Donald, however, is preparing to come back stronger. The 32-year-old went under the knife early in the offseason, but that’s not holding back. With the 2023 season drawing nearer, the Rams star warns that he’s never been better.

“I’m coming off of ankle surgery this season, so I’m trying to keep my body in top shape, pretty much training Monday through Friday and sometimes Saturdays,” Donald told HauteLiving.com. “I’m in the weight room, conditioning, making sure that I’m able to move how I need to move.



“And honestly, I’m in the best shape of my life. I feel like my strength is where it needs to be. I’m trying to stay away from a lot of fried food, sugars, and things that can cause inflammation, and eat a lot of protein. If I eat certain bad stuff, I just feel like I have to work out. I’ve been doing it for so long that it’s just mental with me now. I grew up a chubby little kid, and I try as hard as I can not to get back to that chubby little kid. I’m scared of that guy [because] I like to take my shirt off and look good. So, I’m trying to make sure that I’m healthy for football, but also for life, period. And right now, my body is looking good.”

“It’s really day-to-day. He just felt a little tweak. It was a red zone route and just felt a little tightness in his hamstring. I don’t think it’s anything to be overly concerned with, but we want to be able to be smart with him and I’m hopeful to get him back out here sooner than later.”



So, Sean McVay faced the big question regarding Kupp’s availability for the opener against the Seahawks on September 10. “He knows his body so well and he’s got a specific plan. You guys see him. He’s out here moving around. As far as exactly when he’s back, I’m definitely hopeful that by the time we at least have our competitive practices against the Raiders, he’s able to get that kind of work because I think that is important.”

Heading into the 2023 season, Stafford has a lot of confidence in Van Jefferson. The wide receiver is entering his fourth year in the league, and the quarterback believes he’ll do great.

“He’s a really good player,” Stafford said, via Pro Football Talk. “It was unfortunate what happened last year, just missing some time and having to battle through what he battled through. 



“He’s a resilient kid and has done a nice job coming back, working himself into the mental position and the shape that he’s in right now. I think he looks great. The more reps I get with him better and I know he feels really confident going into the season. We feel confident in him.”

He makes a significant difference.“

Injuries were a huge problem for the Rams last year. Apart from his elbow surgery earlier in the year, Stafford suffered a concussion and spinal cord contusion, for instance. But with their star QB healthy, the team hopes things can be different this time.
