San Francisco finished third in total points and points per game scored in the regular season, apart from being second in the NFL in total yards and yards per game, only behind the Miami Dolphins.

While second-year quarterback <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/topic/brock-purdy">Brock Purdy</a> has done a great job to get the best out of his star-studded unit, running back Christian McCaffrey has been unstoppable. <h2>Why Chiefs shouldn’t be written off</h2>



Now that we’ve taken a look at some of the Niners’ reasons for optimism, we should consider why the Chiefs should also believe in their chances.



To begin with, San Francisco hasn’t been such a powerful team in the postseason so far. In fact, one could say that Kansas City has been stronger in this playoffs. The 49ers did make their way to the Super Bowl, but the fantastic numbers shown in the regular season plummeted in the playoffs, as they had to sweat to beat the Green Bay Packers and Detroit Lions. They got the job done by making it to Las Vegas, but the image of their offense has been different from that of the regular season.

The Chiefs, on the other hand, showed an evolution come playoff time with commanding victories over the Dolphins, <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/topic/buffalo-bills">Bills</a>, and Ravens en route to their fourth Super Bowl appearance in the last five years. They won two of those Super Bowls, including one against the Niners in 2020. So, recent performances and experience are on Kansas City’s side.

Besides, only the Cleveland Browns allowed less total yards and yards per game than the Chiefs in 2023.

“I mean, I’m not even close to halfway, so I haven’t put a lot of thought into it,“ Mahomes said Monday, via the NFL.com. “I mean, your goal is to be the best player that you can be. <h2>Mahomes would like to play for a long time like Brady did</h2>



Not only did Mahomes show respect for Brady by praising his seven Super Bowl victories, but he also admitted he would like to play for as much as he can just like Tom did, with the Patriots and Buccaneers legend pushing his retirement to age 45.

“That’s the goal, you want to play as long as they’ll let you play,” Mahomes said. “It takes a lot of work outside of the building. It takes taking care of your body, it takes eating healthy and try to get rid of the dad bod that I got. But try to do whatever you can just to get healthy and go out there and be the best player that you can be. My hope is to take it year in and year out, but I want to play as long as they’ll let me play. Fifteen years seems like long, but Brady did it and some other guys have done it so, I’m going to strive to see if I can do it as well.”



Brady extended his career so much that he ended up having three Hall of Fame careers, finishing his fantastic ride as an NFL quarterback with four Super Bowl wins late in his career. Mahomes is aware that most neutral fans are rooting against the Chiefs this year, which reminds him of the opposition the Patriots faced back in the day. “I can definitely sense it,” Mahomes said. “I never felt like that because I’ve never been like that in my entire life. But it’s become a little bit funny. I don’t want to say you enjoy it. But as long as you keep winning, teams start to not like you, and I want to keep winning. So if that means some of the other teams and other fan bases aren’t going to like me, I’ll try to still have a smile on my face and not be a bad example, but I can be that villain for them if they need me to be.”

If he comes out of a break, you think it’s a typical out-route, you put your eyes back to the quarterback and you lose sight of Kelce. And then, once you lose sight of him, Mahomes knows that, Kelce knows that. Now, he’s going to pivot and get open.”

Jensen, who battled with serious injuries in the last two years, is stepping away from the gridiron with 100 career games under his belt — in addition to seven playoff appearances. Jensen’s career took a turn in the 2022 preseason, when a knee injury ruled him out for most of the campaign. The center made it on time for the Wild Card loss to the <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/topic/dallas-cowboys">Cowboys</a>, but that turned out to be his final game as another setback on his knee prevented him from playing in 2023.

Greg Auman of FOX Sports notes that, since Jensen reworked his contract with the Bucs in each of the last two seasons, he’ll carry $16.6 million in dead money against the cap in 2024.



However, the Bucs could find a way to have more flexibility by splitting out this money. “If they can count his release as post-June 1, it would be split to $4.8 million in 2024 and $11.8 million in 2025,” Auman wrote on X (formerly Twitter).

The 65-year-old, who won two rings as a head coach in Kansas City and another one as an assistant coach in Green Bay, doesn’t need to be told how to win championships. However, it’s safe to say he would be open to getting advice on how to win back-to-back titles.



Brady has done that with the <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/topic/new-england-patriots">New England Patriots</a> in 2004 and 2005, which is why host Jim Gray brought the topic to the table during the podcast. Unsurprisingly, the retired quarterback stressed how difficult it is to do what the Chiefs are trying to accomplish this year.



“It’s hard to win one Super Bowl. So to win two of them and back-to-back years, I mean…it’s very, very difficult,” Brady said, via ClutchPoints. “I think the teams that I was on that were able to do great things year after year, it was the character of the players, the coaches, and the system that we had that brought the best out of everybody in the biggest moments. And, you know, we always try to put a lot of pressure on our players all the time to succeed, whether it was an O. T. A. Practice, where there was a training camp practice, whether it was a joint practice, a preseason game, the pressure was always on. I had 20 years of big days, you know, because everyone was important. And that’s how we saw it.”

The Chiefs came close to repeating not long ago, but it was Tom Brady who stood on their way. In fact, <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/topic/stephen-curry">Stephen Curry</a> has recently been asked about his favorite between the local <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/topic/san-francisco-49ers">49ers</a> and the <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/topic/kansas-city-chiefs">Chiefs</a>.



“I mean obviously, being here, you love to see the Niners get it done,” Curry said, via ClutchPoints. However, he clarified that a Kansas City win wouldn’t upset him that much. “I do love Mahomes and Kelce. We got to play golf with them this summer. I see them in Tahoe every year, so we have a pretty good relationship. In my household, this is a win-win kind of vibe. But obviously… the hometown team.”



It makes sense that Curry shows support for the local team, which hopes to end a 29-year championship drought. But at the same time, the Warriors star admitted he would also feel happy for <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/topic/patrick-mahomes">Patrick Mahomes</a> and Travis Kelce if the Chiefs get the upper hand. 



On Sunday, February 11, we’ll get to see who ends up lifting the Vince Lombardi trophy at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas. What we already know is that Curry will probably be satisfied regardless of who emerges victorious.

The Warriors got back to winning ways on Wednesday night by claiming a 119-107 victory over the Philadelphia 76ers. The 49ers were in attendance at Chase Center, and their recent success seemed to make a positive impact on the home team.

“Got the 49ers in the building. Showing that NFC Championship love, gonna get that Super Bowl. Maybe inspired us a little bit,” said Curry, who posted an impressive 37 points along with eight rebounds and seven assists.



The truth is that victory gave the Warriors a much-needed breath of fresh air to end a two-game losing streak and prove themselves they can put up a fight against the contenders. They’re still 12th in the West, but there’s time to get back on track. Who knows, maybe they continue to be inspired by the Niners and go on to have a deep playoff run.
