The Texas Longhorns had a big scare during their win over the Kentucky Wildcats. Not neccesarily in the scoreboard, but on the field as quarterback <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/topic/quinn-ewers">Quinn Ewers</a> was visibly hurt and the discomfort hindered his performance. The Longhorns are now gearing up for a must-win matchup with the in-state rivals Texas A&amp;M Aggies. Ahead of the pivotal game, head coach Steve Sarkisian revealed the QB1’s status.



Ewers seemed to be mindful of his ankle after a hip drop tackle during the 31-14 victory over Kentucky. Many fans called for him to be replaced by Arch Manning, as the game looked to be sealed, and to avoid further injury. However, <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/topic/steve-sarkisian">Sarkisian</a> thought otherwise and Ewers stayed throughout the 60 minutes.



Texas appears to be a strong contender for a <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/college-football">College Football</a> Playoff spot. However, the team is also after the SEC title and their ticket to the final game is not secure, yet. On November 30, Texas will visit Texas A&amp;M in College Station in a matchup has effectively become a semifinal for the SEC Championship Game.



The winner will face the Georgia Bulldogs on December 7 at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta. Whichever Texas-based school wins next weekend will take on Georgia on a field that feels like the Dawgs’ second home. Ahead of the crucial matchup with Texas A&amp;M, Sarkisian provided an update on Ewers’ status as the <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/topic/texas-longhorns">Longhorns</a> return to practice on Monday afternoon.

“I think he’s doing okay,” Sarkisian said, via On3. “Our schedule is a little bit different. We’re normally a morning practice team, but with this being Thanksgiving week and no school, we’re not practicing until this afternoon. I’ll have a better understanding when I get to see him really on the field, but he’s planning on practicing today. We’ll see how that goes.”

<h2>Could Arch Manning take Ewers’ place under center?</h2>



The Longhorns look to close out the <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/topic/ncaa">NCAA</a> regular season with a statement win that’d send them into the Championship game and confirm their place in the Playoffs. 



Given this matchup’s high-stakes, it seems very unlikely Manning could take over Ewers’ spot. Especially considering the starting quarterback was not subbed-off during the win over Kentucky, which posed a much inferior threat than 8-3 (5-2 SEC) Texas A&amp;M.



However, it still cannot be taken for certain. Perhaps Ewers’ ankle worsened over the weekend, though it’s not looking good for those fans desperate to watch Manning calling the shots.

After the victory over Kentucky, Ewers delivered a message on his injury during the game.



“It’s just a little tender,” Ewers said. “I was around the 50-yard-line and I stepped up and kind of took off running a little bit and then kind of got hip-drop tackled and I think he kind of just rolled up on it a little bit. But it’s football and stuff like that happens.”

The four-time All-American and national champion amassed 2,872 points during his time as a Tar Heel. Davis still has a considerable gap of 713 points to reach Hansbrough’s record. With a remarkable 784 points scored last season, Davis has the potential to break the all-time scoring record if he maintains a similar scoring pace this year.



<h2>Davis decided to return for a fifth season</h2>



After a breakout season, RJ Davis solidified his status as one of the nation’s top college basketball players. He led the ACC in scoring, averaging 21.2 points per game, while also dishing out 3.5 assists. His sharpshooting ability, highlighted by a 39.8% three-point percentage, earned him All-American honors.



Davis’s journey to stardom began in 2020-21, a season impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. The additional year of eligibility granted to players during that time has allowed him to continue his development and shine on the national stage.



North Carolina enjoyed a successful 2023-2024 season, claiming the ACC regular-season title and earning a top seed in the NCAA Tournament. The Tar Heels advanced to the Sweet 16 before their tournament run was halted by Alabama.

The Bulldogs were always considered a bona fide contender to the National Championship and among the strongest programs in the competitive Southeastern Conference. Despite their losses (to ranked teams and in close matchups), the Dawgs were never taken for granted. However, the last outings have helped the team make a statement.



Beck’s play this year has been under heavy scrutiny, although Smart repeatedly had his team leader’s back. Finally, the quarterback has shown what he’s capable of and strung together all-around convincing performances. However, he credited the team and believes the Dawgs are just getting started.



“I think we’ve really, kind of found our stride kind of late in the season, whether it’s in the run game, and being able to find explosive plays in the pass game, and executing in the red zone. I think we’ve just had a really high level of execution here lately, and it is a good time to start hitting guys.”

The trip to Laramie turned out to be incredibly fruitful for Boise State. Spencer Danielson’s squad secured a crucial victory over Wyoming, bringing their record to ten wins and just one loss in the <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/college-football">NCAAF</a>. Ashton Jeanty, once again the standout player, raised concerns after exiting the game in the second half.



