Smith has found it tougher to put up video game-like numbers, and it’s taken a toll on their record. When asked about it, he feels like he’s just doing too much right now.

“I think I have been too aggressive as of late,’’ Smith told the Seattle Times. “So I have to get back to what I was doing early on, which was taking what they give me and allowing us to have a complementary football team where we all play together and not feel like we are just trying to push the envelope or trying to push our limits to see what we can do. We know what we can do, but we have to stay on schedule.”
“I’ve just been playing to win,’’ he added. “Obviously, we were down early in that game, so part of that was my mistake early on. When you are trying to get back into a game, you don’t want to throw a check down and feel like you are giving up, so you are trying to make a big play or get things going, get some momentum. For me, again, I have to get back to what I was doing, which I haven’t really changed much, but I have been a little more aggressive than usual. So I have to be smarter.”

It’s crazy to think how his career could’ve panned out if he had found an HC that trusted his skills earlier. But Smith still has a shot to prove his worth and that he has always belonged in this league, even if it’s not this season.

We’re also aware of the fact that the NFL’s MVP has become a quarterback’s trophy. So, defensive players, wide receivers, running backs, and everybody elseis pretty much out of the equation, as unfair as that could be.

Geno Smith hasn’t ceased to impress. His early-season success was no fluke, and while some believe he’s due for regression, he’s shown no signs of slowing down and looks more poised and in control as the weeks go by.
Smith has been an elite dual-threat QB for most of the season. He’s hit his receivers in stride, has made big plays with his feet, and looks tailor-made for Pete Carroll’s offense. Don’t sleep on the Seattle Seahawks.

Lamar Jackson is playing on a contract year, and while his team’s record has left some to be desired, you just can’t blame him for their shortcomings. If anything, he’s been spectacular more often than not.
No one scrambles like Jackson. He’s single-handedly leading the Baltimore Ravens’ run-heavy offense and has shown some major signs of improvement as a passer as well. He’s due for a massive payday.

The Miami Dolphins have yet to play a game in which Tua Tagovailoa plays the full four quarters. He’s finally looked like the player he was in Alabama, and his new set of weapons brought the best out of him.
Tua has been more mobile than usual, more accurate than usual, and those constant underthrows and childish picks seem like a thing of the past. Mike McDaniel’s team is for real, and Tua deserves a lot of credit for that.

Usually, that would be a great problem to have, but that’s far from the case with the <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/nfl/jody-allen-public-statement-on-the-sale-of-the-seattle-seahawks-20220712-0008.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Seattle Seahawks.</a>
The Seahawks traded away Russell Wilson to kick off a long-overdue rebuild. And while most fans and analysts expect things to get worse before they get better, it seems like the team lacks direction right now.
The QB battle between <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/nfl/nfl-rumors-drew-lock-runs-from-behind-in-race-for-seahawks-quarterback-job-20220520-0033.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Geno Smith and Drew Lock</a> could go all the way to Week 1. “That could happen. Yeah, that could happen,” Carroll said. “We’ve got it worked out where we are figuring out playing time right now. Drew needs to play a lot of football because he missed a game [due to COVID]. So that’s the main thing to get done this weekend. (…) This game is really important because it’s kind of the make-up deal. I’m going to make sure to take care of business on that.”
“I’m wide open for whatever happens,” Carroll added. “Geno has been the guy in the lead position the whole time. I’ve protected that thought throughout and he’s done a really nice job. He’s been very consistent. We’ll just see what happens. There’s two more weeks of practice too after this. With a timeline, I had a set thought of what we would do with the timeline but that got disrupted. We’re going to use all the time we need. (…) These guys are so even right now.”

Not to disrespect Smith or Lock, but neither of them is a true starting-caliber QB, so why keep stalling this decision? Why not go face-front and tank, trade for another QB, or at least give the younger guy a shot to prove himself?

A new era has begun in Seattle this year. The <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/nfl/nfl-trade-rumors-another-team-may-have-shut-the-door-on-baker-mayfield-20220506-0036.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Seahawks</a> have parted ways with longtime quarterback <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/nfl/nfl-news-peyton-mannings-words-on-russell-wilson-will-hype-up-broncos-fans-20220505-0025.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Russell Wilson</a>, who will take his talents to Denver hoping to find <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/nfl/nfl-news-john-elway-says-russell-wilson-was-the-missing-piece-in-denver-20220512-0008.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">immediate success</a> with the Broncos.
Trading the quarterback who won the team’s first ever <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/nfl/who-are-the-last-10-super-bowl-winners" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Super Bowl</a> may have quite painful, but at least they received another signal-callerin return. The Broncos started Teddy Bridgewater over Drew Lock last year, but he has experience as starter.
However, Lock is once again facing a challenging offseason with his new team, given that the Seahawks re-signed Geno Smith this year. Besides, Smith seems to have the upper hand in the battle for the job right now.
<h2>Geno Smith leads race for Seahawks QB job</h2>
Smith has been in Seattle for two years, which explains why the coaching stafflean towards him for now. He took part in four games in 2021 – three of them as starter – throwing for 702 yards, 5 touchdowns and one interception.
“Right now, Geno has done such a good job of carrying over (the offensive principles from 2021). He already had a head start over Drew right there,” Seahawks offensive coordinator Shane Waldron said onKJR, perThe News Tribune‘s Gregg Bell. “We have a long time to go. We are just in T-shirts and shorts right now, going against air. We have a long way to go to see where this competition (goes).
Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll said something similar a few weeks ago, claiming that Geno is “obviously ahead” right now because he’s been with them for longer. But Carroll was also full of praise for Lock, claiming that he would have been <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/nfl/nfl-rumors-the-reasons-why-seahawks-didnt-draft-malik-willis-or-any-other-qb-20220509-0031.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">the first pick of the 2022 QB class</a>. Waldron made sure to praisehim as well.
“Drew has a good, calm presence in the huddle out there, (things) we saw in the last three games of his rookie year,” Waldron added. “The thing I like about Drew is, really, his ability to make every throw on the field. The way he moves and he changes his arm angle and doesn’t have to be just a (static) pocket passer out there.”
Lock is facing a huge opportunity to prove he can be a reliable starter in the NFL, but once again, he won’t have it easy. Carroll suggested the team will not add a quarterback this year, although the <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/nfl/nfl-rumors-jimmy-garoppolo-baker-mayfield-are-still-on-another-teams-radar-20220517-0030.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Baker Mayfield rumors resurfaced</a> this week. Only time will tell who will take over for Wilson.
