“You know, I would love to say yes, it does motivate me and I could put it on my locker and use it as bulletin board material… I’m in a spot where not many people, maybe me and my family are the only people that thought that I’d ever be here. So, I’m gonna keep running with that. It serves me well and I’m just gonna keep playing football the way I know how to play it.“

Upon learning the results, many athletes were left perplexed. Among those who defended Josh Allen was none other than <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/topic/lebron-james">LeBron James</a>, who took to social media to deliver a clear message to those who voted the Bills QB as the most overrated.



Sports Illustrated posted the final results of the survey on their Instagram account, and LeBron was one of the first to comment. The post read: “Josh Allen stunningly voted NFL’s most overrated quarterback by fellow players”.



In response to the situation, the Los Angeles Lakers star and recent gold medalist at the Paris 2024 Olympics with Team USA, replied: “I GUARANTEE he’s at the top of the scouting report before playing Buffalo offensively! So who cares”.

Something appears to be missing, some point the finger on their QB, others on the support cast around him. Regardless of who is to blame, Bills Mafia ends up getting the short side of the stick time and time again as the team fails to make it to the big game.



However, the skepticism is not limited to within the walls of the organization, or actually quite the contrary. As a recent poll indicated many around the league share an opinion about QB Josh Allen, and it is not a good one. Mixing those two tags together does not give a good look on Buffalo’s number 17. 



This feeling towards Allen showcases the toll caused on his image by his turnovers and his attitude. Of course the NFL is a business and quarterbacks don’t need to be apprecciated by anybody else but their teammates, however this is a negative point. Allen is in the hunt for postseason glory, yet he seems to be disrespected by many opponents.

On the other hand, Allen also finished fourth in votes for “Best quarterback in the league”, which comes to show his opponents may think he is overrated but cannot deny he is still a top talent. Overrated does not equal bad nor any similar tag to Allen, but it does indicate players dislike how the Bills QB is portrayed by fans and media.

<h2>Steffon Diggs’ public outbursts put Allen on the spot</h2>



There are no such things as coincidences. Or so it appears as recent survey has Allen voted for the ‘most overrated QB’ after an offseason in which his star wideout Stefon Diggs was traded to Houston. Diggs is anything but shy or reserved, if he is uneasy he will let everybody know. And so he did many times in Buffalo, often aiming at his quarterback. His sideline quarrels became expected whenever things turned south for the Bills.



There was and remains nothing but respect between Allen and Diggs. Even though many pointed to their occasional heated arguments, Allen allayed any suspicions after the trade with the Texans was finalized. 



“It’s definitely hard to part ways with a guy that’s been instrumental to our success here,” Allen said. “I wish we could keep everybody. We lost a lot of veteran leadership. It is what it is. I don’t get paid to make changes on the team.”



Allen’s production took off since Diggs arrived in Buffalo from Minnesota. His number one target gave him the confidence that made Josh a top player in the league and despite his turnovers put him in the conversation for best in the league not named Patrick Mahomes.



However, the doubtful remain and without Diggs and thus missing a clear number one receiver, the 2024 NFL season will prove crucial for Allen to make a statement to the league. Time will tell whether over 100 players voted accurately or Josh Allen will be able to prove them all wrong.

Despite an <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/nfl">NFL</a> Draft in which the Bills took Florida State wide receiver Keon Coleman in the second round, the team’s depth in that room was still too shallow. Free agency additions Curtis Samuel and Marquez Valdes-Scantling came into Buffalo but have gone down with injuries during the preseason. As it stands, the rookie Coleman will have to fill into the big void left behind by Diggs departure.



Those are some really big shoes to fill and Josh Allen and the <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/topic/buffalo-bills">Bills</a>‘ championship window depends on it. However, McDermott may have hinted towards an optimistic horizon. And that hope might just be what Allen needs to boost his confidence and elevate everybody around him.

Claypool won’t be Diggs’ replacement, that’s for certain. Despite his first two years with the Steelers being decent, each tallying over 800 yards, his subsequent years have been quite disappointing. Across his tenure with three teams, he only managed 528 receiving yards.

Following Stefon Diggs’ departure, the Bills do not have a top-wide receiver today. It is rumored that they could hire a free agent, but there are not too many options left for them.

Of course, Dalton Kincaid and Dawson Knox are great pass-catching tight ends, and Curtis Samuel is a reliable receiver. Perhaps that’s why the Bills won’t go out of their way to get someone else, according to GM Brandon Beane.

Beane doubled down on his statement by stating that they would only go after a legitimate and bona fide player at WR if he falls into their laps, adding that they don’t need a true WR1:



“And if it’s a tall guy that Josh is gonna throw him a 50-50 ball, he’s gotta come down with it. If it’s a guy that we wanna get the ball in his hands and when we need some RAC he’s gonna do that. I think that’s what we’re looking for. If there’s a ‘one’ that pops out either in free agency or the draft that makes sense for us or a really good ‘two,’ you know, we’ll do it, but I don’t think not having a ‘one’ doesn’t mean we can’t have success on offense or as a team,” added Beane.