The final score, 17-13, perhaps fell a bit short of reflecting the game’s overall flow. Jeanty once again proved why he’s one of the top candidates for the Heisman Trophy, not only for the talent he’s shown throughout the season but also for overcoming multiple obstacles and playing despite his body telling him otherwise.



“Ashton’s a warrior,” head coach Spencer Danielson said, per ESPN. “I’m going to keep hitting that. He’s banged up. This is game 11, week 13 of the season, and he’s an absolute warrior playing through being banged up. … We got to be smart with his body and make sure we get him what he needs. In that last drive of the game, he was ready to go. … He’s going to be just fine.”



The talented RB Jeanty finished with another spectacular rushing line — 169 yards on 19 attempts and one touchdown, despite missing one drive due to a lower body injury.

The Broncos’ season has been nothing short of satisfying so far. With just one game left in the regular season, Coach Danielson knows that if there’s one thing his players don’t compromise on, it’s effort, and he made that clear after the win over Wyoming.

He also made it clear that they are solely focused on the next game: “I couldn’t tell you the last time we won back-to-back championships, I know it’s not in my time. We know whoever we play, we’re going to get their best and we have to be ready, but right now, we’re locked and focused on Oregon State.”

“It’s all about finish. We’ve gotta finish,” Milroe stated. “There’s so much left for the football season. We have to get everyone together, have like-mindedness and just keep on competing. Competing and every opportunity that we have, we just have to seize it.”



Alabama will participate in a bowl game to finish out the 2024 <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/topic/ncaa">NCAA</a> season. However, that was never the end-goal for the Crimson Tide and seems too little of a consolation prize.

The loss to the Gators means that Kiffin’s team now holds a record of eight wins and three losses, with just one game remaining. On Friday, November 29, with one less day of rest than usual, Ole Miss will host Mississippi State in Oxford for both teams’ final regular-season matchup.

That made a lot of plays in the first half when we had him back there.”

The upsetting defeat took the Crimson Tide out of contention for the SEC Championship and eliminated Kalen DeBoer’s side from the Playoffs. Jalen Milroe had an uncharacteristic outing and the head coach revealed what he told his quarterback during the game.



Alabama ran into an unexpected roadblock in Norman. The offense couldn’t get anything going all night long, and the Sooners cruised to a 24-3 victory. <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/topic/jalen-milroe">Milroe</a> finished the game with 11 completions for 164 yards and three interceptions, including a pick-six.



Milroe entered the game against Oklahoma after two consecutive strong outings against Mercer and LSU. However, in Norman, the Tide’s offense ran out of steam. <h2>When was the last time Alabama missed the Playoffs?</h2>



Since the CFP format was introduced in 2014, Alabama has failed to make an appearance on the <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/topic/ncaa">NCAA</a>‘s biggest stage in only three seasons. The NCAAB season is just beginning, but several players are already showing signs of being key protagonists this year. Dylan Harper, star of Rutgers and son of former Chicago Bulls player Ron Harper, is expected to be one of them. Some time ago, the talented player revealed a key piece of advice given to him by none other than <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/topic/michael-jordan">Michael Jordan</a> himself.


 


Both Harper and Ace Bailey are among those expected to be the next big stars in college basketball. In fact, many are predicting a future in the NBA for both players, provided their talent and physical attributes lead them in that direction.



Given his father’s close relationship with one of the greatest basketball players in history, Harper had the opportunity to meet Michael Jordan on several occasions. It was Dylan himself who, in statements to the press, revealed the advice that His Airness gave him before the start of the season.



“Just stay in the gym, and work hard, because he said he wasn’t great to have vitality, but he stayed in the gym and worked hard, and you know, that’s where he’s at now, look where he’s at,” Dylan Harper stated.

The talented point guard for the Scarlet Knights received offers from other prestigious programs such as UCLA and Duke, among others, but ultimately decided to commit to Rutgers.

<h2>Harper highlights the importance of staying close to home</h2>



Dylan Harper’s innate talent has drawn attention from many programs, all eager to add him to their roster. However, the point guard chose to commit to Rutgers, staying close to his roots and family.


 


“Staying home was the biggest thing to me,” Harper said via Sports Illustrated. “Just to be able to play my next level of basketball at home in my backyard — with all of my family, friends and everyone who has seen me grown up and supported me — that was the main factor.”



<h2>The promising start of the Scarlet Knights</h2>



After a handful of games, Dylan Harper’s Rutgers team has started strong, securing dominant victories over St. John’s, Wagner, Saint Peter’s, Monmouth, and Merrimack.



In his latest performance, Harper finished the game with 14 points, 8 rebounds, and 6 assists, emerging as one of his team’s leaders in the statistics.
