<p><strong><a href="https://bolavip.com/en/topic/bill-belichick">Bill Belichick</a></strong> led one of the greatest dynasties in sports history as head coach of the <strong><a href="https://bolavip.com/en/topic/new-england-patriots">New England Patriots</a></strong>, yet teams passed up on the opportunity to hire him this offseason. <strong>That surprised <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/topic/tom-brady">Tom Brady</a> as much as it did to most of us</strong>.</p>



<p><em>“I’m not one to hire (coaches),”</em> Brady said on his ‘Let’s Go’ podcast, via NFL.com. <em>“I don’t know the criteria for hiring these guys, for hiring coaches. I’ve never been a part of it. I mean, <strong>I’m surprised that the greatest coach ever doesn’t have a job, absolutely. But I’m surprised (by) a lot of things in the NFL.”</strong></em></p>



<p>Brady spent most of his career under Belichick, with whom he formed one of, if not the best quarterback-coach duo <strong>in <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/nfl">NFL</a> history</strong>. Together, they were the faces of the Patriots dynasty that won <strong>six <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/topic/super-bowl">Super Bowls</a> in two decades</strong>.</p>



<p>That makes Belichick the most successful coach of all time, which is why it makes so much noise to see him fail to land a head coaching job for 2024. Many would have expected Belichick to have plenty of offers on the table, but it hasn’t been the case. While Brady cannot explain how the hiring process of a coach works, he <strong>knows what is like to hit the open market</strong> in the NFL.</p>

<p>“<em><strong>When I was a free agent, there (were) a lot of teams that didn’t want me,</strong></em>” Brady said. “<em>… <strong>There (are) a lot of things that happen that, for one reason or another, don’t go exactly the way you think they should go.”</strong></em></p>

<h2>Brady, Belichick fare differently after breakup</h2>



<p>Brady’s departure from Foxborough in 2020 <strong>proved to be a turning point for everyone affected by the change</strong>. While for the quarterback it meant an opportunity to prove his doubters wrong, it <strong>turned out to be a painful loss</strong> for Belichick and the Patriots.</p>



<p>Brady immediately settled in at the <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/topic/tampa-bay-buccaneers">Tampa Bay Buccaneers</a>, leading the team to Super Bowl victory in his very first season away from New England. The Patriots, on the other hand, failed to make the playoffs that year. <strong>And it only went worse</strong>.</p>



<p>Though the organization seemed to be getting back on its feet in 2021, when rookie quarterback <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/topic/mac-jones">Mac Jones</a> gave reasons for optimism by leading the team to its first postseason appearance since Brady left, it <strong>didn’t take long for everything to fall apart.</strong></p>



<h3>Belichick fails to succeed without Brady</h3>



<p>Jones and the Patriots’ offense took many steps back in 2022, as the franchise finished the season with a losing record to fall short from a playoff berth again. The worst was yet to come, as 2023 proved to be <strong>such a terrible year</strong> that it ended with Belichick’s time at Gillette Stadium.</p>

<p>The Patriots finished bottom of the AFC East at 4-13, the worst record in the Belichick era, and the coach paid the price for it. While Brady continued to find success in Tampa Bay by making the playoffs in all three seasons with the team, the best Belichick could do without him was <strong>a Wild Card appearance in four years</strong>.</p>

<p>That lack of success without Brady, in addition to his age (71 years old) and authority he got used to having at the Patriots may have been reasons why teams passed up on Belichick this offseason. The <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/topic/atlanta-falcons">Falcons</a> interviewed him twice, but ended up hiring Raheem Morris.</p>

<p>During the 2024 Pro Bowl games, Eli Manning was invited to a rap battle, and he didn’t hesitate tu name Brady in his rhymes. <em>“All right, you ready?”</em> he said. <strong><em>“I’m Eli Manning, I’m nice. Tom Brady is the GOAT? Sike! I beat him twice!”</em></strong></p>



<p>It is true that Eli is widely regarded as <strong>Brady’s biggest rival during his career</strong>. Tom was unable to defeat him in the most important game of the season, with Manning delivering remarkable performances while competing for the Vince Lombardi trophy.</p>



