not Deshaun Watson, the Browns could do a lot worse for their first six games against the Panthers, Jets, Steelers, Falcons, Chargers, and Patriots before Watson’s potential debut against the Ravens in Week 7.
