The Cowboys’ decision to pick up his fifth-year option was an easy one. Then again, it also should’ve been to extend him after a career-best season in which he was — by far — their best player.



Also, with the Philadelphia Eagles giving DeVonta Smith an extension right now, this isn’t a good look for Jerry Jones, who has a long history of botching negotiations with players.

Drawing comparisons to Lawrence Taylor, Parsons had a rookie campaign for the ages. His production has been quite good ever since, although he has left a lot to be desired in big games.



On top of that, Parsons has been quite active on social media and with his podcast, often stirring the pot with his hot remarks, and even calling the organization and his teammates out.



<h2>Micah Parsons Has Worn Thin In Dallas</h2>



That’s why it’s not much of a surprise to see a report from Shan Shariff on 105.3 the FAN in Dallas that states that Parsons’ behavior has rubbed some people the wrong way:

“I’ve heard from way too many people this offseason. I’m talking about at least four different people (have told me) that Micah has worn thin there,” 105.3 The Fan’s Shan Shariff said.



<h2>Will Parsons Leave The Cowboys?</h2>



Of course, that doesn’t necessarily mean he’s going to be on his way out of the team. Still, with a contract extension on the horizon, it seems like not many people would be mad if he were to leave:



“I don’t know how much is true and how much it actually hurts (his reputation). I don’t know whether this is the behavior of a typical superstar. I don’t how damaging it is. But all I do know is this – I’ve heard from way too many people that if Micah Parsons was out of there, there would be a decent amount of people inside the Ford Center at The Star in Frisco smiling or breathing a sigh of relief,” he added.

Parsons’ hardnosed character and vocal nature were the two biggest red flags leading to his arrival to the league. And while he’s clearly one of the best young players in the game, he might be talking his way out of Arlington.

The Kansas City Chiefs were supposed to commit $300 million of private money to refurbish Arrowhead Stadium but, the total cost was going to be of approximately $800 million. Without the public support, the task is out of reach.


 

 


Now, the mayor of Dallas, Eric Johnson, wants Patrick Mahomes in the same city as the <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/topic/dallas-cowboys">Cowboys</a>. “As I have said previously, our market is big enough, growing enough and loves football more than enough to support a second NFL team. Especially a franchise with deep roots here.”

Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network reported that Prescott is now fully expected to play the upcoming season under his current deal, with Cowboys staff writer Nick Harris adding that there is no urgency to get a deal done:



“Per the team, Dak Prescott and the Cowboys have had extension discussions but it is ‘not a pressurized situation for either at this point.’ The door remains open for a deal to get done this offseason or during the 2024 season, but there is no urgency as of now,” wrote Harris.

Team owner <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/topic/jerry-jones">Jerry Jones</a> has expressed more than once his admiration for the 30-year-old, who will once again be under the microscope as the Cowboys aim to end a long championship drought.



“We think he’s a great quarterback. That is really the gist of what we’re about this year. We’ve got Dak,” Jones said, via Clarence Hill of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram. “I think Dak will be at the top of his game. I’ve said that I do think he will improve from where he is now. According to a report from ESPN, Dak Prescott has agreed to restructure part of the final year of his contract with the Dallas Cowboys. The move will give much needed help for the salary cap. 


 

 


The information points out that a $5 million roster bonus for Prescott has been transformed into a signing bonus. Instead of a $59.4 million hit, it will be an impacto of $55.4 million. A $4 million reduction.

<h2>Will Dak Prescott get a contract extension?</h2>



Jerry Jones didn’t guarantee a contract extension for Dak Prescott with the Dallas Cowboys. The quarterback was supposed to reset the market, but, the owner is not ready to make that call yet even with reports of a $60 million per year deal on the horizon.



“We don’t need to, but we can if everybody wants to solve it (contract extension). You can get in and get on the same page and see if you can come to an agreement.&nbsp;If you can’t, what we have in place works.&nbsp;And so obviously, if you do it one way, you’ll be working through some of the other areas on the team in a different way, but you can’t really plan on that until you see when you’re there.”

The only big move by the Dallas Cowboys so far in free agency has been the signing of linebacker Eric Kendricks who arrives after playing with the Minnesota Vikings and the Los Angeles Chargers.