<p>This beef between Manning and Brady is not new. Eli has mentioned multiple times that the <strong>seven-time Super Bowl champion</strong> is upset with his mother because, if not for her, he would have finished his career with two more rings.</p>

With four Super Bowl appearances in the last five years (on Sunday they’ll pursue the third ring in this process), <strong><a href="https://bolavip.com/en/topic/patrick-mahomes">Patrick Mahomes</a></strong> and company are defining an era like the <strong><a href="https://bolavip.com/en/topic/tom-brady">Tom Brady</a></strong>-led <strong><a href="https://bolavip.com/en/topic/new-england-patriots">New England Patriots</a></strong> did earlier this century.</p>



<p>But apart from their dominance, what these dynasties have in common is that their success didn’t sit well with the rest of the league. Mahomes is aware that <strong>most neutral fans are rooting against</strong> the Chiefs this year, which reminds him of the opposition the Patriots faced back in the day. However, the 28-year-old <strong>expects his team to handle it differently</strong>.</p>



<p>“<em><strong>I know the Patriots had that for a while. I’m hoping we do it in a different way with a little bit more fun and personality with it</strong></em>,” Mahomes told Jeff Darlington of <em>ESPN</em> when talking about the villain status his success in Kansas City has created in other fans’ eyes.</p>



<p>Mahomes and company have seen how other fan bases were rooting for their opponents throughout the playoffs, especially in the AFC Championship Game, when the possibility of seeing Kansas City in yet another <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/topic/super-bowl">Super Bowl</a> became even more real. Being the villain is not what the Texas Tech product wants, <strong>but if that’s what it takes to continue succeeding, it won’t be a problem.</strong></p>

<h2>Unlike Brady, Mahomes goes from beloved to villain</h2>

Of course, <strong>others went even further</strong> by claiming New England was favored by the officials.</p>

<p>But eventually, Brady <strong>seemed to change the narrative</strong> around his image. All it took was to leave New England and prove he could succeed elsewhere. <p>For years, Belichick made all the decisions, both minor and major, for the <strong><a href="https://bolavip.com/en/topic/new-england-patriots" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">New England Patriots.</a></strong> It worked out perfectly, with<strong> </strong><a href="https://bolavip.com/en/topic/tom-brady" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener"><strong>Tom Brady</strong> </a>cementing himself as the greatest quarterback of all time and leading them to <strong>six <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/topic/super-bowl" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Super Bowl</a> rings.</strong></p>



<p>Brady’s departure, however, <strong>stained Belichick’s otherwise perfect legacy. </strong>Not only was he responsible for his exit, but he also failed to find any sort of success without his stellar pupil, making some people question whether he was always a byproduct of his quarterback.</p>



<p>Recently, <strong>Tom Brady Sr.</strong> shed some light on what transpired between him and his son, and while he admits that Belichick is an elite coach, he also thinks <strong>he’s not good with people and has a bit of an ego.</strong></p>

But his interpersonal skills are horrible. </strong>That’s the bottom line. How many times has he said — back in ’15 or ’16 — that he wanted to win without Tommy? When he went without Tommy, he didn’t know what he was losing. You’re losing more than just a quarterback.<strong> Ego sometimes gets in the way of things. I think it did with Bill. <p>Belichick <strong>infamously wanted to trade Brady multiple times. </strong>Brady resented him and felt disrespected, and he went on to win another Super Bowl with the <strong>Tampa Bay Buccaneers.</strong></p>



<p>The Patriots, on the other hand, <strong>became a bottom-feeding team and haven’t even won a playoff game since he left.</strong> Now, no one seems to be even slightly interested in giving Belichick the keys to their team.</p>



<h2>Kraft Apologized For His Mistake</h2>



<p>Belichick was the one who convinced <strong>Robert Kraft </strong>that Brady was done, which was a breaking point in their relationship that eventually led to his dismissal. At least the team owner reached out to the Bradys with a mea culpa:</p>
