On Tuesday, head coach Kevin O’Connell confirmed in a press conference that Wentz, who is also dealing with a minor shoulder injury, will start on Thursday against the Chargers. However, he also shared a positive update on McCarthy’s progress.

“They found a little spark with that quarterback,” Payton admitted postgame about Dart, via @SNYGiants on X. “I was talking to [Giants CEO] John Mara not too long ago and I said, ‘we were hoping that that change would’ve happened long after&nbsp;our&nbsp;game.’“



With Payton and Wilson’s candid back-and-forth argument, fans across the NFL are left to wonder how the game might’ve turned out had Wilson been the starter. Either way, the Giants backup quarterback did see the field for a couple of snaps when Dart missed some minutes with an apparent ankle injury.

In Week 7, Fields completed only 6 of 12 passes for 46 yards before being benched at halftime — a clear message from head coach Aaron Glenn.



While Tyrod Taylor didn’t exactly light up the field either, fans have already lost patience with Fields. They aren’t the only ones frustrated, as owner Woody Johnson has also criticized the quarterback for his ongoing struggles.

“It’s hard when you have a quarterback with the rating that we’ve got,” Johnson said when asked about the team’s issues. “If you look at any head coach with a quarterback like that, you’re going to see similar results. …If we can just complete a pass, it would look good.”

Whenever a team keeps losing, the quarterback usually takes most of the blame. However, the Jets have been a mess under multiple quarterbacks, which suggests Fields might not be the only issue.

Before Week 6, the Jets were the only team in the entire league without forcing a turnover. Aaron Glenn is a defensive-minded coach, so while Fields has clearly underperformed, the defense also needs to step up — or Glenn himself could soon be on the hot seat.

The former Washington star went 21 of 38 for 241 yards and one touchdown. He was sacked twice and posted an 83.3 passer rating. The Falcons remain an intriguing team, but they must reach the next level soon.&nbsp;

Kellen Moore knows a thing or two about maximizing running backs’ abilities and opportunities and Neal could take advantage of that. At 1-6, New Orleans can afford to try different things and see if Neal can bring a spark to the squad.&nbsp;
